So it's been a couple years since my last update. I tried to keep this thread brief, but, it's not.:look: Sorry

I started my hgj in 2008 at BSL/MBL.

I decided to transition and I transitioned for 4+ years I ended that this year.:look:

The transition wasn't exactly easy especially from 2009-2011. I had a major setback in 2010. :(

(pic from 2011/2012?)

Since mid 2010 I've been cutting my growth back to right below wl almost every 6 months. I know I waited a couple of times though. So it seemed for a while i was staying the same.

But anyway I'm finally natural!!!!!! And yay I'm at tbl! :weird: :reddancer: (Also, I finally don't have hairorexia anymore! I realize that yes my hair is long.)

I wear my hair in some sort of a slightly stretched curly state probably 90-95% of the time. It is prone to tangling, so no wash and gos >( I protective style probably about 90% of the time. Generally a bun or if I'm at home pigtails.

And here is my hair now :)

^ curls + braidout?

braidout on straight hair

Also, thank you all LHFC. I wasn't even sure if I could meet my hair goal when I first started. I didn't know if it was possible. Ya'll have been so supportive, kind, encouraging, patient and all around awesome. Also thanks for the pics to oogle. Ya'll are great :love2: thanks for reading all this too.

leaving this with a throw back pic of my transitioning hair (2009) One of my fave pics ever :)

Regimen is in the next post :)

My regimen is pretty much exactly the same as it was in 2011 (my last update thread)

I'm going to be honest I'm not really the best with keeping this. I try... :perplexedI just find the process a chore.

REGIMEN

WEEKLY:
Prepoo: aloe vera juice + sunflower oil to seal (leave plastic bag on head for 30+min)
Cowash: with Suave almond and shea conditioner (or skip the next step and dc with suave and then cowash)
Deep Condition: aussie moist 3 min miracle (for 30 min under hair dryer)
Moisturize: aloe vera juice + seal with sunflower oil.
Air dry in turbie twist

BIWEEKLY:
Wash: suave curly shampoo and/or suave almond shea shampoo
Protein treatment: Egg/Mayo/A&S conditioner
+ weekly regimen

MONTHLY:
Clarify: Suave's clarifying shampoo scalp *and wash length with suave curly/almond/clarifying (this probably cancels each other out but w/e)

*Moisturize during the week with aloe vera and seal with sunflower oil.
*If I have shea butter I'll seal with shea/sunflower mix.
* I straighten with crisco

2013 SUMMER REGIMEN
cowash: Suave Shea & Almond or Nature's Gate Organics Conditioner Asian Pear And Red Tea

I haven't moisturized with aloe vera juice (or really prepood.) I have sprayed or wet my hair manually with water only and sealed with sunflower oil. So far my hair has loved it too. So very soft. Pray that this keeps working

I think @Nonie talked about this before? (are you still here nonie?)

brg240, your TBL aka booty crack length hair is gorgeous! From now on, I want at minimum an annual hair update. Your hair is too beautiful to only be updating us every other year.

What was the nature of your setback in 2010? What happened? So we can learn from it.

I told you before brg240 that your hair was gorgeous back then, and now it is even more beautiful. You were hiding all that hair all of this time...

Love it!

Congrats!! Your hair is beautiful! Your regimen is similar to mine without the straightening...:grin:so I'm hoping for your same results with the next few years.:yep: It's nice to see someone with tbl hair actually have a regimen and detail it. I get annoyed when people are asked for their regimen and they just say shea butter and oils. lol.

Your hair is amazing!! I've been growing my hair out for almost 2 years. If in another 2 years it's even half as nice as yours I'll be ecstatic.

OP your hair is beautiful! Thanks for posting this, it's extremely encouraging to see a successful long term transitioner with length. You've proven it can be done!

brg240 your hair is beautiful and inspirational. Thanks for sharing your progress as well as your regimen. I find it so selfish and frustrating when others come to post pics of their long hair, but disappear when they are asked for a regimen. Thanks.

Your hair is gorgeous, OP! You make me want to extend my transition one extra year on top of my planned 3 years.
