Ok so now I'm confused.... Because I thought what you just said but then someone says no, off to research or unless you can do both because I can see rinsing it out because once the acv does it thing and balances your ph then it's no need but then keep it in can probably keep it balanced, idk I'm confused

That's how it was explained to me on Hairlista and how ive seen it done when I researched the right way to do it. I'm mobile now, but tomorrow when I'm on pc I'll find you a couple ways to do the ACV rinse '

You don't use it with oils. You put it on and rinse if out. I use 3/4 cup to 2 parts water, pour it over my hair the last rinse and rinse it completely out. It leaves my hair soft everytime and the smell never lingers.

You can use it with essential oils.

I did one yesterday with white vinegar, chamomile & sage tea, and lavander oil. I left it on for like 15 minutes then did a catnip rinse which I left in. Lovely soft hair today!

You can do these thing a multitude of ways and it's what works for your hair because you'll find a number of people getting great results doing it differently.

Also, I have hard water so rinsing out the ACV (or white vinegar) with my shower water is a no because it defeats one of the main purposes.

I rinse it out. I use ACV because I'm too cheap to buy Roux porosity.

I'm not sure why it's such an issue, but it's okay for people to do things different ways without being attacked.

Lilmama1011 I do my rinses at the end of every wash. Nix08 is right. Unless you are using distilled water, you may open up your hair cuticles. Also, my hair does not smell like vinegar. It smells like the essential oils in my rinse when my hair is wet and like conditioner when my hair dries. Applying leave in over hair that was rinsed with an ACV solution last doesn't give a different reaction as was suggested. If anything, hair may respond better. wavezncurlz shared the difference an ACV rinse made to her curls in the pinned thread of daily hairstyles.

But to each his (her) own. *shrug*

What ratio of acv to water do you have in your spray bottle? Do you have oils on it? TIA

Roux porosity isn't nothing to holler about anyways, I can say that it's great slip but after you rinse it out it nothing to be said, I still find my ends dry so fast but i'm almost finished with the bottle so won't be purchasing again

I mostly stepped off from using ACV for the acidic properties. What made me do that was Kimmaytube explaining how too much acidity can compromise the integrity of the hair shaft by creating cracks in it.

I remember how I used too much vinegar once when I was natural, and my hair seized up like you wouldn't believe. I choose to use AVJ as my acidic "rinse" after I wash, DC and add leave-in.

And how often do you do it?

lamaria211 if you want an answer from me pronto, please mention me. I don't always return to threads I've already posted in so if you ask me a question but don't mention me, you may be waiting for a response forever.

I use the recipe at the link below minus the glycerin. Mostly I just eyeball it and because I know too much acidity can damage the keratin in hair, I err on the side of caution by using less ACV than I think I should use: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showpost.php?p=9172010&postcount=28

I had did it two night ago, I had left it on and I must say that my hair was soft and the growth was soft and after I moisturized and seal it looked moisturized all day and instead of moisturizing and sealing twice a day I think I could get away with once now

The rinse is doing wonders, my air dried roller sets are no longer frizzy, thanks! This time I didn't do it this week because I clarified, don't know if that had anything to do with it lol just thought it would clean it too much, but my hair seems to still be less frizzy so I'm wondering would it be ok for me to actually rinse it out and still have frizz free able to keep moisture hair, I think so ....(rubbing hands together)

I made a spray bottle mix using Acv and I love it

I have a spray bottle as well and I first spray all my hair and get it nice and saturated and than I take the rest and pour it on top of the my head because I will be probably be spraying forever

i use a capful to 16 oz of water with about 10-20 drop of peppermint, rosemary. then i may add tea tree (only 5-10 drops. it's potent.)

all are good for scalp stimulation for growth. scalp cleansing. removing fungus and bacteria.

i use acv to clean my scalp and hair especially when in braids under a weave and to close my cuticle for nice smooth ponytails.

When you say "in braids", is that with or without extensions? Do you shampoo wash first or just cowash then acv? When in braids, do you spray dry hair or wet then pour or wet then spray? Sorry for so many questions, but trying to understand.

I've been using Pre-Mixed i.e. Hairveda, Claudie's etc....I'm counting on the fact that they are properly diluted. Each says to Rinse afterwards.

I use the ACV to restrict the Cuticle and return it to the proper PH after "Steaming" since the cuticle is swollen/lifted raised after DC'ing with Heat.

There is no board.
I eyeball mine in 64 oz of water. U don't need alot to make it effective but if you over shoot your hair will tangle.

I prefer white vinegar and rinse it out after using shampoo bars or just to restore the pH when my hair starts acting up during stretches.

@Jobwright, @havilland didn't know you asked her a question because you didn't mention her. All it takes is to type her name and add @ to it. Then she'll get an alert you asked a question.

She did say "braids under a weave" which IMO means her hair is cornrowed and tracks are sewn onto the cornrows. Hopefully now that I've mentioned her, she'll see your other questions and answer you.

sorry.....i know this is real late! but I am just now seeing this. When I wear braids, my hair is always in a beehive braid pattern that is secured with a net and then the extension tracks are sewn onto the net.

i usually wash my hair with diluted shampoo, then rinse with acv and peppermint. not sure what you mean by wet then spray......? i spritz my hair with a moisturizer or peppermint spritz every other day or so....i don't wet my hair in order to do that. i just apply the spritz from the spray bottle of whatever bland i happen to be using.

thanks @Nonie!

The first time I tried an acv rinse I used distilled water and poured on my hair in the shower. It worked great to close the cuticles. My relaxed ends are high porosity and maybe my texturized hair too. It dies really fast, gets wet really fast, takes to color, henna and perm easily. When I got cheap and used tap water, my hair was hard.

Do you think the bad results were from the tap water? Should I try it again? (I am having excessive shedding, tangles and some breakage). I havent done acv since February

mshoneyfly unless you have a filter on your shower, it means you are using water that may be hard. I do think it is using distilled water makes a difference.

Yes. Methinks its better than tap. It's what I use for my spritz. Why are you freaking out? A drop of ACV never hurt anybody. apemay1969

I can't seem to get my hair back to soft yet strong. It's mushy and dry with no coil. I can't describe it. I think this Shea moisture for thin, fine hair has too much protein going on. The castir ool could be too moisturizing. I own no. It doesn't feel or look good and healthy. I look post light socket and i know my coils are 3c-4b. So I'm scared to do anything.

I'm thinking I can't do harm with the acv rinse but who knows. NL to SL is like my senior year in undergrad. The devil attacks. I'm gonna give it a try continuing to use the Shea moisture so I won't throw the stuff totally out before I'm sure.

Thanks for your help. Nonie
