I am seriously considering cutting my hair short. I cut the hair in my avi about 4 months ago to about shoulder length. Now I want something different and want to go even shorter.

Anybody have this cut and loving it? I know most of you ladies are about growing long hair but its time for a change for me.

Any tips or suggestions?

I had one last year. It was cute, I got lots of compliments but it was expensive to maintain. I now have a bob that might just get bc'ed in the coming weeks.

I wore a pixie wig to gauge reactions before I cut it.

Hi, I'm currently growing out a pixie cut now. I BC last year and relaxed 6 months later. The pixie has always been my go to style. It is very easy to maintain. However, once you decide that you want to grow your hair longer, it becomes a pain. Right now, I'm growing my hair back to SL (my avatar pic before I did the BC last year) and i'm wearing pixie wigs as my PS.

Keep in mind you'd have to maintain your cut every other week to keep it looking fierce..

Are you relaxed? You'll have to decide how often you'd want to TU the sides and your nape b/c the hair begins to grow out.
Have you ever worn your hair that short before?
Do you want to invest the time/money to see your stylist every 2-3 weeks?
If you decide you don't like the cut and you want to grow your hair long, be prepared and have a lot of patience

In the end, it's just hair. Go for it if you want to!

I had a pixie cut for 10 years before I decided to grow it out. I LOVED it and got tons of compliments with it. I grew it out because I wanted to give up relaxers.

My suggestions is to go to someone whose work you have seen. I stuck with my hair dresser because she could cut like no other. If a girl had a sharp cut, I asked her who cut it and collected the number, lol. I wasn't one of the those people who went to the hairdresser every week because I knew how how to lay my sides and back straight and "bump" the top and bangs. I liked the messy current "Halle B" look. It really wasn't alot of work, IMO. The difference between long hair and pixie cuts is that you are dependent on the stylist for cuts. So going at least once a month is a must. Other than that, it was easy peasy to maintain.

If the cut compliments your face and style you will stand out! So be prepared for looks, compliments and attention, lol.

Thanks for your responses.

xu93texas No, I have never had my hair that short, but I've been wanting to do it for years. I think I have the face to pull it off, but I think I will try a wig first to get a better feel for how it will look on me.

Btw, I'm relaxed.

I currently have a pixie cut and I'm really enjoying it. I love experimenting with different looks and styles. Malinda Williams is my hair inspiration/idol. She even has tutorials on youtube! Right now I'm rocking a messy spiky look a la Halle Berry. I get a lot of complements. I think it complements my face well. It's like all of a sudden some people/men noticed I was pretty. I am working on being self sufficient with my hair, so I don't go to the stylist often. I have learned how to mold my hair and sit under the dryer. It takes no time for me to do my hair now. I style the top and often keep the sides/back flat and maybe bump the first couple of layers. I'm hoping that my styling will get better with time.

gabulldawg, I love Malinda Williams' youtube series on styling a pixie. Has me eyeing the scissors, lol. But seriously, there's a stylist at a local salon who's amazing doing pixie cuts, I told her I would go to her when I decide to cut my hair, and she says she's not cutting my hair, that it would be a shame.

I ended up cutting mine back in August. Best decision ever, so easy to manage and gives me a sophisticated look. Love it.

I was browsing the threads last night and saw that you cut your hair. It's gorgeous!!! I love pixies. Only downfall is growing them out when you get tired of it.

Your hair is so nice, healthy, and thick. I would have to agree with the stylist:)

I am growing mine out.... I went from APL to tapered short cut last year. I have to find some pics on my phone. I have one in my siggy. I found myself using heat too often and having to relax the back like every few wks. It was expensive to maintain.

I actually don't use heat as much as I thought I'd have to. I use it around 2-3 times a week. I have to touch up the back of my hair moreso than the top. I don't have any issues with either since I plan to keep my hair short anyway.
