Rant: Who hates ORS Regular Relaxer Kit?

Ok, so I went out and bought some ORS Regular Relaxer Kit. The stuff didn't even fill half of the jar. I looked at it like, "I don't think this will be enough." I haven't had a relaxer since last December and my hair is thick. So I proceed to split the base in half and the activator because I was trying to section off my hair and do sections of relaxer. It def wasn't enough. So my scalp starts to burn and I start putting the rest of the relaxer in the 1/4 section of my hair and it is underprocessed. And only 1/4 of my head is really straight. I think I needed about 4 boxes if I wanted to do my whole head. Seriously, I am not joking.

Now I had 3c/4a hair in the back and it is about 3aish so this is how I think Curves does their Silkner. I only left the relaxer in for about 2 minutes in the back and that is how it broke down my curl pattern to be loser. So whatever you pattern is just leaving the relaxer in for like 2-3 minutes will make it loser. This is why I think Curves does their conoction in section because if they don't it will get straight.

Now, my dilemma is what to do with underprocessed hair? Ok, and I put braids in my hair so what do you all think of that. I am going to start the Le Kair cholestrol treatments over my braids.

Hmm. I didn't want my hair completely straight after the ORS relaxer, so I guess that's why I liked it. I wanted it as close to straight as possible, even straighter than texlaxed (like 90% straight). But as to your dilemma, you could get a corrective relaxer in like 4-6 weeks. I did that when Revlon underprocessed me and it turned out fine. I waited 4 weeks.

What is a corrective relaxer? I've heard of it but I don't understand how it works.

Are you completely sure it won;t make my hair fall out?

What do you think about putting braids in and doing the deep conditioning Le Kair Chol. treatments?

Thanks so much for helping me.:)

Wow! Well I liked this relaxer but I have thin hair so I had more than enough. Sorry it didn't work out for ya!

did you have enough in the jar as far as base. How far was it filled to?

Well, I'm not the expert. My cousin did it and that's because Revlon didn't really take at all. When she gave me a corrective with Motions (which I wouldn't recommend because it BURNS!), she put the relaxer on my underprocessed hair, straightening the hair as she went, and immediately washed it out when she was done. It took about 15 minutes altogether. That might be too long though. My hair has thick strands although it is thin in density, and it can take a lot when it comes to relaxers. Maybe one of the experts will chime in?

Dang, I thought everyone liked this relaxer. I guess that shows you not everyone likes everything.

This relaxer was a GOD send to me, no burning breakage, just a perfect relaxing experience. sorry you encountered this!

Me too! I loved it! It made me finally want to put up my own picture in my avatar!

BTW chica, make sure an expert does the corrective! My cousin is a licensed stylist. Also, I lightlycoated my previously relaxed hair with vaseline. It's messy, but I believe it was worth it.

No don't get me wrong. The main reason I bought this one is because this is what I use to use prior to my transition. I didn't know that it would be a problem since I had at least 6 inches or more of new growth.

I think it is good for people who are consistent with their touch ups but if you wait too long, like I did you will need more than the amount they supply you with.

Thank you so much. What do you think about the braids though?

Wow,
I'm really sorry to hear this. I relaxed with ORS regular about three weeks ago. I'm a 4b and this relaxer left me underprocessed, BUT my hair has never felt better. While my roots do have their curl, like the previous poster mentioned, they are looser and they detangle like a dream after a wash. Really different from the lifeless bone straight hair that would break if I even looked at it funny.

I can see how the relaxer would not have been enough for you. I have thin hair, and my stylist still had to use the whole thing. So I can't imagine what someone with thick hair would have to go through to make the relaxer last. Sorry, Chica.

Wow! I just tried this relaxer for the first time yesterday and I loved the results. I used the Extra Strength, though, not the regular. After reading your post, I'm glad I got the extra strength. I was using the relaxer to do a touch-up and a corrective to my previously 50-60% lye-relaxed, underprocessed hair. It did a very good job, but I was also surprised at the amount of relaxer in the box. Fortunately, I did not have to correct my entire length of hair or I would have needed two boxes, shoot, maybe three. I also have very thick hair.

One thing I did notice, though, was that I only had to apply about 1/2 the amount of ORS relaxer to each section than I had to use with my previous relaxer (Vitale). So maybe you used more than you needed to which is why you ran out so quickly???

I applied the relaxer to my newgrowth (about 1") in 8 minutes, then smoothed for 10 minutes (5 minutes on the underprocessed hair), for a total of 18 minutes. I'd say my hair is about 90% straight, but I guess time will tell for certain. I didn't burn at all, although I had been scratching all morning and I didn't base my scalp. I could have left it on longer, but I didn't want to take the chance.

Maybe you could try the extra strength and do a corrective - apply only to the underprocessed hair. I think braids and deep conditions in the meanwhile would be a good idea. I know some people wait a long time to do a corrective, but I only wait about two or three weeks.

To be honest, I don't remember, but there was a lil left over in the jar, if that helps.

This is how my hair is. I'm hoping the wash thing will be true for me too. I get breakage afterward, but not nearly as much as with other relaxers.

The strength was ok. I mean, I love the results I got on the right side upper part of my head. It's super straight. But I just had alot, I mean ALOT of new growth.

For instance, I believe you said you had like 1 inch of new growth but I had like 6 or more inches. Basically, my relaxer had grown out. I never had this problem before with ORS but it seems as if either they are skimming on the relaxer or I had to much new growth.

I will continue to use ORS but I will buy like 4 boxes if I have this much newgrowth and wait to next December .

Oh, ok. That's good. I think I am mad at the Relaxer when it was my fault that my hair was so thick. As soon as I opened it up I should of went with my first instinct to go and buy some more.

I used this relaxer and the results were amazing! My hair was soft and silky. I really think that the replenishing pac that came with it made a huge difference. I buy that stuff like crazy now!
