Braiders, I need help!

Since starting my hj, I've been doing my own braids and twists. I like doing twists with Marley hair because the hair is already separated. I did some singles using reg synthetic hair (the big $3 braid), but I found it hard to get the same amout of hair for each braid (I don't cut it). I've also tried the synthetic hair that you use for micros.

Is there any braid hair that is sold separated like Marley hair? Or can you give me tips on how to get the right amount of hair? Thank you!

I used to place three or four already separated pieces on the side. That way I can always eyeball the next piece for the proper thickness.

In the past, I'd separate the hair beforehand and hang the pieces on a drying rack. Then have the rack near me while I'm braiding.

I do this exactly. The day before braiding I open all the packs and separate them and put on a rack just like that. Keeps things uniform and makes install day go faster.

You dont have to use a drying rack. I've laid them across the arms and backs of chairs and sofas even across the dining room table. Whatever is long enough for them to hang or lay out without getting tangled.

faithVA it might not be you. I find when I do people's hair it's usually the hair they bring. The last one, the girl brought in some really cheap plastic feeling synthetic hair. I spent most my time detangling the ends before install! They'd knot right up right as I divided them. Can't say I've had this problem with human hair whether curly or straight or decent synthetic blends.
