2 inches in 4 months Challenge (Sep-Dec 2012)

I searched to see if another challenge like this was already going on and there hasn't been one since earlier this year. I am eager to gain at least two inches before the year is over.

(I copy and pasted the below text from the last thread as I couldn't really say it any better :spinning:)

If you would like to join, click the thanks button and give us a little introduction of yourself. Info you might want to include:

1. Starting pic (highly recommended)
2. Regimen
3. Long and/or short term goals
4. Healthy hair journey history

Like the other challenges, we're going to support and encourage one another, provide helpful suggestions, mourn setbacks and in general be supportive of one another in meeting our hair growth goals.

**Also this challenge starts officially September 1st and ends December 31, 2012***

***Anyone is welcome to jump in at anytime though after September 1st :spinning:***

I also will have to wait to post pics, camera is down. But I am at bsl after my recent trim.

2. Regimen: Wash 1-2x week, going back in forth between wash n' go's, banding, rolleset, and flat iron styles. I have also fallen off completly with vitamins I will be starting back next week with Multivitamins, Omega 3's, and my daily superfood smoothie. I'm really taken that for the benefit for both my hair and skin.
3. Long and/or short term goals: Short term: Full MBL, Long term: Waist Length. Secretly, I hoping to gain 3 inches in 4 moths but want a minimum of two.
4. Healthy hair journey history: I started exactly one year ago after cutting just to just above apl. I grew to mbl this summer but had to cut back to bsl due to ratty ends. Now I want to grow back to full mbl.

I'm in!! That'll definitely bring me to full APL by years end.

1. Starting pic (highly recommended): Will have one on Friday (my Birthday ) when I do my APL Challenge length check.
2. Regimen: Co-cleanse, oil rinse & condition 2-3x's a week. Weekly overnight DC with MT Mix. Primary style will be WnG's till summers end, then curly twist-outs. Last trim for the year should be in September with the SplitEnder.
3. Long and/or short term goals: Short term goal is full APL. Long term goal is WHip Length.
4. Healthy hair journey history: I had SEVERE postpartum hair loss, and BC'ed Feb 2011. Texturized my TWA, transitioned, then BC'ed Again Nov 2011. Hit SL Dec 2011. Finally locked in a regimen after finding Wen sometime this spring, and then started using the CG Technique. Texturized again in June (better texurizer, and looks a Lot better) to define my frizzy curls, and have been rocking WnG's all Summer. I DIY everything, and my hair has been super healthy...minus that incident with the stupid a** Denman Brush:fistshake:.

Im in! I've been drinking more water, taking my Hair Skin and Nails vitamin, and I start my gym time on the 1st. I'll post in detail later, im on my phone.

ETA:
1. Starting pic: Will post when I get home today!

2. Regimen: Daily, I oil my scalp with my essential oil mix(I actually do this every other day), apply castor oil to my nape and edges, and moisturize my hair from roots to ends. Every Saturday/Sunday, I co-wash with Oyin Honey Hemp, and DC with Organic Root Reconstructing Conditioner. I air dry for 30 min, then blow dry for 5. Once I get some more money, I may buy another bottle of Megatek.

3. Long and/or short term goals: Short term, get my hair to stay moisturized. My hair is really dry right now(I recently took down braids, shampooed, DC'ed, air dried, and flat twisted after moisturizing and sealing. I took down the flat twists, and my hair was extremely dry at the roots.) I also want to master the twist out. Long term, get those two inches! And continue to nurture my nape and edges. They are growing in nicely so far, just need to keep it up! Lastly continue my daily intake of 2 bottled waters, my Hair Skin and Nail vitamin, and I'll be starting the gym the first week of September.

4. Healthy hair journey history: I've been improperly flat-ironing and relaxing my hair for years! I knew nothing about having healthy/natural hair, and I was a slave to the salon. Finally decided to chop it down back in 2010, I wanted a Rihanna/Keri Hilson short 'do. Ended up hating it of course, but that was my last relaxer. From then until January 2012, if I was not flat ironing my real hair, it was in weaves or braids. And applying Megatek mixed with oil everyday. I was flat ironing on too high temperature and too frequently. I now have heat damaged hair at my center part area:perplexed, and I have not flat ironed my hair since January 2012, which is when I officially started my HHJ and started posting more actively on LHCF. I learned a lot of about hair products, and I also bought Grow It! and Ultra Black Hair Growth II books. My relaxer has almost fully grown out, just need to cut off the ends. Now I am working on retaining length and moisture. I don't consider myself fully natural as of yet. Lastly, I stopped going to salons in April 2012, after I overpaid for a lazy and rushed installation of Kinky Twists.

Word ... let's do this!

1. Starting pic: This picture was taken on the 30th or 31st of July. I apologize that it is not more recent but I am not asking my hubs to take another length until December. IMG_20120801_142510.jpg

2. Regimen: Good lawd ... that is a tough one. I have been and will continue PSing for length retention. Right now, I have my hair twisted in medium twists. It is my goal to do mini braids very soon so I can see what that be like. Aside from that, I co-wash at least once a week (sometimes more, depending on the style my hair is in), I will d/c with a moisturizing conditioner every two weeks, and I will shampoo (diluted) about once per month. I will back totally off the hard protein treatments for a couple of months and use SAA in spritz like once a week or something.

