cinnespice...yup that's it. He101...that stuff is no joke! I'm a hair novice...i know alot about different hair from reading/researching but I don't have much first hand experience. This thread is helping big time. I am determined not to waste my money on bad hair again. I know I need to stop being cheap though.

It is good to know that a decent install can be achieved with 4-6 oz of EP though the closures are as expensive as 2 oz.

If you are a weave client, what brand/kind of hair do you use for your installs? EPRT with a halleys salon relaxed closure

Does this hair shed or tangle? very minimal

Do you seal your wefts prior to the install? No

How long has this hair lasted you? How many installs have you used it for? If you take really good care of it, it will last you a few installs. I purchased the hair over the christmas holidays when the had a buy two bundles get one free deal.

Does she cut the wefts or fold and sew? (This may have a bearing on how much $$ I spend on the hair...) Based on the style I wanted she had to cut the wefts

She may be opening her book soon and if I can get an appt, I think I'm going to get a weave for a few months to gain a few effortless inches... You wont be disappointed

Hi LisaMar...how do you like the HC closure?

Do you know how often EP has sales?

With the full weave, can you style your hair in a high pony?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks a bunch!

@LivingDoll Was the sealer you used he101.
http://http://hairextensions101.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=120
From what i can tell certain hair needs to be sealed so it does't shed. I sealed my senghori shells with he101 sealant. It is strong smelling i had to sit by the porch door and open it while i sealed the hair.

i had wagmans hair and it did not need sealing because the
wefts were so strong like teflon. It's good quality hair but they have gone up in price a lot and if it's that expensive i might as well indulge and get extensions plus. The last batch i had to throw it away cause the stylist sliced up my wefts even though i told her i was reusing it.

@gabulldawg is the place you are going to called 3 girls and needle. My sister keeps talking about that place in atlanta. I might either go to reniece or when i go back to atlanta i will get an install down there.

kinkycurlyyaki is sold out but yes i found out about it on bhm. I will never use hailey's curl i have heard too much bad stuff about them, bss hair is really bad and senghori shells is just bad doesn't flat iron well or take a curl.
Its good to know that i can order about 4 to 6oz of hair and have a decent install with extensions plus.

No I have never been there. A fellow member is actually doing my hair. She is really good at sew ins and is into healthy hair care, so it's a win-win. I've used her a couple of times and loved the way my hair turned out. I may try them if she ever stops doing sew ins or moves or something.

I think I want to be able to put my hair in a high ponytail. How does that work?

yes you can wear a high pony, you would have to leave hair out all around your perimeter so that your own hair can cover the tracks when you wear an updo.

i did this with my first install. i was mad i did. when i took the weave down the first time, the back and sides didn't retain as much growth because they were manipulated more and exposed to the elements. the braided hair was not. i chose not to leave out my sides and nape anymore after that. reason being, i was wearing the weave to grow my hair, retain maximum length by hiding my hair and giving myself a break....that being said, the more hair you leave out, the more hair you manipulate. at the end of the year, i ended up having to trim the crown of my hair to make it even with the nape. (does that make sense?):spinning:

Yeah I'm reconsidering it now. But I'll at least leave out the front edges and top for blending. :scratchch I'm also reconsidering a touch up. May just not worry about that, either.

I love the closure because it looks so realistic. The hair and closure matches perfectly just like Reneice said they would. I am very pleased and the completes are endless. I cannot put my hair in a high ponytail because of the style I chose which was fine with me. When Reniece asked me what I preferred I actually chose to stay away from ponytails for a this install at least. To my knowledge, EP has sales but the best sale I believe is during the Christmas holiday only someone correct me if I'm wrong.

LisaMar..thanks. That helps. I wondering...it seems like she prefers to do styles with relaxed texture hair. Have you seen anyone use brazilian, peruvian or other wavy styled hair?

LisaMar

No. I haven't seen anyone use the kinds of hair you mentioned but then again when she does your hair you are in a private room. Each client hair is done in private. When it comes to the kind of hair you use, I guess its just personal preference. IMO, its all the same hair just processed differently.

this is what i do too. i leave out a small area along the front edge and top for blending. the rest is braided up. so far that strategy has served me well.

