Im so upset right now I just want to cry... So I made an appointment to get braids/micro braids 2 weeks ago and have studied up on how to maintain them with natural hair.... Ive been to this place before several times but never gotten micros.... She says come in that Saturday 10am and call ahead of time...

Bump ahead to that saturday and I call 1 hour before im going to head that way.. And shes like why didnt u call on friday..wtf u didnt say that ****.. So shes like well come at 3pm... At this point im so frustrated because I have other things to do but i say ok...

I get there and after explaining to her again how i want my hair she says well your hair is natural and long so u need 18inches.. Im like you didnt say that when i told u my hair was 8-9 inches long.. I told her i dont care if they end up looking like small box braids as long as you just braid all of my hair into the braids she says 180 for this now...Ok grrrr, and then I had to wait until 5pm instead of 3pm because she was on someone elses head... This entire time im thinking damn Im suppose to go to dinner tonight with fiance and daugter and its going to be late....She starts and gets done at 11:40 I couldnt really see hair to good because i wasnt to close to mirror but it felt nice and wasnt too thick and not tight like i wanted...

I ended up going to Fridays for dinner and SO kept looking at me, I get home and look in my bathroom mirror and this B@tch didnt braid to the end of my hair... It looks so fuking crazy Im embarrased to wear this in the daylight... My real hair is more like a 4 because of some color i have on ends but fake hair is a 2 so its noticeable ( i didnt mind this if hair was braided all the way down) omg what can i do, I dont want to spend anymore money on this crap and right now i have it in a bun but dang omg i dont know what to do im so frustrated and want to punch her in the face and cry at the same time...

You've seen this situation over and over again on this board...
When u walk into a salon and it starts out bad its going to end up bad
U paid ur money u should get what u paid for
Let me ask u question why did u leave the salon if u were uncomfortable with ur hair ?
Why didn't u pick the correct color for ur hair before putting in?

Did you not read the information I provided...Again I didnt mind the two tone color because I told her i wanted hair braided all the way down past ends....

And I wasnt uncomfortable while in the salon I didnt notice it until I got home late last night..

Either way Im asking for input on what I should do since she didnt do what she was suppose to or atleast what i can do to make it look right.

Regarding leaving if she was uncomfortable with her hair, she said, "She starts and gets done at 11:40 I couldnt really see hair to good because i wasnt to close to mirror but it felt nice and wasnt too thick and not tight like i wanted...
"

I don't think she clarified on the hair color.

OP, I know you are really upset right now because you wasted the money but you still have your hair! Go back to her and tell her to finish the job or take them out and give your money back. The silver lining is you still have your hair! I read so many stories on this board about chemical processes gone wrong and other hair disasters. This one is fixable with few long term affects other than the fact that you'll likely be annoyed for awhile. Good luck and this too shall pass.

Is it too late to have her braid it to the ends and would that make it look better?

I would go back and have her finish and explain to her how you been going there for a while no with no problems and now this is the first time you are unhappy and she needs to correct the situation but giving you what you wanted in the first place.

I wouldnt mind going back to have her fix it as long as she doesnt try to charge me again...
I just text her a long a$$ message about my issue and frustration and asking her to fix it... I also specifically asked her why she didnt braid past my hair when i asked you to do that before we started..

I agree with the above, don't feel like you obligated to pay someone 180 dollars and walk around looking stupid. if she refuses, sit outside of her store and tell everyone bout to walk in don't go because she fuc$ed up your hair lol I'm surprised your fiancé said nothing. My SO other mouth would of dropped and he would of said "wtf, o he!! No we going up there tomorrow to fix this ish, and I'm going with you!" And he would of said "you still look beautiful just your hair looked jacked up" and then laughed. And we would of had dinner and called her all kind of stupid bitc&$ and stuff and prepared to get up in the morning to pay her a visit. So in other words, make it happen, I hope you have a receipt in case you need a lawyer or need to take her to small claims court or something GOOD LUCK! I hate when people get taken advantage of!

I guess I'm different when getting my hair done especially braids
I pick my hair and make sure it's what I want
I'm always by the mirror making sure its done right size and all
I would think in a salon they would sit u in front of one that alone gives me chills because that's the easiest way to jack someone's hair up

Some people are nasty they will not fix ur hair after leaving the salon but go back and tell her ur complaints and I hope she fixes it for u but this should be easy to fix .....don't go with an attitude be nice

Want to risk sitting in her chair again?

Hairdressers are like chefs to me; I'd never send food back in fear of what they might do to it, just like I'd never sit again for someone to correct a jacked up job on my hair in fear of them doing something to my hair. And judging by the customer service you've described so far, that is not far fetched. You did also mention that there was no mirror near you so if you do have her correct it, it is highly likely that you wont be able to watch her intensely as she corrects the problem.

Do you know how to braid? A situation like this would ensure that I became a do-it-yourselfer.

How unprofessional of her. It's reason #2358 why I no longer go to the salon. What you need to do is call her and tell her that you need her to finish what you paid her to do. Don't just turn up there, because if you're anything like me, it'll end up on WSHH!:lachen:

I'm still stuck on letting someone work in your hair for 5 hours and then not looking at it before leaving. Better yet, paying $180 for something and not seeing the finished product. Smh

I had that problem not once but twice...smdh..the first time I let it fly n made due..but when I went to a different person n got my hair done..they did the same exact thing o_O..I paid 200 for the twist for my ends to be looking raggedy becuz they weren't braided all the way down...oh hell no..not this time...I politely went back n told her it looked a mess n that she need to fix it...she didn't rebraid the ends but she added a little crinkle look to it so it didn't look as bad...but she did something...n I never went back again

I'm glad she's letting you come back without putting up a fuss. And I'm glad you're taking a mirror!

This happened to me last year I think? She told me she would finish braiding to the end, but always was too busy. My mom and I ended up taking the knots out and braiding it ourselves, then putting the knot back in. I looked really good after. I was in this exact situation. My ends had blonde highlights from a color I was growing out and the hair left out was a bushy mess.

I'm glad she's fixing it. I'd stand in front of the mirror in case she tries to get revenge by jacking up your real hair.

We need to understand not all black women are assertive when it comes to our hair!
Some of us are more gentle and less likely to kick up a fuss.
But it's good that you OP have managed to go back for it to be fixed.

It's no big deal using the same stylist. Often they're eager to impress 2nd time around, so they aren't likely to want to jack up your hair! What would they gain from that?

If in the end you're still not happy speak to the salon owner and make a formal complaint. For those who are less assertive its always good to put things in writing. They have to take you seriously and you're more likely to get the refund.

Didn't get a chance to take pics before... But I went back and she fixes most of the braids by undoing knots and braiding and knotting back... Since there are a few more like that in the middle of my head she said shed take my hair down when I'm ready... But I finally oiled my scalp sprayed the length of braids and bunned it... We shall see how this goes for 3 - months
