Between waist and hip straight. My shrinkage is insane, so it'll probably be shoulder length kinky.
What do you think is the best hair length and why?

I guess it depends on your frame size and face. By all means you can aim for wl so you see whether it works for you or not.
I'm 5'6 and I know I don't look great with hair past mid-back straightened. I've experimented with wigs/braids and the long ones just didn't look the best on me. I understand the natural ladies wanting it waist and beyond though because presumably with shrinkage it would hang to bsl.

Bsl is just enough for, I wouldn't mind hip length bt that would be too long and that would be me being too greedy

I'm one of the few who voted APL, and that's only because I'm natural with so much shrinkage. If I were relaxed SL would be enough for me to create the styles that I love. I just want enough hair to do what I want, but I don't want too much hassle. My arms are already getting tired as my TWA has grown out!

It took me a min to vote even though my goal is WL. I had to read everyone else's post to get my thoughts together. I have thin hair and I would love to have a nice full bun one day. Not to mention that I would love to have my hair curly and hang APL. The only time that I get full hair is wearing a wash n go.
So I say beyond Hip or just Hip but at this point I would take full MBL because I am BSB now and I am still not hanging over my shoulders with my curly hair but it looks fuller so you can tell that it has grown a lot.

I think BSL/ BSB is the ideal length, and that's my longterm goal. I've never wanted WL or HL or MBL (but I am five feet tall, so my MBL may be some folks BSL lol!!)
I think BSL/ BSB is the most versitle, and the longest I'd want my hair to get, without feeling like it's not very fun. After that length, in my opinion, hair becomes too much work to keep up. But girrrrrrrrrrrrl, when I get to BSB, it's gonna be a good day.

My hair looked best at that length. That's my goal as a stretched natural

I think the best length for me is the length I need to obtain in order for my stretched natural hair to be slightly past my shoulders and still appear to be thick and full. Haven't gotten there yet but I'll that it's somewhere between BSL and WL so I voted for MBL.

as long as the front is layered well around my face it doesnt really matter. i think ill be good at mbl though.

I think APL is the best hair length because imo it looks good on anyone. Though my goals are MBL or WL for some people that may not look right especially if their hair is extremely thick or thin. APL is long but not too long where it may become a nuisance or what others may deem excessively long.

I think waist length is beautiful. Perhaps its because I have a short torso, I just do not see it too long at all. I think MBL and WL are so close together, and just long enough to be considered undeniably long ( not medium length hair) without being crazy long like hip length or longer. I feel as though hip length is just too much hair.
That said, as a natural I have so much shrinkage. I would be so happy if my natural hair could just be at BSL, but that would mean I would never straighten it. My hair went to my hips when straightened as a child but was just a big shoulder-ish bush natural.

My long term goal is WL stretched (though, WL coily would be a sight to see). WL is my preferred goal because, with shrinkage, it wouldn't be overwhelming for me. I could rock my coils at whatever length they shrink to or I could stretch it out and wow people with its "true" length. Plus, I could throw my hair into cute bun styles. I'm a WnG girl, but I have a soft spot in my heart for pretty buns and updos.
However, I am LOVING my current length. I gave myself a much needed shape-up cut last week and rid myself of 2-3 inches of stringy ends and mullet hair. I'm back up to just at my shoulders (touching collar bone) and the shape is exactly what I wanted. Of course, it shrinks up to about jaw/chin length which is fine with me! I am suuuuper happy with my hair at the moment. So, I'm not even stressing about growing it out right now. Lol.
However, I am LOVING my current length. I gave myself a much needed shape-up cut last week and rid myself of 2-3 inches of stringy ends and mullet hair. I like MBL-WL. It gives you enough hair to do a million styles with. You can also make a faux bob with these lengths....just tuck your hair under and pin it up....it is REALLY convincing with a braid out tho...ppl will think you cut your hair!
Also...now that i'm natural...i'm looking forward to more weight to my curls so that it doesn't seem so short. Hopefully one day i can be APL curly...i'm guessing for me that would me WL straightened.

I voted APL. At this length I will let my grays come in. I'm 5'2" and old. Any longer with gray hair and I will probably begin to look like a sea hag. Not exactly the look that I want to be associated with.

I can wear my hair however I want to with no regard to hair care at apl. That length is long to me and has a lot of versatility without the work.

I think BSL would be a pretty versatile length. I'm going for WL, but I would be cool with BSL.

I like APL hair and it feels good but I was grazing BSL as well and I have to honest, I 
BSL hair - just the feel of it touching and flowing down my back was simply, for lack of a better word, orgasmic

I may never get any longer than that but it's okay because I can be very happy with just BSL hair. Any longer and I might suffer setbacks however.
I just can't seem to take care of very long hair without a stylist invovled and truth be told, I don't really want anyone but me to be responsible for my long and healthy hair