EPRT wearers, I hear the hair can tend to grow/swell a bit in humidity. Has this been an issue for you?

the eprt relaxed hair acts just like real human hair that grew out of your scalp. if it gets wet, it reverts. in humidity, it reverts (albeit not as fast as your real hair would) but to me that's what is wonderful about the hair. no more reverted, frizzy leave out and bone straight weave hanging down your back when it rains. that way you look like a normal person. IMHO

So, after speaking with another forum member and careful thought...I think I'm going to try one of the Junior Stylists that trained under Reniece. They work in the shop with her. I don't need a miracle. I need a weave for protective styling purposes only. I'm confident in their abilities since they were trained by the one and only.

LivingDoll - me too!

I'm going to purchase my hair first. Extenstions Plus hair is equivalent to a car note. (After I purchase, I'm going to give them a call). I'm opting for a closure as well. I may need a little help with that. I hear Extensions Plus closures are a little thick.

@bronzebomb

I'm going to purchase my hair first too. I'm thinking I'll try a less expensive brand hair to start (prob from Aliexpress). I have a tendency not to stick with things sometimes, and I don't want to make that investment to find out that I don't want to keep getting weaves. I'm planning to PS with weaves for a year though. We'll see. I have a crazy dry scalp and I don't know if I'll be able to stick with it that long.

@LivingDoll

I tried Halley's Curls first and I had it installed by Tamika Bell In Atlanta. While my hair lasted, I was not fond of the texture and the color. I purchased Gentle Wave Relaxed. My edges also broke off. (but I think I have weak edges, so no slight to Tamika Bell). My entire head, minus the edges, grew about 2 inches in 7 weeks)

If I don't purchase The EPRT, I'll purchase Halley's Curls Salon Relaxed and have it dyed black.

I think the junior stylist is perfect. I've included pictures of my hair (with weave and the breakage afterwards)

@bronzebomb

Girl, did you ever read any of my posts about the HC Gentle Wave Relaxed install I had? :nono: It was THE. ABSOLUTE. WORST. EVER. That hair was dry, stiff, thick, dull, and wouldn't hold a curl. I felt like I was wearing a rug on my head. I purchased the hair during a sale, and later I read on BHM that HC has sales when they want to get rid of bad batches. That's prob right. People do speak highly of the HC Salon Relaxed though. :yep: That closure will prob be good (well hopefully anyway).

2 inches in 7 weeks is awesome growth. I'll take that!

ETA: You're very pretty! You favor one of my good friends. I like the weave and how it was styled. Had you experienced breakage like that before?

LivingDoll - thank you!!! You are too kind.

I have never ever ever ever experienced breakage like that before. I almost cried...nope, I did cry. However, this was my first professional install. So, I'm going to attribute this breakage to my lack of experience and trying to blend my edges after the closure lifted. This was also my first closure as well.

For the last 3 months I've been nursing my edges back to health. While I want another weave, i want to make sure I don't lose all my edges in the process.

Here is my self install:

image-1377415824.jpg

While it's not cute, my edges were intact when I took it down. I used HC GWR here too!

I'm considering Indique, Extensions Plus, and possibly Wagman's. I just like the price of Halley's Curls. Does that make me cheap?

bronzebomb that hair looks nice and that was the hair i was looking at from hailey's curl but i hear so much mixed up reviews from bhm. I hear that the closures are some of the best but some people have had balding issues:blush: in the past.
LivingDoll I looked at aliexpress and i started doing the research and got so confused people on bhm had good and bad experiences with and as of late even more problems so be careful if you do order. I don't want to get burned with hair again. I think i might really invest in the extensions plus since i have a long way to go:drunk: and plan to use the hair for more than one install.

I absolutely LOVE Indique hair (the look, never had it before). I also like ONYC hair. I came across another vendor (sisterscouturehair.com)...the hair I saw was nice. There's so much to choose from and so many different reviews, it's a little overwhelming. :yep:

No. You have a right to be frugal. :look:

If that makes you cheap, I guess I'm cheap too.

@cinnespice. Thanks. ITA with Aliexpress being hit or miss. :yep: The thing about them is that alot of the reviewers on YT may say, "This is Queen Hair Products hair", when in fact the vendor used the name in the title but was not associated with Queen Hair Products, you know? So they got some hair from a totally different vendor than they thought they were getting. I have no idea how they let people do that. The vendors look at other vendors positive reviews, and throw that name into their title so that their merchandise comes up when the name is searched. It's crazy. On the flipside of that, people give bad reviews for the crappy hair that they purchased that wasn't even from the vendor that they thought they were buying from. It can reaaaalllly be confusing!

