When Will My Hair LOOK Long?

*sigh* Although I have healthy looking, my hair rarely, if ever looks long to me. Nor is it very thick and full as I'd like. Have you ever felt that you'll never get to the point where you're completely satisfied with your hair?

I want to be able to do styles like this so bad, but I don't have enough hair for it, especially since I've lost a lot of hair due to shedding  (it doesn't look like it in my siggy, but you should see the top of my head:nono:) :

BTW, this is a vent thread....please vent with me- I don't want no advice about how it could be worse. Just share my pity party with me/:party: This is not a fishing for compliments thread .

I wanted to come in and vent with you. But then I saw that luscious dark hair sweeping across your shoulders like a wave and I was done.

So I will respectfully leave this thread and let some more qualified people help you vent. :yep:

Hope you feel better soon!

That is subjective, but the LHCF stamp of approval is usually after APL. Don't worry about how others view your hair, just keep up the good work and you're get to your goal in no time.

Nope, that lasted all of 5 hours, just enough to get my interview in. And my head is tilted down, it only hangs to to my shoulders in this style :ohwell:

It's not necessarily other people, it's me. I loved to do the old fashion pin up styles, but every time I click on a vid, they all have super thick massive hair like Southernbella, or Lynnnieb or Empressri. I'm coming to the realization that I may never have hair to do the type of dramatic styles that I want to.....and that hurts especially since my hair has been shedding from stress. I'm losing strands left and right and even other people have noticed that my hair is thinning . Hopefully rollersetting may get it back on track, but I think I'm having a PCOS episode due the shedding and acne flare-up

@SimJam

Shrinkage does suck. My hair don't even reach past my shoulders anymore in its natural state

I may just have to do that , but seriously. How do I solve this shedding problem and thicken my hair up. I'm broke and currently looking for work :look:

ok seriously, I know garlic pills work well for stopping shedding or garilc conditioners (dont know the names/brands) but im sure u can get garlic supplements at a reasonable price that wont ust your budget.

as for thickening up henna worked well for me when I was relaxed rosemary OE added to castor oil has helped my edges and nape now that Im natural

oh and I also have issues with the crown of my head (hair there is like 4z) and breaks thins.... I just need to baby it - add more DC protein and moisture and also add my rosemary EO oil there

If you want me to put it simply, dramatically and pessimistically, your hair will NEVER look long enough to you!!

Other people will "oohh and aww" and try to fondle and caress and drool at your length but you will look in the mirror and see a bald-headed scallywag.

I'm sorry but its true!

I am approaching BSB/MBL and I might as well be ear-length. Gaaahhhh!!!!

It's called hair-anorexia, and you've got it bad.

OP, I don't understand why you can't pull off that hairdo. I could do it with CBL-APL hair. The bottom just won't hang as far down. The top doesn't need a lot of length to create, even SL hair could do that. So again, what's your problem?

My hair not quite dense enough at the top to look like hers nor will the style fall like hers. My hair ends up looking scalpy in some parts:sad:

It's simply one of those grass is greener type scenarios. You know how when you're a kid and you get a shiny new bike, and your in love and happy with at first, until you see another kid with a newer, faster, shinier bike than yours? That's how I'm feeling right now:spinning:

Length probably won't help that. :(
I feel you. I wish my hair was denser too!
But your hair is gorgeous! Maybe if you do it on hair that's lightly pressed instead of fully straight, you can retain more volume.

Yeah I know, I just wish I had more hair in general , I dunno. I'm trying to do it on rollerset hair, so my hair isn't bone straight at all

kblc06, I think you can pull it off, even with low density since you have length. You can form a roll, ie overlap the hair instead of doing just one fold like someone with short hair would have to do. The roll will mean instead of people seeing through one layer of hair they'll see two so it'll appear thick. That's the beauty of length. It can fake fullness where there isn't. ;)

I was expecting something very different to the hair in the sig!!!

But hey. I hope you'll resolve it! I'm in the same situation.

I understand OP. I am BSB and I feel bald. It's hard to complain about it without looking like you're fishing for compliments, but I am nowhere near satisfied with my hair. It's not a big deal, but I do wonder when I will finally feel like my hair is long.

OP how often do you see your hair in "out" styles? pictures dont lie and if your hair looks stellar- it generally is.

I forget my length often because I live in air dried PS styles. when i finally do straighten - i either expect too much or too little. i think this is because I am out of touch with my actual length. taking progress pics pulls me right out of the "why isnt my hair______" blues.

also - another thing that helps is to focus on the best hair that YOU can have. period. Don't compare an apple to an orange. It's a pointless endeavor. I feel you OP. Stay positive and happy hair growing!:bighug:

Roller sets have a tendency to make hair look fuller. I'm gonna be real....yes its shiny and looks great but girl u along knows what happening wid dem strands. Pics do tell lies contrary to popular belief when it comes on to hair cuz i've been fooled many times.

Garlic pills are a plus....Henna i would say is a must. Revisit your regimen. I'm not sure what your state your hair is if its relaxed or natural also if you're using too much heat or what. More info please.

best of luck to you!

Awww, OP. Your hair is lucious. Are we seeing the same head of hair?

short answer -- looking long & thick -- seven to ten years from whenever you start/maintain/retain your healthy hair journey.

your hair looks healthy, & is well on its way to longer lengths. just hold on, & keep doing what you're doing & it will come.

I don't feel my hair is looking as long as it should due to layers. Some people are really impressed. Although I'm proud of how far I've come; I still think it doesn't look as long as it should.

I feel your pain. I'm scraping BSL. I'm about .25" longer now than my siggy. I hate my hair b/c it's in layers and I have some breakage. I said when I got to full BSL I would start trying to even my ends out. Now I'm thinking I might suck it up til WL then start trimming for blunt. I don't wear my hair out b/c I don't like the way it looks.
