I have a wood comb that I have used off and on for 6 years now. I've only used it on freshly washed dry hair because I think water would cause the wood to swell and maybe create rough edges. I put tea tree oil on it every so often to disinfect it. Another reason I don't use it a lot is that my hair sounds liking it is snagging and breaking while I'm combing with this comb. Despite the sound, I have never lost a hair after combing with this comb and I loose plenty when I use rubber combs.

O.K. I finally ordered the wide-toothed beechwood comb from tenderheaded.com I received it yesterday. I am going to lightly sand it and oil it with hobacare jojoba oil. I will use on dry hair every once in awhile. It is supposed to move the oils down the hair as well as a brush. I shall see. It's smaller than I thought (about the size of my hand). My mom wants me to order her one too. She thinks it is too cute. She BCed about 2.5 months ago.

I was just thinking, I will probably oil it with linseed (flax) oil first since I know most wood workers/carperters(old school) oiled with linseed. The next (second) oiling I will use jojoba.

I have a wood comb, but I use my modified rake comb more often just because the teeth are farther apart. Also the handle was a little short on the wood comb. I got mine from tenderheaded too. Other than that it was fine.

I have a wooden comb that I got from The Body Shop. I think it is polished wood because I use it on wet hair too with no problem. I can honestly tell you it's one of the best combs I have and I will never go back to using any other comb. It's even better than my Kent comb.

Thanx for chiming-in ladies. I know the body shops is very popular. Ximenia, I was going back & forth between the beechwood (I bought) and the solano at tenderheaded. But I like this "pik-like" style your showing. I will probably pick this up later when they restock.

I have both the wood comb and brush from the body shop. I've had fantastic results from both. When I remember to use the comb and brush, my hair appears to shed so much less. The body shop website is currently down, if it weren't, i would have posted pics of the comb and brush. i think i posted pics of the comb and brush in another thread. Let me go hunt for it.

I have never seen a wooden brush b4 but that does sound interesting. I found this site with more combs http://www.artistreewoodart.com click onto hair accessories. I thought the hair pick, straight hairpin, handled hair comb, and french roll comb are very pretty. But my wallet can't afford all this stuff right now maybe next yr and my hair will be longer by then anyway. I believe his combs are handmade and you have a choice of woods.

They are awesome but do not get them wet (they warp). The body shop has a wooden comb for five dollars (medium sized teeth). Good luck!
