unclogging the drain

anyone use the zipper? how do you unclog the drain. my sink and shower gets clogged, I'm starting to think its conditioner more than my hair. i have use draino and another brand as well and it seems that its fine for a couple of minutes and then its clogged again. my drains are made just like hers.

my sink is clogged because when i prepoo with a oil or conditioner or rinse my hands off after deep conditioning, i think i just might go back to washing in the kitchen sink again with a hair stopper in four sections

The zipper is very easy to use. It will pull up a lot of hair and other yucky stuff. If you suspect it's oils and stuff, you can try straight apple cider vinegar.

Add baking soda to the ACV. It creates a chemical reaction that eats away at the clog. Do this once a week to maintain a clear drain.

Over the weekend, I used a product fom Home Depot called "Instant Power - Hair and Grease". It worked very well, but you have to be really careful due to the lye content. Normally the vinegar/bs combo works, but it recently stopped. The Instant Power cleaner is under $8 bucks.

We have 3 heads of big hair in my house so I bought drain filters to put in all the showers that catched the hair so it won't clog the drain.

I use to do that back at home with my mom but my bathroom sink and top not mad to have a hair stopper

biancaelyse What shower drain filters did you buy? What about for the sink?

I also pour hot water that I boil on the stove down the drain each time I wash my hair. It's supposed to help move things down the drain. It's worked so far.

White vinegar works well, too. I use it along with baking soda, and I will let the formulation sit for approximately a half hour before flushing the pipe with boiling water. It works like a charm.

This is not the exact one that I bought but it is the closest pic I found online:

I don't wash hair in the sink and use draino for any clogs.

I use white vinegar and I believe it's cheaper, too. But since she said she was using ACV, I suggested the addition of the baking soda.

And, yes, I flush afterwards with boiling water and it does work like a charm.

I bought a hair stopper. And for a while I thought my sink was "not made" for it. But LONG LONG weeks later, I figured out all I had to do was tear a hole at the top of the stopper so the little knob on my drain plug would fit through it.

Doh! Works like a charm now. All that trapped hair is nasty though.

Yes, the two the other ladies mentioned will work. Amazon has a lot of different types and many of them will work with your drain. Your drain style is standard.

PJaye I bought a 1.32 gallon bottle of white vinegar from Costco today for $3.29. How much vinegar and baking soda do you use when you flush your pipe?

I use approximately 1 cup of baking soda and 2 cups of vinegar, and I flush it two large old school collard green pots full of boiling water.
