And I'm super Nervous. I have been wearing my hair in Senglense Twist for a month and plan to take them out this weekend. But I want to keep the protective styling going and I'm not ready to start messing in my natural hair just yet. Soooo I got a wig!!! MY first. I got this one:

In a 1b, hopeful that it will turn out like the beautiful lady in this video.

My question is any tips on what to do or not do with my hair underneath the wig?

That's next on my to buy list! I love that look.

What I do with my hair is make sure it's moisturized and sealed first. Then I twist it up and pin with the metal clips.

Like these.

I use these because they lay flat, are more secure, and they don't pull like bobby pins. I add a wig cap (a comfortable one because I don't like the tight ones that pull) and put on my wig. Then it's just a matter of styling it and going on about your business.

Now, some ladies will cornrow... and since I can't, I just use twists. I suggest doing a few practice runs around the house just to become comfortable since you're not used to it. I tried my first wig about 3-4 years ago and I've never looked back! I love the ease of changing my styles without damaging my hair. Don't be nervous! Just take your time to style it and be mindful of your edges. I flat twist mine, especially if it's a full cap. :yep:

Hopefully some of the other ladies here will chime in. :yep:

Beautiful wig. I've got one similar to it from Model Model (I think it's called Eugene) but I've been too scared to wear it out, that's a lotta hair! I'm gonna dig it from out of whatever bag it's been in this weekend.

I love curly wigs. That's the only kind I wear. I think the straight ones look too straight for my face. It looks perfect on you and matches your twist out perfectly! Great job! Rock that wig girl!

Thank you ladies, I will be trying this out on Sunday! So we will see!!! How much growth have any of you ladies experienced by wearing wigs?

And do you wear your wig to workout? That's my major concern I'm at the gym Mon-Fri I do not want to get embarrassed while trying to workout.

I wear a wig to work daily, a short straight one. Can't comment on how much growth I've received due to the wig, I think my hair grows about 1/4th inch per month though. Its a great protective style. I wear twistouts on weekends.
I've never worn my wig to the gym. I just wouldn't. That sounds very uncomfortable to me, but to each her own.

I don't think people get good "growth" wearing wigs but I think that with good practices you can get great retention. I think I posted in my album here so you can see where I started out and where I am now.

I wouldn't wig it at the gym. I'm usually soooo not interested in looking cute when I'm trying to get my fitness on lol. It's usually a t-shirt, sweats or yoga pants, no make up, and a headscarf. lol I ain't playin' :giggle:

This is the wig I wear daily. I did have to cut off some to the length. I've only worn it "out" a few times and it is a big but beautiful wig! In the past month I've mostly worn it in a bun. I flat twist my hair line and then take it down every morning. For the longest time people didn't realize I was wearing a wig. I wear it closer to my hair line then the lady in this video.

Have fun with it, I am.

I think I wanna go ahead and get my first but my boyfriend is absolutely against fake hair and I think I would be too self conscious..but I'm getting bored with my natural hair.

@myronnie I had to cut off some of the length. I put the wig in a bun by fanning the hair out and then twisting and tucking the hair into a bun and then placing an elastic around it. I hope that makes sense.

I also put bobby pins in to keep it closer to my head. If you check you tube there are videos about placing a wig into a bun and at least two of them feature the creta girl or a similar wig. BOth of the videos I saw featured the high bun but I wear it low and it all blends together with out that ugly wiggy hair line in the back.

Ok, I took out my Sengelense twist last night, deep conditioned, and then did small twist all around and flat twist at the front so that I could blend in with the wig. What do you guys think? I cut some of the length and still fell like I need to cut more but I'm scared to mess it up.

The first is my hair after taking out the twist
