Hello ladies, hope all is well. Some may know this but I joined the navy, my hair was weaved up through bootcamp and by the time I took the weave out it grew like a weed. Now I'm in a school and it's too coarse for me to deal. Already brought so many products and now I'm just tired of this. I want my curls to relax just a tiny bit so they can be a bit easier to smooth. I want my hair chemists to let me know if this is as harmful as a relaxer, and of course I'd love texturizer genuises to chime in. I already know I don't want a relaxer because I love curly hair but....I might have an easier time if I were to smooth my texture out a bit because it's tough brushing it into a bun and still looking presentable. (NAVY STANDARDS. Nobody go crazy on me today). No amount of gel works and I do not have time in the morning. Plus I'm not gonna lie, I wonder what a looser curl pattern would be like. Any advice? I'm not looking for 'don't do it' or 'do it'. I'll figure that out along the line. I'd just like to know about the chemical make up since I don't ahve much time to check it out. I would like to grow out my hair wtihout destroying all progress I make by trying to get it to submit and fit under a cover. And no weaves or braids.

Those who have done it, pros and cons. Thanks much.

It's that same as texlaxing. I used this on my moms hair, I left on a lil longer (like she told me to) and her hair was bone straight. All texturizers are is mild relaxers. So if I was you and you want your curl pattern to remain. I say don't do it. :) hth

Oh wow thanks for telling me that. I just want to loosen it very slightly so that it won't be a huge difference when my newgrowth comes in, since I would only do it twice a year or less. What about leaving it in for 10 minutes, even less? Just a bad?

Yea, you could do that just to loosen your curl pattern a little but one your new growth comes it will be two different textures and it may be a process you would have to repeat more than twice a year. And you could no longer consider your self "natural" :(

Do you dc or co-wash often???? I have noticed that once I started doing each at least once a week my curl pattern softened (im transitioning) alot.

I just don't want you to do something your going to regret in the long run :nono::nono:

Botanicals™ No-Lye No Mix Creme Texturizer: Water (Aqua), Petrolatum, Mineral Oil (Paraffin Liquidum), Cetearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Lithium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Laneth-15, Cetyl Alcohol, PEG-60 Lanolin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Fragrance (Parfum).

Lithium Hydroxide. It's just a perm. Texlaxing is great for me, but it doesn't make bunning easier without a scarf. I have to wet bun and scarf overnight.

I'm texlaxed & I love it. I can honestly say its the best of both worlds. Im no chemist , but I can tell you that using a texturizer is NOT the same as texlaxing. My cousin uses a texturizer &... It's just not the same. Instead of loosening her curl pattern, it just looks like an under processed straight relaxer.

I use a lye relaxer that I dilute with jojoba oil & conditioner. I leave it on for 8 minutes & rinse. I love the consistency of my texlaxed hair. I'm currently full MBL.

I went natural 10 years ago before it was cool, just because I wanted to. I was natural for 8 years & I loved it. However the one thing I learned from getting to know my hair over that time is... It's just hair lol. I also learned that being natural is not a club or sorority... Again, it's just hair. The most important thing is knowing how to take care of your hair, no matter what state it's in.

So when I wanted to try something new, like texlaxing, it wasn't a big deal for me. As long as you take care of your hair, you can have healthy & long hair whether it's relaxed of not. I did my research before hand. I'm loving being texlaxed. I do long stretches, so If I wanted to be natural again, I could just BC. It's not exactly the end of the world :look:

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Yes, the thing is my curl pattern isn't 'tight' at all. I have what varies from waves to ringlets, when I look at it. But it is very, very, very coarse and thick so I might as well have iron corkscrews when it comes down to it. So even when it's well moisturized, it's just so thick.

Hi im texturised.

I use regular relaxer diluted with conditioner and I leave it on for about 6-10 mins. Im satisfied with my results. You can see my blog and album for pics. You can have long healthy hair.. you just need to take care of it. I think ppl. get disappointed after texturising because they expected that it would take care of all their hair problems and that they wouldn't have to take care of their hair. THIS COULD NOT BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.

Whatever state our hair is in, we will always have to take care of it to retain length. Just find a simple regi an stick to it.
