4bs: How do you wear your hair on the regular?

I was wondering how all my fellow natural 4bs wear their hair on the regular. As you probably know, our texture is prone to tangles, knots, and dryness but we can do things to combat that. So out of curiosity, how do you wear your hair on the regular? Stretched... with heat, twists/braids, twistouts, cornrows, etc? Wash and gos? Protected under braids, wigs, etc?

What do you do?

I like wearing my hair in twists for the most part.

For now my hair will be mostly in twists under wigs until i reach BSL/MBL. I rarely wear it out. Once in awhile i'll do a blow out and rock the lioness look for a day or two:lol:

I mostly flatiron but recently I've been trying no heat styles - puffs (tangles) and wash 'n go (tangles). I haven't mastered twists nor braid outs. When I do those my hair straightens and lies flat vs the nice chunky twists and braidouts I've seen pictures of.

braids (individuals), cornrows under a wig, and most frequently, 2 pigtails. no puffs, heat and definitely NO wash n' gos.

Cornrows under a wig mostly. I'm lazy with my hair and a bit slow when it comes to styling, plus, it's an easy protective style. If my hair is loose it is always stretched. I NEVER ever let my hair shrink up! Anytime I have done that in the past I always ended up sorry so I don't do wash n' gos. :nono:

Twists and twistouts mainly. I haven't even ventured into trying pin ups or anything :ohwell:

I have mixed 4a/b, but I wear my hair straight-flat iron every 2wks, no touch ups w/heat during the 2wks. Pin it up in a bun. Just braided it and put it on satin rollers (my hair was straight n puffy)...we shall see. I don't do wng, ever-too many tangles. Tried a tnc, and looked crazy.

I'm a a lazy natural. I love styles that keep for 2 weeks or more.
I have retained a good amount of length thus far.

twists into a bun, then twist-out, then twist-out into a bun. I wash, deep condition and start again. I feel like putting braids or do a crochet style for a change...

when i was transitioning, i was bunning like mad. my hair grew, but it was so mushy all the time, when i got it dry, it was so weak and limp (before i learned what porosity and protein meant for hair...). i then started doing braidouts A LOT to mesh the two textures. then when i texlaxed i was fighting three textures; braidouts were great. i decided to just go natural about a year and a half ago.

now that i'm more natural (my ends have about an inch or so left of texlax) i do a lot more with my styling. i mostly rock twists and twistouts through the week. been doing this alternating thing between wearing it out for 3 months, then in a sew-in for a month or two when i get tired of twisting and styling. only twice since i've gone natural have i straightened it. i didn't like it very much, so i don't see doing that much any more.

I mainly wear kinky twists with extensions, although I'm currently wearing senegalese twists. I'll keep these in for about 2 months. When I leave my hair alone, it grows better.

I used various styles:
cornrows under wigs (best protective style for my hair)
Braids with extensions
twist
braids and curl out
natural updo
flat ironed hair

i mainly wear yarn braids & twists. these are my staples/regulars. i love low maintenance, protective styles.

braids allow me to wear a protective style for 2 months at a time (which is helpful especially while my hair is growing out).

twists are what i wear when my hair is out. i can usually get them to last 2 weeks at a time, before needing to be redone. my ultimate goal is to have waist length twists.

Currently:
-Small to medium twists under a straight wig. (This wig idea has grown my hair tremendously since the cut on Thanksgiving. If I keep wearing a wig, I'll be back at BSL in 2 years when the first time it took me 4. Just had to share that)

Before the cut when my hair was APL - BSL:
-Daily big-braid braidouts pinned up in a protective but cute style.
-Twist and tuck method for a curly afro look that you can wear big and out or can pin up for different styles.
-Usually small to medium twists for 2 weeks at a time.

Styles I NEVER wear:
-Shrunken. It is easy, and effortless. But it results in so many tangles...
