BSL...it was so easy to get APL, but a year and a half later I am still here. I think it's because I was too excited about my hair length and I started straightening it too much, but hopefully that will change

Mine was bsl because I had to put real effort toward achieving it. Everyone has a length of reasonably healthy hair that they can achieve with no effort(change in routine) and my length was apl. To get bsl I had to stick to healthy hair practices and find the products for my hair consciously. I had never done that before, so it took some trial and error to figure it out.

For me, BSL is the hardest. I didn't break a sweat getting to APL. But it always seems like I'm just an inch away from BSL but not quite there yet. Maybe I need to stop checking lol

i said hip length because from my waist to my hip is sooo long! i feel like I've been at waist length forever!

It was APL, but that was due to two major haircuts in four years and a lot of my own scissor happy handling. Now I have finally gotten past APL, BSB/BSL just keeps eluding me. I need to get on a low manipulation "diet" for the winter and I know that will get me through.

I made apl it didn't seem so bad but I'm trying to get to bsl now and it feels like it's going to be a doozey.

Tlb took FOREVER!!! That was the hardest because the wait just took so long.

Currently I'm waiting on sl. The wait isn't killing me yet, not like waiting for tlb but it's a ,lose 2mos lol

For me APL was the most difficult to get to. It seemed like after i made it to that goal the rest was a breeze. :yep:

So far waist length. I've surpassed it in the back but along the sides and front I am only BSB/MBL. :(

apl.... the friction my hair got was brutal for me...

My ends stayed dry & broke off .

I had to do a 10 mo stretch to pass that stage

Midback length took forever the first time, and I'm not sure why. Bunning helped me break the plateau and get to that length.

For me is MBL. I'm grazing it now, but its been a long year. I had a few setbacks that set me back stuck at BSL.

-I didn't know about dusting (or didn't pay much attention to it) until Nonie really highlighted the importance of it.

-I overdid it on the heavy protein - Aphrogee. I need protein, but heavy is not good for my hair.

-I didn't know how important it was to get rid of shed hairs when washing and detangling. I had a lot of knots of tangles.

-I had very heavy shedding from having low ferritin levels. I was able to correct that this spring.

my nape reaches past apl...because it's just easier for that part of my hair to reach there due to where it is on my body

the rest of my hair, however, is like "hell no! we wont go!" i really cant wait for the rest of my hair to make it to apl...frustrating! i was focusing on that back part of my hair getting to bsl when the year started, but i think going into 2013, im going to focus on the rest of my hair getting to apl. the nape area will probably reach my bra by the time the rest gets to my armpit, but whatever.

just keep up with what works for me, i guess...and be patient. arrrrgh patience! lol

Can you believe that I don't know the answer to this? This is because I have never TIMED any progress. Put another way, "a watched kettle never boils" so I don't watch it. So for every journey I've been on, be it weight loss or hair growth, I just focus on the now and do what I need to do w/o worrying about how well it's working for me or how long it will take. That's also why I never set deadlines. I let the results surprise me.

So when I got to SL, that was a surprise. I had no idea I was already there. Actually I discovered I was at SL when I was already at CBL (which means I had been at SL for quite a while since we all know SL starts from the end of NL and then because of the slant of shoulders, you stay at SL till you're at CBL which is aka Full SL).

Then APL was also a surprise. I was redoing a twist and I thought my hair felt like it was stretching longer than I remember...so I went to the mirror to look and voilà! I had made APL!!! So far, this was just the nape hair I was stretching to the length marks. When the area above my ear reached APL, that was also a surprise--again, discovered while redoing twists.

And the only reason I knew I was at BSB was when someone asked me how far my hair stretches and I checked. So for me, none of the milestones have been "a long way coming" because I didn't squint to try to see them from afar. I didn't think about them at all. I just tried to enjoy the journey and each achievement found me by surprise. So for me, even if I don't have a fast growth rate, I have not found any of the length milestones challenging at all.

So when I do get to MBL or WL, I will not be able to say how long it took because I honestly don't keep track like that. It will all feel like it's been a seamless trip coz I ain't sweating it.

Like most ladies here, APL for a variety of reasons, not least that it was at that stage I yanked my hair 20x a day to see if it'd grown since the last half hour I checked:rolleyes:.

My solution has been to just make sure my hair is dced at least weekly and ignore the length, it'll creep p on you.

I chose APL because relaxed or natural I haven't reached that goal. After my second chop I promised myself I would never have to cut off so much of my hair again. I hated that feeling too when I had a relaxer, always feeling as though I was starting over again and again. I wear my hair naturally now and I believe once I reach APL the things I learned and applied to get there will be what carries me through to my future goals. So far I've learned length retention is key and it's been the thing I took most for granted and paid least attention to all my life. HHG to all!!
