LHCF is HINDERING my hair progress (long)

This is a really tough decision for me and is going to be even harder for me to stick to BUT I feel that it’s necessary. I want to share it with you all publicly so that I can be accountable.

So here it is: I feel that the best way for me to actually reach my goals is to take a break from LHCF for the next two and a half months…my own little no-LHCF challenge until October 1st  Shocking...yes...I know.

It seems that coming here has helped me learn sooooooo much about my hair and what I affectionately refer to as my “newbie Pjism” has helped me to find staple products but LHCF now seems to be making the goals that I have set for myself harder to reach.

Here are the challenges that I have joined and how LHCF challenges me to reach them.

No New Product Challenge – I have discipline in this area but all the product raves really eat away with the sense of contentment that I have with my products. I keep wanting to try new things even though I am happy with what I have found and use right now. I haven’t given in yet…but my resistance is wearing down daily.:(

Regimen/Consistency Challenge – I LOVE all of the tips, techniques, etc. that I have learned from LHCF the problem is that I KEEP learning new ones all the time that make me want to switch and change what I am doing. I know that there is no end to learning about your hair…but I just want to use what I have found for a while and see how that improves my hair's healthy and length.

No Heat Challenge – The ladies at LHCF have absolutely GORGEOUS hair (you dont see hair like you all's every day...at least I dont)…every time I see fly Dominican blow outs, silky flatirons, in peoples signatures, avatars, fotikis, it makes me want to run and break out my flatiron **Sigh** It gets harder and harder every day to stick to my guns :ohwell:

Vitamin/Water and Deep Conditioning Challenge – no worries from LHCF there :) YAY!

I just want to stop putting so much mental energy into my hair and just let it do its thing. I plan to stick to my challenges and use all the tools, products, and tricks that I have learned here in the meantime. I am going to miss you ladies dearly and have no idea what I am going to do with all this new found time:confused: but I am sure that I will figure something out. I admire you ladies who can stick to your guns and stay active with the site.

So yea…I just want to say thanks for listening, sharing, and being there….you ladies have truly made the difference in my hair journey…I look forward to coming back. I plan to return with updates, progress reports, and great news…and the ability to help others without compromising my own hair regimen.:look:

I hear you. I've been a member here for more than 3 years and I take breaks periodically. I go through periods of "hair burnout" where I don't want to hear or think about hair. I think the longer you've been on the board, the simpler your routine gets. At first you want to try every new product someone recommends but eventually you realize that good, consistent care is the only thing that's gonna help you reach your goals.

Many of us have felt this way, brownsugarflyygirl. I don't think it is bad idea at all. I used to want to try everything and do everything, too. I would look at all the ladies that had the hair I wanted and many times I tried what they did or used the products they used, I ended up being a bad idea.

I have gotten pretty stable in my routine because it is working. My fear that changing will mess me all up has helped me balance my "addiction" to LHCF.

I wish you luck girl! Don't forget about us. In a few months please shae your progress with us!!! And you know when you have a hair question or issue, there are always ladies here that have been through the same thing. I have taken breaks, too, but I alwys knew that the ladies here could help with a problem or question or even with just some encouragement.

Girl, good luck on reaching your goals. I think I am going to take a break myself since I drasically(sp?) simplified my routine anyway.

Progress...not perfection
We'll still be here when you decided to come back. :) Dont forget there are other sections besides the hair board. Spend some time in offtopic, entertainment or the cooking section. Its a whole new world. :)

Girl you ain't goin' nowhere, just watch . . .

I ALWAYS say this . . . and look where I am now. Nah, seriously, I feel ya. I am definitely taking a hair board hiatus at the end of this month and placing the focus back on other important areas of my life. I need a break, too. Don't know how long it'll be, but after 2 years strong, I am officially "hair-boarded" and "fotki'd" out. :ohwell:

I hear you. I used to feel exactly like you until something clicked in me that rome was not built in a day. No matter what I do to my hair, it will never look like Sylver2's in 6 months!! It's a long journey and there are no quick fixes. And I made a vow to finish the warehouse of products I accumulated before purchasing anymore - no matter the hype. I am now comfortable with my routine and accept the fact that my hair might never look as fly as the best hair on the board but as long as I am happy with how healthy it is, no shedding, etc., I will stop the obsession. That mindset has worked very well for me so far and has allowed me to read all the raves about a product, and not give in to purchase it. I am contented with the little accomplishments i have made with the help from all the ladies here.

I think I may have to do this...I'm guilty of spending more time on talking about hair and products than on my hair itself! But I'll def. be on Entertainment and other boards....matter of fact, that is where I am at the majority of the time now anyway. I really don't have any hair questions or anything like that except about certain products these days.....

I wish you luck! I wish I could do the same thing right now!!!

I know what you mean. I have done this before, I was finding it too stressful and overwhelming at times especially because I would see everybody with these long healthy beautiful heads of hair everywhere, it got me frustrated and down at times cos I used to wonder if I would ever have beautiful hair.

Now, a year and a half later my hair looks more and more like the hair I have always dreamed of having.

Make sure u come back and give us an update!

I wasn't coming on the haircare section for the longest time (months). I didn't look at it until maybe 3 weeks ago? I'm also planning to go short in the next few weeks, so I definitely won't be focussing on growth as much. Do what's best for your hair and your sanity!
