My I Ask a Question About Racism?

Does it seem that it has 'increased' against African Americans (or People of Color) since President Obama has taken office.... twice? Also with all of the pushing for the gay rights movement, there seems to be less tolerance for People of Color and an 'appearance' of increased tolerance for the gay movement.

With all of the 'Black Face' insults occurring, racial profiling, Paula Dean's faux paux? The incidents at Barney's and Macy's profiling AA customers, and having them arrested, not for stealing, but for being Black.

Just when there's an increase in Interracial Marriages and relationships, there seems to be an increase in racist 'attacks' against our race.

I need to make it clear that I know of many, MANY interracial Marriages which are truly non-racist; the love is real. I have MANY friends and loved ones who are White, Middle Eastern, East Indian, Hispanic and the love is real. In my personal life, the love is real between us, there is no color line between us. I have no oughts against ones race...

Yet, outside of these loving interracial relationships, there are others who have a deep set hatred of our culture.

What on earth is going on?

I think some people who are more "passive" racists don't express their racism openly when they see a black person is "staying in their place." When they see a black person taking one of "their" jobs, spending "their" money, or marrying "their" women/men, it gets them riled up and they try to take them and other black people down. Basically, they won't kick you when you're down, but they don't want you standing up.

I believe the racism has always been there. Society however used to be able to better hide their true feelings, especially given the politically correct era of the 90s. A black president simply ignited other people's existing hate.

sounbeweavable and Browndilocks... Thank you.

Both of your responses are on point and you are confirming each other and mine. It's been there all along, that there are still those who are intimidated when we rise above a certain level and what's deep inside of their hearts rises to the surface. :yep:

The Word of God tells us: "From the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks".

Also in Mark 4:22: "For there is nothing hid which shall not be manifested, neither is there anything kept secret but that it should come abroad."

As the two of you have shared above, what's been hidden has come to the surface. It's been there all along.

It could be that with faster accessibility to information, we just know about it more. I believe there has been no increase. It never decreased. Just like there were those for chattel slavery, there were those against it. Just like there are those who aren't racist, there are those who are.

Another aspect is personal awareness. That may be in the form of a struggle, test, etc. it's just a ploy of the enemy. As Paul said - don't act as if some strange thing has happened to you. In other words, the racism you are seeing more of isn't any strange thing. Just more of the same. You are just now in a position, location, etc to see it. There is a purpose for your awareness.

Perhaps a ministry....

Hateful people are going to be hateful (unless, God willing, they see the error of their ways and change their hearts). I think we see more instances of it because it's easier to expose or call people out on social media, the internet, etc. Also, in our PC age, some people may be very prejudiced but don't express it b/c of backlash, but a certain situation might cause them to show their true colors.

Thanks Galadriel... you're absolutely correct. :yep: Social media has taken off by torrential storms and we are seeing more and 'hearing' more of what's out there. The true hearts are being exposed every second of every hour of everyday...via forums, blogs, and of course the MSM.

The good thing about the social media is that I have been blessed by so many good hearts, good friends such as you and many others here at LHCF... :love3: There is no 'prejudice' among us. :nono:

Scriptures teach us that God is the one who shed light on everything and who reveals what is hidden.
If racism is more " revealed" today, it's for a purpose. It's for the conversion of the perpetrators, their victims and the witnesses. When racism shows its ugly head, how do we react ? Do we react in a godly way ? If not, do we repent ? Do we forgive ? Do we pray ? Do we turn to Jesus ?

It's the active sanctification of the Church. The pruning has begun, praise the Lord.

Because of the Love of Jesus, we are not 'doormats', nor animals, nor less than those who come against us. For we are 'above only' and not beneath, we are the 'head and not the tail', we are the Sons and Daughters of God, we are indeed treasured within His heart.

I say this for it is the Truth of God's Word and to uplift those whose hearts have been broken, whose spirits have been unjustly wounded, to let those hurting know that you never have to cast your eyes down in the presence of someone who thinks they are racially superior to you...for they are not.

God is clear in His Word, which says that God is the "Lifter of Your Head". If we can look up to God, how much more we are able to look up into the faces of those who think they are higher, for they are not.

God is the Higher Being, the Most High God He is and shall always be.

Indeed love and pray for those who hurt you. But you are not an animal nor a doormat. They may not like you, but they will respect you, because you respect yourself and most of all you respect the Lord God, who loves you, forever.

In Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen :love3:

I agree 100%. I also noticed a trend where Im working. Many that are passive racist have pictures of biracial kids on their wall...:ohwell: I suspect its like a sheild so they can say see... I have no issues, look i got black in my family.

My former colleague has one pic...and now refers to those kids as her nephews when it was just her friends kids.

Another lady who is the secretary...She her brother is married to a sister and they have a daughter. But if you see the way she behaves you would be shocked.

I personally beleive there is something going on. On my side of the border( Im in Canada) the hostility is increasing due to the Charter of Quebec... Middle eastern/ north africans are the ones being attacked openly and they get folks telling them to go back where their from, etc, etc.

@sounbeweavable and @Browndilocks... Thank you.

 Hi BlackHairDiva.... thank you for sharing.

In regards to the bolded, there is indeed 'something' going on. As ktykaty shared above that God is revealing this for a purpose... I truly believe this.

I am seeing something evolve on my job, it's been there all along.... not from everyone there, for as I shared earlier there are many, many people in my life who truly love me and between us, there is no color. None. The love is real.

Yet, there is one and it's there, a spirit of color divide, no longer able to hide... In Jesus' Name, it shall not prevail. :nono:

Hi Shimmie!!!!!

I agree. I think we should add a prayer tonight concerning this. I've been praying about this topic this week. There are time like I feel there is a group of people who are allowed to be happy and work in a worry free environment while women who look like me dont have the same right and I confided in God. I told God how I hate being, seeing and feeling that way.:yep:

Sidestepping the "lynch mob"
I agree that there isn't an 'increase' of racism but that it's more sensationalized today through media and other outlets/forms and a black president is causing the ugly to rise up out of folks that's been lying dormant for years.. the Shutdown is a prime example of this. They're calling gay the new black, so color is being used as leverage for that agenda as well. :ohwell: Spiritually, more people will be persecuted for Christ's sake, no matter what color they are.. that is where the increase is, IMHO, and has no bearing on race. Just look at what's going on in Nigeria, Iran, Afghanistan and China...

The scriptures talk about the increase in hatred and we are certainly seeing it today. Not only is it hatred against others, I see a lot of internalized hatred of the targets as well.

JB this is also true about the 'targets' whose hearts have been filled with despise and vengence for their 'attackers'.

Imho, it's very understandable because of the offenses but not excusable. Defense mechanism due to history and threat of our existence. Blacks are in every culture...were in every culture worldwide as the first people. Racism is a greater symptom of the final outcome - genocide. They have taken up so much original culture, obliterating truth, no one remembers who was where. Sigh...seems Satan has a niche in some humans - to destroy, to belittle, to cover over the truth about who was where first. Many cultures have suffered from this and I think it just means those cultures are in attrition. Only G-d can save. I hope we don't end up doubting Him...because we might not all make it, like those of WWII.

You're right, JB, 'Only God can Save'. I thank God that we will never doubt Him, not ever. We may stumble, but we will never fall.

God's Promise :Rose:

He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,

2 Corinthians 1:10

God 'hastens' His Word (for us) to perform it. His Word does not return unto Him 'Void'.

This is but only one promise for there are many, many more which God shall bring to pass....for us and all of those who love Him from all races, of all kinds. For in God there is neither Jew nor Greek... just His children, whom He loves ... forevermore.
