Sweet Success Challenge Revisited....

Any takers now that the holidays are over? It is your own personal decision to do so. I have been going strong since November and I have not had any sweets... yeah! My clothes are getting looser and I did a relaxer touchup on Saturday and I can see growth. My last relaxer touchup was October 28, and from then til now, I think my hair grew about an 1". I'm documenting everything and the challenge will officially be over on May 1 and at that time I will post before and after pictures.

I'm here! I have been eating WHATEVER including sweets since 11/20/2006, the week of Thanksgiving. 2morrow should be a better day for me to re-start AGAIN.

I am in. I failed the first one the first day. I did great over the holidays, though, but not by design. My usual MO is to eat all the sweets/carbs I want between Thanksgiving and New Years Day, but my appetite for sweets was almost non-existent and I think I have actually lost weight during the holidays for the first time in years instead of gaining five to 10 pounds. I am ready to be off sweets for a good while now. I just do not have an taste for them, which is good. I retained every inch of hair I have grown over the last year, but I would like to see if through a much better diet (as I did eat alot of sweets in 2006) and consistent application of my topical growth potion, I can maybe in some months get more than a half inch. I am very consistent with my supplements so there is no room for improvement there...

I'm glad to know that there are some new ones that have joined in the challenge as well as the ones that started with me on November 1. I'm going to step up my regime these next few months. I was going to get braids, but I decided not to do so because I have been bunning since March '06 and have been getting some tremendous growth. Anyhow, I'm going to start using MTG again twice a week, and exercising more to get blood circulating as well as laying on my slantboard about 20 minutes everyday to get the blood to my scalp. This thread was just a reminder for all of us to keep up the good work, and to offer it to others if they so choose to join this challenge. I will not meet up with you again until May 1st when I will really SHOUT IT OUT for all to come and see pictures of my hair. Be positive, wish for the best, stay true to yourself!

I slipped a little today and ate one quarter of a brownie (literally 4 bites). :(

It can be very tempting, but you did very good if this is the first that you had sweets since the challenge began November 1st. I find myself thinking about all kinds of sweets and can't wait to pig out when this challenge is over. I hope this teaches me not to eliminate sweets from my diet, but to eat them in moderation. I don't want to go overboard again. I must say, since I've given up sweets, I'm addicted to raisin bran cereal, but I'm telling myself this too must go because I'm consuming too much of it. I am losing weight, and my hair is still thriving. I haven't been good about taking pictures, but I will have some to post around the 1st of May when the challenge will be over. Keep up the good work, it will be over soon.

I'm still in. I have cut down my daily sugar consumption over the holidays. I am slowly but surely switching over to juices with lower amounts of sugar and I am staying away from my beloved Sour Patch Kids. That is the hardest thing for me to give up.

I'm not in the challenge, but I have also greatly reduced my sugar intake since the holidays. I found that natural sweeteners, like stevia powder and agave nectar, work great for me! No more pouring sugar in my cereal.:) There are also some surprisingly tasty low-sugar/low-carb treats in the health food stores. And a little bit of dried fruit (especially cherries and Craisins) help to satisy my sweet tooth in a pinch.

Thanks! Yeah, my friend makes brownies (and other lunch items) and I've been avoiding them for weeks. Today she put part of a brownie on my plate and I just gave in and ate four bites. :look:

I'm laughing at the bolded because I am, too! :lachen: Raisin Bran Crunch is da BOMB!!

Glad to hear that you are still hanging in there. We are almost at the half way point (3 months down, and 3 to go). We will make it. It will all be over soon and the end result will be a new you. Wishing you the best.

I have never tried Raisin Bran Crunch. I will pick up some tonight and try it. I'm trying to stop eating this cereal as well starting February 1. I hope I can do it or at least cut back.

I'm still hanging in there. I was hooked on Raisin Bran cereral and I still am, but I have cut back some, but now I'm eating Eggo cinnamon toast cereal, and I know I have to give this up. It is lightly sweetened, but definitely no pies, cookies, ice cream, cakes, candy.... nothing since November. I was so looking forward to eating sweets when this challenge is over, but I'm really not interested in them as much. I will definitely pig out when this challenge is over, but my desire for sweets has diminished alot.
