1 YR Personal PROTECTIVE STYLE CHALLENGE

DDTexlaxed

TRANSITION OVER! 11-22-14
I am 2 months post and I am working on doing a one year protective style challenge. Right now, I am able to do mini twists. They're a bit fuzzy, but I believe they will get better. This will help me deal with the cold winter. I won't be doing wash n gos anymore. I do believe this will aid me with growth because my hair thrives with protective styles.:yep:

ive decided to get back to hardcore protective styling. it definitely helped me in the past and of late, i have fallen off and gotten lazy about it. im in mini twists right now and intend to have these in for a while. i probably wont redo these until after the new year.

I am in protective styles 90% of the time because it helps with retention and now because the winter months are approaching. I am bunning and wearing wigs.

I'm a couple inches past shoulder length (stretched hair) I'm working on getting to APL so I'll be sporting buns or wigs for the majority of the year.

i've pretty much doing this. i'm a protective style type of chick anyways. but i went back to doing my minibraids.

i'm doing a couple of personal challenges: mini braids, all natural products, stick to a regimen and internal health. i plan on getting results!

Yep. I'm doing the same thing since my hair is finally long enough to do it without added hair. I plan on getting some awesome retention next year. I'm also going to measure my hair with a measuring tape in Jan. & Dec. to see how much I retain.

I am about 1 inch from claiming APL, with my goal lenght of bls by the end of 2013. I will be PSing for most of next year. Mostly Kinky Twists, and wigs in between.

Horrible. I've been so busy at work (even the weekends) that I haven't had a chance to do anything I planned for my hair. I've just been pinning my ponytail up.

I don't know if I can PS for a whole year, but I am currently in a crotchet braid weave that I like very much. I was 1 month post when I had it done and I love the style. If there are no complications I can see myself using this style option long term. I won't relax when I have it reinstalled so maybe I'll actually get to see what my natural hair looks like after a few more months.

I would love to do this for 8 months. I'll be in weave from January 1st - August 19th.
So far, it's rough because this is my first weave in 6 years and it's pretty itchy.

I've given myself a personal challenge of PS'ing and extremely low/no heat for 2013, I know that will give me better results with retention, thickness and length.

I just completed a personal ps challenge for 2012 and am on my second year. Hopefully I finish this year out better than I did last. :yep:

Been in genie locs for the past week or so, I've gotten so many compliments on them I think I'll keep this style for the rest of the year.

I am doing the same thing, but I'm alternating between mini twists and mini braids. I love protective styles and the length retention I have from wearing them.

I'm getting better at keeping my twists looking good. I am now past the point of doubt. I can definitely do PS for 12 months!

I'm staying away from heat this year so braids in winter, wigs n spring, havana twists n summer, wigs rest of 2013. I'm excited. Its so easy. I think I'm going to keep this up all next year too... maximizing benefits

Well I am at 3 months in my crotchet weave, 3rd installation and 3 months post relaxer. After I do my April installation I'm going to save my shed hairs and send them to Komaza for a hair analysis. That way I can be sure this process is not damaging my hair.

Anybody else got updates?

Is it too late to join?!

I've been in braids since May and I plan to wear them on and off (1-2weeks between installs) until my sisters wedding next May!

I have a TWA now and I'm hoping to retain as much length as possible before then.

I never wear my hair out (on the road....only in the house) and it is usually in cornrows, or small plaits or occasionally a weave. We have well gone 7 months out of the year already and since i need to gain 5-6 inches by Dec 31st 2013 i will be aggressive in PS, applying growth aids and being extra gentle with my hair. Also no more dusting or cutting.

HHG challengers.