3. Long and/or short term goals: Short-term goal is to figure out my moisture/protein balance and to get the Komaza Hair Analysis because I stalk that thread and I want to know what Jenn has to say about my hair.

Long-term goal is to grow two inches of hair in four months ... church.

4. Healthy hair journey history: I accidentally transitioned in braids from November 2009 until August 2010 and I have been natural since. I got tired of being a slave to the beauty salon and feeling like I couldn't live my life right if my hair stylist didn't do my hair that week. I am loving the journey and I am looking forward to all of the milestones/goals I will achieve with my hair ... yeah buddy!

I am looking forward to getting to know you all better and I am looking forward to us all getting this two inches by December child. :yep:

pelohello I used Linange Shea Butter Texturizer, with 2tbs of Aussie 3min. I used the conditioner as insurance, although its so mild I may skip it next time. I LOVE this texturizer....no damage, no burn, and it didn't kill my curls. It did a great job of taking out the frizz, and encouraging my curls to clump. I also used the Linange Neutralizing Conditioner, which was pretty great as well.

I'll join. I'm natural 4a, BSL ish.

Regimen-weekly-prepoo, wash, DC, air dry, bun. Moisturize & seal daily. Protein every other week. Baggy nightly.

My goal is for MBL in early part of 2013 & gain and retain .5 inches per month. Long term goal is to reach WL.

Healthy hair journey history- ever since I found this site April 2011, my hair has been flourishing. I'm just trying to reach WL and then I'll be satisfied. I think!

See below for pic.

I'm in. I love this challenge. 4 months is so doable.

1. Starting pic (highly recommended): see attached. I just snipped about 3/4 inch off yesterday, so my hair right now should be a tad bit shorter.
2. Regimen: I'm doing a mix between curly girl, conditioner only and patchouli 85 deep conditioning with every wash (weekly). I'm going to try to stick with twist or buns for the time period. I want to straighten once around late october or maybe thanksgiving. We'll see. And my main goal for the next 4 months is going to be to treat my hair better. Detangle in smaller sections with more gentle stokes, especially in my crown area which is weaker then the rest.
3. Long and/or short term goals: My short term goal is to even out my hemline and have a nice blunt U shape. Long term goal is to grow hair out to TBL. Also, I want to get better at flat ironing and styling my hair.
4. Healthy hair journey history: In 2006 I cut all my hair off and went natural. My goal was to grow out to HL, which I hit late last year or early this year, I can't remember. Now I want to improve on my hair health and and get better at styling.

I haven't been in here in forever a and I haven't been really strict with my regimen either so I'm in!

1. Starting pic (highly recommended)
I'll take one later but I'm at MBL

2. Regimen
I've fallen off a bit so I don't have a solid one but here's what I'm going to try:
Deep Condition once a week
Co-wash once a week
Moisturize and Seal every other day or when needed
Bee Mine Serum every other day

3. Long and/or short term goals
Long Term: Waist Length by the end of 2012
Short Term: Keep up my Regimen and lay off the heat!

4. Healthy hair journey history
My hair has always been long-ish but I have a bad habit of destroying it with heat and then having to get a huge trim. I've done this at least 3 or 4x's last cut was in March and it was cut to Apl

I hope I stay on track this time!! :)

Why not. I can definitely use two inches.

I am 4b, low porosity, natural.

1. Starting pic (highly recommended)
...Will use my avi for now and will update Sept 4.
Aug12LCP1 (640x392).jpg Aug12LCP2 (222x640).jpg

1" for me is the tip of my nose
2" for me is the top of my lip.

2. Regimen
I wash, DC with heat weekly and cowash midweek.
I moisturize 1 to 2x a day.
I color every 8 weeks.

3. Long and/or short term goals
Short term goals: Long enough to twist and then a puff.

Long term goals: BSB. Will decide if I want to go further after that.

4. Healthy hair journey history
Have been on my journey for 2 years but had to big chop a month ago due to heat damage. My hair is currently 2 to 3" long. Still learning how to keep it properly moisturized after all this time.

I have made a lot of changes recently and hopefully they will help me improve my growth and retention.
...Healthy Eating Plan
...Daily supplements: multivitamin, vegetable smoothie, iron, biotin, vitamin D, hair vitamins
...Water: 60 oz
...Exercise 3 to 5 days a week

My current regiment: Actually includes a once/10 days heat regiment. Once per week shampoo, 2x per week DC, 1x week co-wash... Flexi rod set for co-wash. Blow dry and flat iron after shampoo wash. Extreme moisturizing for heat processing.

I am also apart of the Sept-Dec MN Challenge... http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=638161 So hopefully this will increase my growth as well :)

My short term goal is to retain healthy, full hair; less breakage and adding more moisture.

My long term goal is to reach WL (2014) and to CONTINUOUSLY grow longer, healthy hair.

Started my healthy hair journey in June of this year (2012) and have been on it since the day I started. Vitamin intake and moisture-rich conditioning are my top priority.

Should be getting my vitamins tomorrow. That really helped me last year when I was in this challenge. I got at least 2.5 inches of growth during Sep-December.
