I am teaching a class on how to hear from God this Saturday and I am trying come up with an activity to present this to young adults. Does anyone have any suggestions?

One activity I've done before is to pair up two people. One person is blindfolded and the other person is the designated talker. Then set up a mini-obstacle course and the person who is blindfolded has to listen for directions from their partner to get through the course. The course doesn't have to be difficult at all.
This teaches the importance of listening to God for direction for our lives. Also, if you really want to make it fun, let 2 or 3 groups go at the same time. It shows how we have to make sure we are listening to the right voice (God) but in this case your specific partner. HTH

May I share a scripture for your 'students' to keep in their hearts. This is where my focus goes when I need to sit still and hear the voice of God. It is so 'key' in learning God's voice.

Thanks pearlygurl!! This is a GREAT idea. The only downfall to this activity is space. I believe I will be placed in one of the small classrooms in my church so not everyone will be able to participate in this if I do this activity.
I really need two activities. One ice breaker and one main.
How does this sound? Shimmie HWAY LiftedUp pearlygurl As the ice breaker, I am thinking about having the participants write down common sayings in the black church that are NOT found in the bible. Hopefully, they will bring some good ones, and then explain the importance of knowing the Word for oneself.
With that I will segue into the main activity and delve into the Word about different people hearing from God.

I will definitely use this scripture. I just have so much that I want to cover and I only have 45 mins. Im so excited and Im trying to focus at the same time.

Right! YAYYY! I hope I dont have nobody's mama upset with me because she been quoting stuff (like Madea) and what she's been quoting is not actual bible verses just sayings. Oh well, she can be mad at God! He wrote it.

Another one that has been pretty successful is a matching game of sorts.
Write down things that go together on a name tag. Everyone that comes in gets the tag with the pre written name and they write their name underneath it.
Then you give everyone 5 minutes to find their "matching pair". You can give a door prize to the first few that find their "mate".

Peanut Butter & Jelly
Noah & Ark
Jonah & Big Fish

As a matter of fact, it's Excellent. It shows the difference between hearing God and hearing human interpretation.

Welllll, you know how the black church can be. There was an abundance of teachers and not enough "students" so my class and another class had to combine and share time.
Shimmie, that is exactly what I had planned to portray with my ice breaker. However, I didnt even have time to do my ice breaker so I will save that one for another time.delitefulmane.... I really like your ice breaker.
Also, instead of teaching young adults, I ended up teaching women as old as my mom. I was like
.However, I believe it worked out for good in the end because they all commented on how much they enjoyed it and one of them brought up the scripture that says "don't shame my youth." (Im not sure where this scripture is so if someone knows please feel free to input.) They also told my aunt and my mom how well of a job I did. Hopefully, they took something from it and instead of just how well I presented it .
