Since I chopped what, 3 monthst afo or more. My hair has grown ( approx. 2inches) and yesterday i got a trim because my ends were dry as hell ( approx one inch now).

So I'm forgetten about just achieveing growth and getting mositure ( which I feel will aid growth but I'm trying to enjoy my twa while I can).

I noticed my hair loves water and conditioning. So decided to do no poos and shampoo with Con once a week when i deep condition ( which I might deep condition twice a week now because my hair is so dry). But when my hair dries it feels like Brillo
. I know I'm getting use the the new texture...but I feel that Brillo is not a sign of healthy moistioned hair ( Maybe I just inexperienced).

So Can I put my regular Vo5 and Suave conditoners in a bottle with the filtered britta water and possibly olive and jojoba and spray my hair during the day? Will that help keep it mositurizered?

Is there a difference in ingredients between the washout and leavin conditioners? I know some of the conditioners have SLS, but mine don't so can I use them?

Sounds like you have a great idea. I do this sometimes. Just don't use to much conditioner in the water because it will have a soaping effect.

I see no reason why you can't. A lot of people here do it. I even use my V05 Strawberries & Cream conditioner as a leave-in from time-to-time. It should help with keeping your hair moisturized.

I'm not sure how much of a difference there is ingredient wise in rinse out conditioners and leave-in conditioners, but I'm sure there's some difference. I will continue to use some of my rinse out conditioners as leave-in conditioners once in a while because it hasn't harmed my hair in any way.

Have you tried curl activator? If I let my hair air dry in an afro w/o it, it looks like cheap, matted carpeting.

I use my own version of MotownGrl's Leave-In and a mixture of S-Curl Spray (blue & white bottle) and Proclaim Activator Gel. I do this to make the gel thinner and wetter. Worlds of Curls is good, too. But Proclaim is cheaper and smells better, IMO.

I'm natural and my hair was so dry before I got the skinny on conditioning washes. Now, I can do fewer conditioner washes because my hair is in much better shape.

I never thought I could use conditioner as a leave in, but I did the other day and it was MARVELOUS! Shampooed with CON, did a quick condition, towel dried, and then rubbed dimed sized (a couple cuz kinky hair doesn't acknowledge a dime sized anything)portion of Suave Humectant in each of four large sections of hair. I braided (read plaited) it and let it air dry. The hair was so soft! I combed thru without any oil or heard no "snap crackle pop." I think I'm hooked.

I'm going to have to try using regular conditioner as a leave-in. I can't seem to find any leave-in that compares to Biolage and it's so pricey that I'd like to eventually wean myself from it! I have Suave Humectant which I love and V05 Strawberries and Cream. Will have to give it a try full strength and diluted!

I did it.

This morning I confitioner was (2x) with suave lavendar, the second time I put my condtion cap on and continued washing in the shower. Before I rinse it out I combed my hair with a wie tooth comb.

I followed motown girls recipe and ( i don't know eaxct measurements but...) I mixed alot vo5 strawberry and creme conditioner conditioner, with alittle but equals amounts of EVOO and UBH dew.

As soon as I condition was my hair felt shoft, and after I put in my leave in it look nice and coily ( my 4a COILS WERE PROMINENT) and shiny.

As it dried my hair it wasn't as shiny, due to the low sheen of my hair, but it felt nice and soft ( like wool) and my ends didn't have the annoying knots at the end of my coils
. My coils still are defined, for a while I though thinking I have a mixture of 4a and 4b textures the "4c hair". But I see it is currently a frizzy 4a.

I'm going to continue this regimen ( morning and night),and shampoo and deep conditioner twice a week this month. Hopefully in a month or two I can see I really change in my hair quality.

thanks everyone, I am so happy

Isn't that recipe wonderful?! I don't know why It never occured to me to mix all the stuff I put in my hair into one bottle.

I'm having a lot of fun trying out different cheap conditioners to make it with. So far, my best formulation has been with Suave Biobasics conditioner (fake Biolage Conditioning balm).

I tried using my conditioner as a leave in with good results, but I'm just worried. Arn't some ingredients meant to be washed out and wouldn't they be harmful if left in the hair. It seems to be that these ingredients would be left out in a bought leave in.

Also...where can I find rosewater and glycerine

yes ma'am

when I had my twa, I, too, used Suave Humectant as a leave-in. And I would follow up with African Royal Braid Spray. That was the only thing that conditioned my hair!

The downfall was that it would take at least 2 days after washing before my hair was cottony soft.

This was before I knew about conditioner washes. I bet if I had done daily conditioner washes at night, leave in the Suave Humectant and African royal braid spray, and then flattwist or bantu know my hair at night to set, I would've been able to "tame" my natural hair more

I feel you on that Brillo pad effect. I think it's because our natural hair dries so quickly that the water doesn't have time to actually hydrate it. Usually using some type of setting technique can keep that moisture in. Try it at night though, just in case you don't like your wet set (I wasn't too fond of small bantu knots
)

my hair is too short to set...I really can't do anything with it but wear it out and my maybe twist. But after my trim I think it's even to short for that to saty in for two long...I see how much it grows during the fall and maybe I'll get some braids for winter or wear twist, braids in my hair, or bantu knots
