I'd like to see pics of ends. I think it would be great if we shared pics of our ends so we could see what healthy ends (or damaged ends) look like. Please share. I'll post my pic after I wash my hair.

Oh this is something I'm definitely interested in - I currently have cornrows though... so I'll have to wait till I take them out in a week.

Subscribing.

I dont have splits at all...but they just look jacked up bcuz i havent had a trim since halloween. So i guess they are just uneven but still i dont wish to traumatize anyone on here like that

These are the ends from my right side, which are the worst. When I got highlights last year, these ends were way hyperpigmented. I used to do jazzings all the time, but my hair has suffered. So now when they are exposed they look horrible. All bright and maybe it is just that way with lightened hair. I got my stylist to trim them before to no avail, I wanted to do a search and destroy last nite, but my SO stopped me. He fears the baldy I give him every 2 to 3 years :lol

ah well, it is what it is, I am just letting it happen, no stress here, the end product seems pretty nice after all. past collar bone length in front, full armpit when I comb it all back. :)

My super peeve is when I get a trim and the trim gets everything but the split ends I initially saw. My mantra is wanakee's, "Don't expect not to ever see any hair in your brush. You will always have breakage and shedding. But you should be able to reduce unnecessary breakage"

and ouidad's, " * SPLIT ENDS: Every mane-curly, straight, short, long-is susceptible to split ends. Strands become dry and "empty" from a variety of assaults, including the environment, frequent heat styling, and harsh cleansers. In this condition, the cuticle remains open and feathery. These tiny raised layers are actually split ends, also called flyaways. They are weightless and lift away from the cuticle, creating that halo of frizz. Contrary to popular belief, split ends are found all over the hair and cannot be fixed with cutting. The best treatment for split ends is to feed your hair, just like your skin. A nourished hair shaft will have enough internal weight to keep the cuticle closed so that each curl is smooth. Clearly, trimming split ends is not an option-you might as well shave your head. Since split ends can appear anywhere, frequent deep conditioning is the only way to prevent them. Note: You'll see the most flyaways in the winter, when the hair is prone to extreme dryness. For a quick fix, spray your tresses with a leave-in conditioner to quench their thirst."

Ok these are the ends from my side. My hair is CBL length in the front and the longest layer hits MBl in the back.

They're not split (or even but that's how my hair grows 3 trims already no mas)

My ends are healthy now. I wear protective styles.

What do healthy ends look like? post a pic!

What do damaged ends look like?

broken hairs vs shed hairs is a easier thing to understand without an example of an actual hair (it either doesn't have a white bulb or it does)

I've read sooooo many posts about people complaining about their ends and then saying how "healthy" they are. What does a healthy end look like?:wallbash:

I consider my ends to be healthy because the tip is blunt and not split. Ditto for Pearcey

I don't have any close ups, but my siggy pictures definitely show the difference between damaged ends and healthy ends.

My pic is in my fotki. I took this photo a few minutes ago to show my ends 8 weeks post.

My ends look this way because I need a good conditioner(serious slacker), my hair is dry and everyday my ends are usually in my ponytail holder (recipe for disaster).

I normally relax between 12-14 weeks, however, I will probably relax next week because this has been a rough two months. I will need to trim at least 1/2 inch.

It doesn't look like you need a trim AT ALL... If you think you need a trim then maybe I should go have another look at myself LOL.
