Your Best Detangling Method

W/ a cowash: 8 sections in the shower. I use fingers, magic star jumbo rake, and a conditioner w/ lots of slip(usu. Tresemme Naturals).

W/ a DC: I mix my dc with olive oil. Then conditioner w/ loads of slip is mixed into or put on top of the dc. Detangle the 8 sections in the shower w/ fingers and a magic star jumbo rake.

I lightly finger detangle with my oil prepoo first usually. I'll do it again while rinsing out my conditioner in the shower, and then fully detangle with a wide tooth comb or Denman with my leave in on damp hair. Twist each section immediately after detangling. I don't give my hair a chance to coil back on itself once I've detangled. I'm natural

I soak my hair with water, cover with Tresseme Naturals Con, separate into 4 parts, and detangle with my wide tooth comb. Takes maybe 5 minutes at the most. I'm natural.

I detangle on dry hair, covered in oil, using my fingers patiently. Every once in a while, I detangle on dampened, conditioned and oiled hair. I have very fine strands with a medium-low density.

I always prepoo using some kind of coconut/olive oil or conditioner under shower. I am natural so wet hair works using a wide tooth comb.

I washed my hair with my weave in 2 days prior to removal. The night before I oiled my cornrows generously and slept with a baggy on. My weave came out so easily and my hair was super soft. Detangling with 3 months of new growth was easy as pie.

i wash my hair with hair one and leave the hairone in my hair for as long as possible the longer i leave the hairone in the easier it is for me to finger detangle. then i rinse and let it air dry a little before finishing the detangling process

Anybody, after you detangle in the shower, as soon as you get out it becomes tangled again? I try to only air dry or pat my hair dry but it becomes immediately tangled again.

I part my hair is 6 sections after its CW to make the process more manageable. While still dripping water, I add my moisturizing DC. Then I place a plastic cap and tie a scarf to secure cap on my head. Depending on my schedule I either do my chores for about 3-4hrs or sit under heat for appx. 1 hr. By the time I'm ready to detangle my hair is moisturized and pliable. While conditioner is still in my hair, I use my original Magic Star Rake seamless comb to detangle each section from ends to roots.

bhndbrwneyes, yes / no. If I agitate my hair too much after detangling - yes. Otherwise, not really. There may be a few tangles but they slip out easily when combing.

1. Prepooing overnight in a plastic cap with olive oil or sunflower oil. This method is especially effective when I'm not combing at all for weeks but still washing my hair. Works like a charm.

2. Conditioner works very well for me too. That V05 Strawberries and Creme is a good detangler on wet hair.

3. Otherwise just loads of moisture on dry hair and I can separate my strands with my fingers alone.

SexySin985 I usually use Long Aid curl activator but my favorite is Worlds of Curls. Activator gel is my moisturizer, and the only thing I put on underneath is Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage serum

I don't really care much for leave-ins.

My hair is only sl at its longest layer and I am relaxed. I never try to comb my hair wet. It used to be too weak but getting stronger from henna, sukesh, amla treatments. I just don't have the patience :nono:

I used to just put on my leave ins then tie a scarf on to air dry. When 85% dry it would detangle pretty easily.

I have found that an acv final rinse dissipates every single tangle. It is the bomb!! After this rinse and then plain water rinse, I can comb wet without losing a single strand!!!

Also, my hair stays detangled until my next wash.

My dd's hair that hadn't been 'done' in aprox 2 weeks, melted as in no tangles after i mixed honey, coconut oil, & cheapie coconut conditioner. Left that on her hair for a couple of hours and then combed thru while wet - easily!

I believe some people call this the GHE. I do this sometimes. It works really well. I even do it on dry hair after M & S.

My hair isn't super long yet (APL/BSB) but it gets sooo tangled if Im not careful.

To detangle I have to:
* Separate strands and tangles with my hair before I get in the shower
* Braid Hair in four sections
* Unbraid one section and shampoo, rinse, condition, rebraid and continue until all sections have conditioner on them
* Unbraid first section and comb thru with wide tooth comb- If really tangled use my Deman brush rebraid and rinse hair while still in braid.
