Hey yall, i just got back from my stylists house. She weaved it PERFECT (this is my first weave and im so pleased) some of my hair is left out for the side parting (just a tiny tiny tinyyyy bit). That part still needs to be run thru one more time with the flat iron and then its ok. Its 14" long and comes to my mid back and it had burgandy/red streaks i love it, im going to stick to weave cos i my hair don't like extensions. My stylist also said that i have a strong head of hair and i should never perm it (don't intend on doing so anyway). I have a question thought. Hoe long can u keep it in? some people i know say 2 to 4 months. I thought i should ask thought. And how often do you have to wash? how to u maintain the "just did" look?. Sorry bout all the questions

Hi Elite,
I had a weave and kept it for one month. It was deep wave human hair. It itched like crazy and I really wanted to get in there and deep condition my hair. If you go more than a month, you'll need a touch up because the threads will start to loosen.

Can I get personal and ask how much it cost you? I loved mine but the prices were too steep for one month of wear ya know?

I keep mine in for atleast a month too. I read on this board a post of someone saying that they treat there hair & weave like it's their own when it comes to washing & conditioning it.

I need serious advice on how to maintain having a weave while keeping my own hair healthy. If anyone can help, that'll be great

Well when I wore weave I would keep it in for about 6 weeks. I don't suggest more than two months even though they say you can go longer.

You will still need to wash and conditioner your hair so it can stay strong.

I used to do mine once a week and I would treat the weave hair as if it were my own. Only thing is it doesn't require the same type of products to get that just done look. A little spritz and a flat iron should do the trick for the weave hair. Make sure you tie it up at night too. To keep it looking fresh!

Weave Queen here.
Anyway. I was cheap. I kept my weave in for three months at a time. I did not experience dreading/locking of my natural hair. But 3 months is the limit.

I would wash the weave/ my own hair every two weeks. I would say that the weave hair will dry out and get frizzy after the first wash. Hot comb/flat iron helps with this (for straight weaves) conditioner/water spray mist is great for curly weaves.
At this time you must check carefully for loose tracks. I learned to do 'fix it' jobs my self. I could even add a track (not the corn-rowing part, just sewing the weft in) myself. I bought the thread and the curved needle and carried in my purse ( for those times...)
Remember weave hair is SHINIER than your natural hair. So. Dirty hair blends better that just washed. Also use the grease sparingly. Nothing looks nastier that a stringy greasy weave. Lightly (lightly !!!) oil your own hair and scalp, but do NOT oil the weave. Good Luck

Congratulations on the nice style
. My stylist once washed my first-ever weave and it looked like straw afterwards. Okay, it looked jacked up
. I had to take it out. It was my last weave too.

I heard that you weren't supposed to wash weaves. Could be wrong though...

Do any of you ladies have pics of your weaves/ I am thinking of getting one done. Also anyone with 4a/b hair, what kind of hair did you buy and how did you blend yours without heat?

I just took my weave out and did the BIG CHOP... I have a sewn in weave and NONE of my hair was exposed..no tracks were showing and the hair is wet and wavy..I bought the hair from a hair factory..ex: adorable hair and paid about 100 dollars for it..

The pic isn't the greatest but u can get the idea.. : )

Its human hair..but I buy my hair by weight..its not sold in packs...I get my hair customized to whatever texture and color I want...

Its pricey..but well worth it... Ive had that weave in for 3 months... that pic was taken a week before I took it out...It was still looking like I just got it done.. I could have used the hair over and over again I tend to use it no more than 3 times.. after awhile it tends to lose its color a little..depending on how much you wash..since I like it red I have to buy fresh hair often or color it myself..

Wow! It looks so real!!! I'm getting a sewn-in weave in about 2 weeks and I wanted to know if Milky Way human hair is good. I've used for human hair braids, but I don't know about for a weave.

Ive never bought my hair from Adorable hair..I was just using that store as an example..

I go to LUgo's (Bk)
Ruthies (LI)
Barbies World (Queens)

They are actually owned by a family so they all know each other in these stores..

I go to different places because alot of places wont have my color at the time so I'll go on to the next place...

I usually get my hair down my back ( I wear weaves no need to front like its mine)

Depending on how curly you want your hair to be.. I usually mix Spanish wavy with Jherri Curl... but if u go to the store and u tell them what style u want they will blend different textures for you.

Milky way is a waste of money in my opinion for weaving. The hair sheds sooo much. I once had a weave that shed soo bad that when it was time to take the tracks out, I was literally taking only the track off. There was no hair left on the track.
