Got a "skip weave"

So yeah, my relaxed hair is bsl. Haven't had a weave since 06. I figured since my real hair is pretty long, ima go all out with the weave. My hair is blended with the weave throughout the middle and the perimeter and a section at the top is out.

For anyone wondering, with a skip weave, the perimeter is left out and the hair track is sewn on braids in the following order from the nape to the hairline: natural hair, track, natural hair. Repeat until reaching the top that's left out. It blended perfectly and looks so natural! Hair is Peruvian wavy 20, 22". Only a bundle and a half was used.

I completely forgot about doing weaves like that. I may get one if I decide to relax. Yours came out great!

LOOKS GREAT!
hmm I wonder if I used a curly textured hair and did this and straightened my hair and the weave how it would look.

How many inches is your hair op?
TIA

Yeah I got the wavy Peruvian and it straightened like relaxed hair. How many inches is my hair or the weave? Idk how many inches my hair is lol I wana say maybe 14, 15 inches? I hover around bsl at my longest layer. The weave, I got 22 and 20 inches. Trimmed the hair a little and cut it into a v.

Thank you. I definitely may try this or a regular sew in with the perimeter out using kinky textured hair

That's pretty. How long are you gonna keep it in? What's your plan after you wash it? Are you gonna flat iron your real hair all the time? Kinda want one too now :)

how many tracks did she use?

With most skip weaves she uses only a bundle. On me, she added a half bundle only because the longer the hair is, the thinner the ends are. The ends were looking super thin since the hair is so long so she added more hair, trimmed it and cut it in a v. As far as individual tracks I have five rows. I'm feeling them now and she did such a good job doubling I can't tell how many of those she doubled. I think she might have doubled 3 rows. I don't know much weave terminology lol hope I answered that right

Thanks! I'm gona TRY to keep it in six weeks. In 06 when I got full weaves I couldn't keep those suckers in longer than 3 weeks lol so I'm gona try to stick it out.

She and my sister (my sister gets skip weaves) said I can do everything to this i do to my normal hair. I just have to refrain from tugging at the tracks so it stays longer.

Because so much of my real hair is out, I had her flat iron it rather that keep the natural wavy texture because I didn't want to use a lot of heat trying to blend every day. I normally flat iron My real hair every week so I plan to only flat iron my hair along with the tracks when I wash it. In between washes I plan to keep the hair straight or use a bun or flexi Rods to curl so that I don't have to worry about using additional heat.

Bent. Not Broken.
Looks perfect!

My friend, though she was only SL, used to do that method all the time to add fullness back in the late 80s early 90s... yes, it was the original use of the weave as someone else called it before full head weaves came into fashion.

Very pretty.
How do you avoid damaging your own hair? I tried this method last year and I got myself into trouble as I found it hard to detangle my own hair.

From what I hear it has to do with the quality of hair and how you take care of it. This is my first one so I can't really speak on it for myself yet.
