Im so jealous and sad. I realized my afro won't ever be round because my hair doesn't grow that way. That is my absolute dream. Gosh that is so fabulous and she's gorgeous too. Ya'll ever notice how makeup just pops on the skin of black people with natural hair?

I feel you bc 12 years is a mighty long time! But she could just be an example of a slow grower.

well if she is 4b, which is what it looks like, I bet if she stretched the sides of her hair it would reach all the way to the end of that picture frame and even a lil beyond, which could well translate into tailbone length. Because my 8 months of NG which looks very itty bitty in comparison to her fro actually stretches out quite a bit. but i do agree that the other pics on the site makes her hair look shorter, but who knows when they were taken or if she ever did a 2nd big chop.

Her hair is beautiful. I just wish she was more specific about her routine. I remember a year or two ago, I tried to ask her about the specifics of her routine and she was still very general. I wanted to know how she maintained her hair in a picked out afro and if she combed it out everyday because I know natural hair shrinks. I also wonder how often does she wash her hair and how does she dry her hair. I'm thinking her hair pattern must not be as tightly coiled up as mine.

I bet if she straightened her hair, it would be really long.

Maybe she has had set backs along the way, like most of us. After 2 years my hair should be longer but i've had setbacks.

That is the first thing i thought. Her regime description is very general and quite frankly i don't believe it. Seems like she doesn't actually want to share with her sista's what she's actually doing.

Yeah, especially with wearing her fro out that big. I remember her telling me she does not blowdry her fro out. I just wonder how she got her hair to stay out that big without having to pick it out everyday. And I remember her saying she never combs her hair when it's dry, so that's confusing to me when I see a big non-wet stretched out fro that has a nice shape to it.

Maybe she's had some major cutbacks along the way. She's got to be getting her hair shaped up, it's perfectly trimmed. With all of that hair, I doubt that it would be growing round like that without trimming maintenance.

Poohbear Did you ask her on this forum or on her website? I didn't try to sign up on the website so I don't know if you have to pay or not but maybe she is not giving out free info about her hair practices??

I know we can have set backs but she just stated she was letting it grow as long as it will and I thought with eveyone else on here that is babying their hair in like 4-5 yrs their hair was waist or longer. so I was just wondering if what she was doing was really working for growth. her hair looks healthy but I was just wondering about the growth part.

I think her hair is beautiful, but I don't think her fro is stretched out. You can't do a round fro on long hair if you stretch it. It would flop in the middle. My hair can look like this when I don't stretch. Whenever I just pull it into a style after it dries and then pat it down I can get that thick fro look. Of course my unstretched fro is quite tight, it looks like a TWA. If my air dried fro was that length, my stretched hair would have to be classic.

So glad to see a natural with hair like mine reaching these lengths.

Seamonster I see what you mean. I guess I was making my comments off the pictures I had seen on her site. I don't know how long her hair really is.

Shadiyah, I asked her on Nappturality a few years ago. I tried to log back in to Nappturality to see my PMs but I think they got rid of my profile or something. Maybe she is keeping her hair practices a secret unless you're a member of her site.

I've been natural for 6 years now and my hair is no where near waist length. I've had some cuts and trims as well that set me back for my length goals as well, but I'm afraid my terminal length might be armpit length. I don't know. I know I've manipulated my hair a whole lot through out the 6 years, but I just just don't want to wear my hair in a shrunken state indefinitely. I just have a feeling with my hair type, it may be best to be left alone in it's shrunken state without combing it out for any type of style if I want it to retain length.

ETA: I just registered for her site and asked her questions about her hair regimen. I'll see what she says.

Seamonster - Really? Wow. If that's her hair in it's shrunken state, then it must be tailbone length if straighten. Unless, like I said earlier, she doesn't have much shrinkage. And your hair can look like that when you don't stretch it? Amazing. How do you do it? How long is your hair when straightened? When you say you don't stretch it, does that mean no picking it out with a comb either?

I know if I wear my hair in a shrunken fro, it will be a few inches from my scalp and above my ears. If a plait it up, let it dry, then pick it out, I can get a big round fro. If I blowdry it out, it will definitely fall and be all floppy.
