Silk Bonnets Vs Silk Scarves

Sunny On a Cloudy Day
I have these bonnets and I have the scarves and the pillow cases too.

The pillow cases are my favorite and I am considering giving up the bonnets since I wear my hair in buns and up-dos 99.8% of the time. The pillow cases are heavenly. I also believe that all bonnets are the culprit of the breakage at my hairline and nape.

As a matter of fact, this post made me go and buy some more.

my bonnet scares me, when i wake up, my edges are so slicked down it looks like it's being broken off

I prefer scarves because I can control the tension and fit. I worry about hairline breakage with bonnets, and the one bonnet I liked is too loose for my head now. :(

I have two of the pretty antoinettes loc socks(covers). They are nice also. I use a satin pillow case too.

I wear a satin bonnet, but i tie a satin scarf round my edges first to ease up on the elastic from the bonnet.

I wear a bonnet. Embarrassing to say, but I can't tie a satin scarf correctly on my head. It would slide off every time I tried in the pass.

Question for those who use bonnets: Generally, how long can you use them before the elastic loosens and you, thus, have to buy another one?

When I DC overnight I use a plastic cap, covered by a bonnet, covered by a satin scarf (neem stinks). If my hair is in twists, I use my satin bonnet. If my hair is curly from a WnG, then I use my Buff. I like all of them. I've been using the same satin scarf from since I was a teen, that was handed down from my Mom.

I use a satin pillow case when I want to make sure my hair dries. When I am trying to protect the style I wear a satin bonnet. i have a bonnet with the 1" trim around it so it lays on my forehead and not my edges. I've had it for years. I don't buy the bonnets with that elastic gathering around it. It does eat at your edges.

I rarely wear a scarf.

I use a bonnet that ties with a string so I can control the tension. I LOVE it. I used scarves most of my life and I was getting to a point where they would give me headaches when tied properly so they wouldn't come off at night. I also hated the knot which would be at the front or back of my head, depending on the size of the scarf. I'm pretty sure this is it below, never mind about any growth treatment, they are tripping to even make that claim, LOL but the bonnet is pretty nice. I originally bought it to wear under hats but now I use it nightly.

scarf. it looks better than a bonnet. also i've never seen any real silk bonnets. i suppose you could make a silk bonnet but it just makes more sense to me to use the silk fabric as a scarf.

I've been doing satin pillowcases. I moisturise and seal and put the hair in a bun. Sometimes I use 15 denier tights.

My hair is still so short that bonnets protect my hair but make my hair stand up so scarves work better for me.

My hair has outgrown my bonnets to the point that all of my bonnets have a rip where the elastic meets the fabric.

So I've slowly transitioned to just using my satin pillowcases. Feels weird to have nothing on my head at night.

I slept with my head covered since i was in middle school!:dizzy:

I used to always wear scarves, but have recently started rotating in bonnets. I use a scarf when I want to help my hair lay down and a bonnet when I don't want my hair to get smashed.

Depends on how I'm wearing my hair. If I have a curly set or something that I don't want to flatten, I use my bonnet. Otherwise I use my scarf.

I've just bought a satin pillowcase and the darn thing is too small for my pillow. Didn't see that one coming. But I'm excited about the prospects of not having to wear a bonnet during the "good times" if ya know what I mean. :snugglecouch:

I prefer the bonnet simply because it stays on my head.

My satin scarf doesn't. Maybe I sleep wild, but the scarf is great for laying my hair smooth when I'm up and about.

Either one. If I have curls I use a bonnet, if it's straight I use a satin scarf. I have satin pillow cases as well but I don't feel comfortable with just a satin pillow case because I have been wearing a scarf every since I was very small so I feel like I'm doing something wrong with sleeping on a pillow case. And I have slept on just a satin pillow case when I was too intoxicated and when I woke up my hair felt like I slept without a scarf, maybe because it was more exposed to the environment

Are bonnets those baggy shower cap looking things:look:

What I have is a scarf that comes all the way round and ties as a bow at the front kinda. It may still be classed as a bonnet not sure, but it's close to the head. It's either that or the satin case. I prefer the case.
