Hi ladies,
So i decided to cowash yesterday using softn free shea butter conditioner for children ,it left my hair greasy, waxy and crispy on the ends .
I figured it wasn't gonna be good for cleansing as it's quite oily but then again as a DC is absolutley useless as ir makes my hair dry.

What are the worst con you ve used for cowashing and what were the results ?

I don't like to use most cheapy conditioners because I can smell an lingering smell that is not nice... just soapy or something.

UHHHH i hate Suave with a passion. I still have a full family size bottle sitting on my desk. It provided no moisture, shine, or support for my hair. Im not knocking cheap products but this one is truly you get what you pay for.

Herbal Essence is awful and agree with the poster who said Cantu ,that's one of the most drying conditioners i used.

Mane and Tail conditioner, the Herbal kind. Apparently it had too much protein for my hair and made it super hard to detangle, it smelled good though.

My hair was super easy to detangle with Aussie Moist, I stopped using it because they stopped using the almost litre sized bottles and I stopped using SLS recently.

When I went through a co-washing phase, my hair really disliked Herbal Essences. It's not complete crap but it doesn't do much for my hair at all in terms of really "conditioning".

EDIT: Tried more than one Herbal Essences conditioner -- I would say at least three and they all sucked pretty much.

Garnier Fructis Fortifying Conditioner Pure Clean.
It had no silicones, no parabens or dyes but the hair feels oily and unclean.

Nature's Gate Herbal Conditioner. Dry, tangled, crispy mess. I took a month for my hair to feel normal again.

My hair responds soooo well to Aussie Moist and I've read others who say the same.

Organic Root Stimulator doesn't work well for me.

Herbal Essences and Vo5 didn't work for me as my transition grew. Sure, they were fine when I relaxed and in the very early stages of my transition. But, as my hair got fuller and more natural, I had to leave them alone.

Cheap/drugstore conditioners (herbal essences, tresemme, etc). It took me a while to figure this out because they all felt good going on, gave good slip, helped me detangle, and felt moisturizing. The problem was that, in the long run, they were the cause of my dry hair. I'd blame the leave-ins, moisturizers, and stylers, but I found that once I stopped using these types of conditioners, my hair would hold moisture better.

VO5! When I tried cowashing with it, it sucked. People raved about it so I thought I didn't like cowashing. Then I discovered Aussie Moist and I've been in love with cowashing ever since.

WHAT?!?!

I have used AUSSIE MOIST for years... and it really is good stuff... I have the large with a pump :yep:
Not sure why you lost a ball of hair from it.

In fact, I rinse it out... and then I even put it back in my hair (as a leave in)... lots of it-- when I am doing curly wash n go.

Also cowashers... don't forget that you really should wash/ clarify your hair...

I keep a bottle of the V05 KIWI LIME Clarifying shampoo and conditioner in the shower...
If my hair doesn't feel right, its my "go to". I found that Roux Shampoo and Conditioner are great as well! :yep: I by-passed this product for years, before trying it and I  that stuff.

Sorry for the brief hi-jack-- In summary, Hair responds best to the conditioner on clean hair, free of build up.

I second Mane 'n Tail (regular)= :nono:

acapnleo,

I have the Roux Porosity Control shampoo and have no idea how to use it. How do you fit it into your regimen??

What do yo use now. Kiwi and Lime was my staples CO-wash conditioner but it stopped working once i started transitioning.
