Used Aloe Vera Juice Before Washing And It Was The Best Wash Day Ever!! Pics!

On my past wash day I used Aloe Vera Juice prior to washing to loosen up my new growth. I am 4 months post and this method worked like a charm! I just put it in a spray bottle and first sprayed it on my new growth and then any excess I just put it down the strands of my hair all the way down to the ends. This was one of my best wash days ever! Detangling was a breeze and I had very little shedding! My hair felt so soft and moisturized and I know it is because of the Aloe Vera Juice because I did everything exactly as I always do on my wash day but added the Aloe Vera Juice. It is no doubt a staple in my regimen now! Thanks to @jamaica68 for the tip!! I also just posted a video of my entire wash day using the Aloe Vera Juice if anyone wants to see it http://youtu.be/uTEIQuLExbA . The pics below are pre-Aloe Vera then with it applied and then washed. BTW don't know why my pics are so big...sorry ya'll lol!

Do you think aloe vera gel will work also, I think we may be hair twins. I need to get a good shot of my new growth the next time I take down my braids

@blaqphoenix I have been looking for a hair twin. You gotta post some pics. Tangled hair has always been such a huge problem for me!! I don't know why my hair is soooo tangled prone! I have tried everything from detangling wet hair, to in the shower, to dry. Using the Aloe Vera Juice was amazing. I really think I found the solution! I don't know about aloe vera gel cuz I have never used it.

@ebonyseas and @mostamaziing I have never died my hair. I think the color is more from the abuse I put on my hair before finding this board like relaxers and not protecting my hair from the sun when I'm outside. But now I know and knowing is half the battle lol!!

your hair is beautiful! i am VERY tangle/knot/mat prone and im using ACV as we speak to detangle and loosen some knots. how do you keep your ends so thick while stretching/transitioning? are your strands fine or thick?

blaqphoenix I can't wait to see!!

EbonyCPrincess Thanks so much!! Too Excited!!

abcd09 Hey let us know how it worked for you. I have both fine and thick strands. I don't know if that is from my years of relaxers or what. I'm trying to figure out my camera so I can take a good picture of the two different strands. When I do get a good pic I will post them. I really baby my ends keeping them moisturized and sealed as much as possible and I do a lot of protective styles. I haven't trimmed since last July when I started my Journey but I plan to do a small dusting on my 1 year Hair Journey Anniversary cuz I think it's long over due. I will be slowly cutting off the relaxed ends as I go through my transition. I can't wait for the day till I am fully natural. I haven't seen my natural hair since the age of 9!!

I did this for the first time today but I have left it in. I think I will wash it out later today.
I added tea tree oil peppermint oil to my aloe vera juice and covered my scalp. It feels so refreshing!

blaqphoenix Wow I think we may be!! I added a couple more pics below of about the same area of my head and it looks pretty darn close. Maybe the experts here can compare and tell. Ya I think once you get your hair unbraided and everything we will really be able to tell.

well my hair was untagled fine, but I was in a hurry so I didnt dry in rollers. I think this is what saved me last week, but this week I just didnt have the time and decided to blowdry some. Even after detangling, it dried in knots. I lose a lot of length detangling at this point. I dont think I can go 4 months post again

abcd09 are you trying to go natural or stretching your relaxer? When I stretched my relaxers I never really went past 10 to 12 weeks because the damage out weighed the benefits for me. But now that I am going natural I am being forced to learn how to take care of the two textures because I will be dealing with a lot more new growth from this point on with no intention to relax again. And it is getting easier as the weeks go on and I learn new techniques. I would say if you are just stretching listen to your hair and when you see it is tangling, getting in knots and becoming unmanagable it is time to do your touch-up. You may me doing more damage then good if you stretch for to long. You have to listen to YOUR hair and do what is best for YOUR hair. Some may be able to stretch longer then others and that works for them. But YOUR hair will tell you otherwise if that is the case. JMO. I hope this helps :)

I'm stretching out of necessity. I moved over the summer for school and now am pretty far away from my other hair dresser and it is difficult to set aside time to travel back home. On top of that I know no black women here to refer me to a stylist. There are very few and the majority are naturals. I'm very scared of trying someone new, but I am able to make it back home next weekend thank God

Thank you and It does help. I dont think I should go beyond 3 months.

Glad it worked for you. I wish I had known about it sooner. It doesn't matter how long I've rocked twists or a twistout, AVJ will make all my tangles disappear!!!

abcd09 I remember when I first went off to college I couldn't find a hairdresser and couldn't even really afford it for that matter. So a friend showed me how to self-relax and the salon was history lol.

WriterGirl Heeeey giiirl:wavey: I remember meeting you over on the transition thread. I love how refreshing it feels. Since it was my first time using it I know I had to of gone overboard a little bit because it felt to good. I just kept spraying and spraying lol! And it works great on my girls' naturals so that is good to know because I figure we have the same genes so more than likely my natural hair will be similar. I can't wait to really start seeing it! I haven't since the age of 9!!!

@niqu92 Hey do you have a pic of when you were natural? I would love to see what my hair may possibly look like :) How do you battle the tangles on your relaxed hair?

@NJoy I love when I can get a wash day all to my self. It is rare but when I do it's like heaven. Just me, myself, and my hair lol!! Hey let us know how it worked for you.

Newbie2Beauty I used some aloe vera juice. It turned out well! :yep:

I washed with Shea Moisture shampoo which also has aloe vera juice in it. I love that shampoo.

Love how aloe vera closes my cuticles and lays my new growth down.

I put my hair in 8 ponytails and put curlformers on the ends. I'm going to wear it in an updo this week. Updos and me are gonna be >>>like this<<< for the summer.

I'll be sure to post pics in the transistioners thread!

most of my pics from when i was natural was on my old computer which crashed so i dont have too many good ones, most of my natural pics i have are pics of me w.pressed hair. I dont have any good texture shots but i'll post these to give you an idea

this was a braidout,i was unknowingly doing braidouts lol i plaited my hair in about 6 braids (on dry hair) and i would undo them in the morning.umm excuse the bra in the background lol and ithink iwas trying to make a sexy face lol err iwas in 10th grade

this was a wash and go...uhm...i do not look like this is real life lol

this is when my hair was pressed

@WriterGirl I can't wait to see the pics!!

@niqu92 You are such a cutie :) And you are officially my hair twin. Looking at your natural hair was like looking at my daughters' hair. I have always felt like my hair would be close to theirs once I could really see my natural hair. If your relaxed hair looks like mine and your natural looks like my girls' then I think that seals the deal lol!! Woo Hoo I have a hair twin yaaaa'll!!
