Okay, here’s the deal I have no problem with people asking me about my hair. I’m a license stylist for goodness sake and talking about hair (mine or anyone else’s) is a good way to drum up business.

So why was I a little taken back when this young waitress at Olive Garden wanted to weave check me? Well, because for one the way she did it…I mean really, Im gonna need you not to ask me in front of the entire Olive Garden “is that yo natchel hair?” Really, REALLY!!!!

And two…because hell nawl this is not my natural hair, and Im just getting use to wearing this afro jerry weave hair, and I don’t need you bringing any attention to the fact that I'm trying to blend this mess with my fluffy fro!!!

…and to top it all off the Chicken and Nocchi soup was not the business today!!!

i don't like the "LOUD, BUST YOU OUT, ALL IN MY BUSINESS" - weave check.

if someone QUIETLY asks me "is that your hair?" or some variation of that question....cool. but not in a way that is as if to embarass me AND ON TOP OF IT, bring me nasty soup? oh hecks no!

Pretty much..LOL! She was just so loud and all eyes seemed to be on me, just waiting for an answer.

Why not just say "I like your hair"...end story.

I haven't worn weaves in over 10 yrs...so I guess Im feeling just a little self conscience. :look:

I hate how some women think it's ok to make a loud public scene when it comes to hair. Whatever happened to quietly addressing the person, give a compliment, and exchanging hair tips?

I went to a baby shower and saw a lady I hadn't seen in a year. She said (in front of a room full of people), "Ooh you hair grew so much! What vitamins are you using?" I said, "A weave." :lachen: Ain't no shame in my game, honey.

What did you say when she said that? I'd have been like, "honey boo boo chile, you know better."

LOL @ the bold. :lachen:

I just said "no"

Then she goes into how she wants to get a wet and wavy weave, but hers never looks good.

Some of her co-workers started to chime in on how my hair looks...

I then asked where the rest room was located...so I could weave check myself to make sure everything was in place! :spinning:

In the past when I would read post like yours OP, I wished I had been weave-checked in that manner. It seems much better than some strange arse woman inching closer & closer to you, then positioning herself behind you so she can inspect your head. Ugh! It's happened to me 1 time too many.

I would have just ignored her and changed the subject.

Women are the worst at this. Why there is a need to embarrass other women is ridiculous. It's usually based on jealousy.

As a waitress there have certainly been times where I wanted to ask about someone's hair, but I've always held back. I make $2.63 an hour, not including tips, so there is absolutely no way I'm going to chance loosing out on a tip because I just had to know whether or not someone is wearing a weave. That just stupid. Not to mention unprofessional, and the way she went about it was rude.

Jesus be a fence...you handled that very well. Because that could have gone left really fast. She was out of line and she knows it...smdh.

call me crazy but i think she meant it as in natural hair like 4a..4b.. usually if im weave checked is like "is dat yo reel hurr" or "wut kinda hurr iz dat?" not "is dat yo nachel hair?" ya know?

Women know what they are doing :yep: I hate when women disect me all out in public. I had one girl ask me "Do you have bronzer on your skin'? :look: and then she wanted to know if I had my teeth whitened :look: Really? Back off, damn!

I just tell people my hair is fake sometimes so that they can leave me alone. Buhahahaa!

BTW, that is a wig in my avatar and my real hair is the exact cut and length.

I normally were a bun, and sometimes I were my hear loose and curly co-washed. It is just over my shoulders.
One sunday I decided to flat iron, which makes me just over bs.
Then next morning in the bus I felt someone pulling my hear. I thought I imagined, then I felt it again. Looked around and older black lady looked at me angry... It had to be here in a bus full of yt people.
On the same bus every day, so I make sure I don't sit in front of here anymore, next thing you know she will bring some sciccors...

"Look old bitty, if you do that again I will break your fingers." :swearing::catfight:

We should just start telling people, "Instead of trying to bring someone down a notch, step yo game up."

OH WOW. That would not have ended well if it were me. She is BOLD. She pulls YOUR hair AND has the nerve to GET MAD WHEN YOU TURN AROUND? She got brass ovaries.
