Full Weave PS (pic heavy)- something is missing…let me know what!

Okay y'all. I got my full weave done last week. No hair left out at all. I like it, I think, but something just isn't quite right. Is it the color? I knew that jet black would be too dark for me, so we went with 1B. I still feel like it looks a little vampy on me. Maybe I need to go lighter, or get some high lights or something. I don't know what it is, but I think it needs a little "oomph"…just can't figure out how.

Any suggestions??

I can say that I am relatively pleased with the overall weave itself. It's not too tight, doesn't itch, great braiding underneath, etc.

I feel a little Kelly Rowland-wiggish, but it will get the job done as my goal is protection of my natural hair as I march my way to tailbone length :drunk:

You are pretty. :) The weave does look kind of wiggy. Its full. Maybe thin it out?

Maybe there are too many tracks up front and the fullness is what's off? It does look good though. I've tried weaves and they never seem quite right to me.

If I were you I would leave it as is for a while and if it's still bothering you in a week or so, angle the sides a little more and shorten the bang.

its probably because its still new. once you play with it and it gets a little older you will get used to it and it will look more natural. =) i am an advid full weave wearer.

I dont think you should thin it. some face framing layers in the front will do. thinning your hair will ruin your investment. it will do that on its own over time w shedding etc.

I agree with some of the other ladies, there's a lot of volume on top of your head/bang area. Don't think the color is a problem (looks to me like it's the same color as your hair in the avatar). I think the hairstyle (volume on top + curls) makes it fuller than it really is.

Just try to play with it, style it completely straight and see what happens. Build it up from there. You can just curl the buttom half of the hair so top will stay flat etc.

Be carefull with thinning it out, had the same problem once. Fresh weave to much bulk on top. Razor cut it, but after a while due to products/shedding my bangs became to thin and tracks were showing. I had to add a few more tracks.

Good luck.

I think if you put on some makeup you'll like it a little more. i do agree that it looks voluminous, but that's what happens with new weaves. i don't think there's a problem with the color.

So, here's the question, will a full weave "settle" down a bit after a couple of weeks? This is my first full weave - I've only had partials previously. I have a lot of hair myself, so I suspect the top will only get so flat because, well, there is a lot of hair under there. Although, she surprisingly braided it the flattest I've ever had done.

Do you think tying it down with a scarf at night will help?

I've never had a full weave either... I've always gotten partial ones, but they always settle down IME

I think it looks great! The photos of your natural hair are off your face and your weave has bangs, so it may just be a little different from what you're use to.

Very beautiful you and your weave. If your comfortable styling it i say poo it con it and comb it down in the same way its styled..sit under the dryer without manipulating it until its dry. This should take some of the fullness out.

I also think it is a bit too full in the front. But, I don't think you should thin it out though unless it was inexpensive hair. See if you cant get some of the tracks removed or just wait for it to shed and thin out on its own.
