Guys I am really feeling this wig. I braided my hair down and left a tiny bit of leave out. Put some PM super skinny serum, and CD macadamia heat protectant serum and flat iron my LO. It blends well just not the same color lol. Anyway I love this wig. I have yet to try on the longer one. I may play around with it today. With my fine hair I have to leave it alone to retain. I have horrible hand in hair syndrome and the manipulation by staying my hair every other day or twice per week was causing splits.

We are both oddballs. I really don't have the time nor energy to spend an hour or more just on that. I use the 2 comb method once after washing, with a quick finger detangle first, and maybe again midweek. ____________ *.~.*Sent from a distant Galaxy in the Unicorn-verse*.~.*

im lazy and my finger detangling lasts 5 minutes. then i take the comb :-/

im fine but not patient enough to last long on detangling.

Does anyone have any protein recommendations? Something heavier than GPB. I've heard of Aphogee 2 step but wanted to hear about other brands. Has anyone tried a homemade egg treatment?

Thanks...it's a lace front synthetic wig I bought from Friday Night Hair. Yeah I left out the tiniest bit of leave out literally lol. I love it.

I've been experimenting with proteins lately. I love Aphogee, but it's messy, stinky, and time consuming so I figure there has to be something better. Unfortunately, from my understanding, eggs don't do much for the hair because the protein isn't hydrolyzed.

ive been trying to us up my apoghee 2 step. first time i used it my breakage stopped immediately! hair felt soft and strong.
the few times after it did no difference almost...
its ok but id like something less messy andd stinky and stinging on my skin ( itches my skin and give it that stinging feeling lke its gonna tear yout skin).

im looking for another protein treatment but dont know what.

if you can find a small bottle to try first buy that.
you should try and see if your hair likes it

I just determined that my strands were fine. I couldn't figure it out after being told for years how thick my hair was (when relaxed), why it looked like I had so little of it when I straightened my natural hair.

Why my topknots were so small when I was supposed to have all this hair!

I've been waiting for my hair to magically thicken so mini twists/braids didn't look childish!

So now I'm off to read all the posted threads and links, and post my stats when it's a proper time ;)

cravoecanela Aphogee 2 Step is a really strong and hard protein. You may want to go with mid level first to see how your hair responds. I have used Komaza Protein Strengthener (medium/strong), Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor (mild), Silk Dreams Mocha Silk Infusion (mild), Aphogee Green Tea & Keratin Reconstructorizer (medium depending on how much you use). I also just tried the new Shea Moisture Tahitian Noni & Monoi weekly treatment and matching mask. I would say they weekly treatment is medium because keratin is the 2nd ingredient while the mask is probably mild. Another one that people seem to love is Hairveda Methi Sativa. Mind you, the strength notations are on my hair. You have to see what works for you.

PS: PRESENT YOURSELF

hair type: 4a fine

length: brastrap

Goal: tailbone (or whatever gets me APL curly)

natural/relaxed/texlaxed : natural, highlighted

porosity (if you know):

Reggie: pre-oil/detangle, wash with SLS free shampoo once/week, condition with curl junkie repair me, detangle, twist with gel or moisturizer, rock a twist out the rest of the week, pineapple at night; 3-4x per year I'll straighten, trim, and get Aveda highlights

any hair secret/advice you got ?
I have to keep my hair stretched or it's SSK galore! Pre-oil helps drastically with the tangles. And my hair likes protein. I'm bad with deep treatments so the weekly use of a mild protein conditioner works wonders. Other than that, the more I leave it alone, the more it behaves.

i used to overprocess all the time! i dont know what to use on my relaxed hair yet to protect from overprocessing . some use oil, or conditionner or vaseline. ive still got 6 weeks to research.

I pour about 1-2 ounces of oil in the relaxer mix, apply oil to previously relaxed hair in small sections, then protein conditioner (with keratin) on top. I base my entire scalp with vaseline. For my last TU, I put a 1/4 tsp of SAA in the mix and my hair came out underprocessed! Too much protein!

Its been hard to manage with the two textures but I  the nice wavy texture. The only thing that helps me manage is surprisingly; using DCs and LIs with...keratin and of course my henna-hibiscus treatments. They make the hair smooth, moist and tangle free. Too bad I didnt know this earlier.

Hair is in yarn braids now. Ive been spraying a strengthening LI every two days so the cuticle will stay closed. This way I hope I wont have bad tangles when I take them down. Then Im gonna do a corrective

I LOVE this HHJ!!

Hello! My name is girlonfire, and i have fine hair... That took a lot of guts for me to say.
hair type: 3b/c mix with 4a edges and nape
length: my shortest pieces are bsl my longest are wl
Goal: tbl!
natural/relaxed/texlaxed : natural, know no other way of life
porosity (if you know): most likely low
Reggie: honestly idk. The only constant in my reggie is detangling and then chunky twists. I'm woking.on it! I've been cowashing lately.

Edit: i was the detangling my hair today in the strangest thing happened found two hairs with the bulb on them that looks nothing like the rest of my hair they were like 2c or 3a something. and they were baby fine like 80 percent of my hair. the 3b part of my hair however is coarser

I like my hair to feel strong, so if it doesn't feel that way, I need a protein boost.

If your hair liked protein before it prob still does. I think It depends on the type of protein and whether its hydrolyzed or not. You had natural hair for so long, maybe you forgot what your relaxed hair needs.

My hair loves hydrolyzed keratin. It gives me moisture and strength. I have a good LI spray that I like even better than the Aphogee green tea. Its the Palmers olive oil formula strengthening LI. I had bad NG tangles and this stuff melted them on contact. It was amazing!

I have the same issue coolsista-paris! Frustrating!

I'm the same way. I try to avoid manipulating it more than weekly. That's why I was doing twists for a while. When I do buns, I take them down every day to put into two braids on either side of my head at night. That little bit of daily mani feels like too much to me.

As far as protein, it seems like my hair likes to be on the stronger side. IDK.
