I bought the Maxiglide. My hair is so thick. I ain't even half way finish and I am tired already. How can I get my hair to have some bounce with this maxiglide thing?

Hi Country Gal..., maybe you might want to blow it out first and use a serum that makes the hair soft. I got a nice serum that came with the maxiglide and it makes my hair really soft. Also, part the hair small and clip up the rest so you won't have to hold your hand up too long. If you are tired, give it a break and start again.................

I finally finished but it is not all straight and silky. It is straight but puffy. I want to use some curl wax and curl the hair to make it lay better.

Oh, how I can relate to this....I still want to see the pictures. Anywho, I fully endorse the curl wax (a baby dab at the root).

when that happens to me, I have to use even smaller sections of hair with the maxiglide and a little more serum. It takes me an hour at least using the maxiglide because I have to use very very small sections at a time to get a straight and sleeker look than my average "poof ball/missing hair in spots" look.:perplexed

I agree..the smaller the section the straighter I think you will be able to get it...

I agree with the above ^^^. Smaller sections makes it alot easier to get it straight and less times you have to go over a section.

OT: Did the maxiglide leave that smokey smell in your hair like a hotcomb does? I have a babybliss and it smells so smokey, I hate that smell.

definitely try some kind of wax. i just used the cheapest brand i could find. it worked. be careful not to use too much or your hair will be greasy.

what she said. I use ampro marcel curl wax (it's red).

Oh, and to answer the OT, yeah, my hair smells a bit smoky afterwards. it's not very strong though.

Thank be the Lord (as my son says) that I found this board. I thought I was doing something wrong when I spelled the smokey smell. It is working much better now that I have the curl wax. Thanks to whoever gave it away at a DC meeting. I have Elasta Qp. It does look much better. I will post pictures. I finally watched the Maxiglide DVD which was helpful. I didn't realize I wasn't using the steam feature.

My natural hair and my Maxiglide aren't friends; even my texlaxed portions aren't crazy about it...I have to do 3-4 passes on a really high setting to get it straight, and even then, it's not sleek and bouncy. It's stiff and frizzy, even with no product.

I envy ladies who have success with this iron. :ohwell:

Me too Me too, , and that ampro curl wax is the bomb, I still use that when I go old school some folks who just prefer the hot comb.

I pressed my hair out for a day and I couldn't take that smokey smell. It stanked! I don't think I'll press my hair for a lonnnnnnng time because of that smell. :barf:

Me too Divine. :ohwell: But the CHI ... oh the CHI ... straightens my new growth with no problem. I believe my hair is not only 4b but is also resistant/coarse.

I actually cut all of the relaxer out of a section of my hair last month and tested that section out to see how well it would straighten with the Chi, Sedu, and Maxiglide and the Chi made my natural hair look relaxed. :D