I have a solid vendor though, I'm pretty sure. They get 4.5-5 stars on their hair consistently. :yep:

ETA: I'm going to get some "big girl hair" after my first install. I need to see how it goes first. This thread is really helping me figure things out though. :yep:

bronzebomb no you are not cheap. I don''t like spending a month's worth of rent on hair. But if its quality hair and i can keep re-using it then and its reasonable in price, more power to me.
LivingDoll That is why with at least them i'm going to leave them alone cause it confuses me. Some people bought hair from aliexpress but it wasn't them and they thought it was??? That's crazy. If you have a solid vendor and like them and the hair comes out good let us know. I also heard some vendors start off good but go bad after awhile. I have no clue why. I said if anything i was willing to try the kinkycurlyyaki hair. But i cant deal with the scamming part. And not just the scamming part i need the hair not to look like a birds nest in my head or go poof with humidity/water. At least i know i have been on vacation with wags with no problems i need the same from my future hair.

I have a sorority sister that's goes to Breon (Reniece's sister) and she swears by her.

she has also had the EPRT and said hands down it's the best hair. No tangles, limited shedding. HC may ball up into a rat's nest in the back.

If I decide to go with Extensions Plus, I'm going to have to do a lay-a-way plan (purchase a pack per month.) I like the ONYC as well, I've seen that hair in-person and it mimicks 4A/4B perfectly. maybe I'll do the curly closer to my cruise...meh, I don't know. I want a LV handbag and a MacBook Pro too... I need money tree

@cinnespice...ITA. Aliexpress is a market place. So, it's like going to the market to the cereal section...someone raves about fruit loops...you go looking for fruit loops and see all kinds of boxes labeled "fruit loops" although only one of them is the true brand. All the other boxes contain cereal that look like fruit loops but aren't. You choose the wrong box, you're in trouble. :yep: So, I wish that YT reviewers actually would list the suppliers actual name in their reviews. Out of all 2000 people that have Queen Hair Product (for example) listed in their title, prob only 100 of those are the real vendor. It takes alot of research to figure out what's what.

I'll be happy to let you know how my purchase goes. I wouldn't mind trying the Kinkycurlyyaki either...but they're sold out...so...

I think the thing about the quality going down, is the demand. It is real hair off of someone's head (at least we hope :look:)...so I would speculate that with increased demand comes decreased supply in that particular market...and some of them just become greedy and want to keep more profit thereby spending less on the product.

This is my plan going into the future as well. The only reason I stopped going was due to the $$, I was getting it redone every 7 or 8 weeks (and getting BSS hair each time). When I first started going years ago back then she was doing hair at her mom's house before she was in the first shop. Plus after watching her do my hair so much I learned to do it myself. But my hair never thrived as much as it did when I went to her. Reniece is a professional: on time, no double booking, no eating while doing your hair. I trust that she has trained her junior stylists well; afterall she trained her sister and I didn't have any issues when I went to her either.

RoseGolden

I have ERPT in now and yes like havilland said it does react to humidity like natural hair. It rained the other day and my leave out and EPRT frizzed up the same way. Someone asked me again if it was all my hair (I hate when aquaintances do that). So yeah good stuff.

Buying from unfamiliar hair companies is tricky. I got in on a group order on BHM before after one of my gf's said she always gets her hair from there and that hair sucked! I wasn't out too much money but I was very disappointed. Also sometimes companies have bad batches so you never know. YT has been a big help in picking hair companies. Nothing like a detailed review and seeing the hair in motion.

Yes, I can attest for HC GWR balling up into a rat's nest in the back. :yep:

I don't want to do relaxed textured hair though. I want some hair that I can wet and go (especially since I won't have a leave out to blend). I don't want to be a slave to heat if I can help it. I'll have to look at the EP Zig Zag line again. Do they really have a lay-away plan? Or is that something you're doing on your own?

When you find a money tree...let a sistah know. I need one too.

I may give HCRT one more chance....then I'm going for the good stuff.

I don't know how to order from Wagman's. That website is all over the place.

I'm going to a conference in Philly in April...I'll check out Indique then.
