The In-Between Stage (Natural Hair) Support Thread

I am aware that there is already another thread on this subject however I'm starting a new one because the old one was invaded by the Crude Username Crusader; they thanked almost every post with some inappropriate and unnecessary usernames.

I was looking so forward to that thread because I too am in the In-between stage right now. You're longer than a TWA but not quite that longer length yet.
Hopefully this thread will serve as a spot where we can post styling tips and pics , easy protective style ideas, length retention suggestions, or any issues that come to mind. I'm mostly eager about styling tips and pics. :yep:

:bump: :bump:

I am in the in between stage. I'm not quite SL. I think it is a tough length for me.

Fro' hawks are a girl's best friend at this stage.

I stayed In a wash and go puff and finger coils! Once I got to 6 inches, I was able to do more. My hair grows in a mullet too.

6 inches would be nice. I can do a puff once a week without losing hair. I love finger coils. I'm a little too lazy to install them regularly though. It takes me about 4 hours :nono:

Hopefully by the end of Spring I will be out of this phase :yep:

Ladies I apologize in advance, I have no idea how to make these pics smaller. I am copying the image link directly.

Would you get braid extensions?

I do them myself every now and then and wear them for 2 to 3 weeks, but they are bad for my crown so I try not to over do them. I am due for another install though in April. I may try yarn twists this time :yep:

I usually struggle with braid patterns when I'm doing flat twist or braid outs; I might give this one a try:

I have been natural for 6 years and I am DEFINITELY in the too long to be cute but not long enough stage :(

I have been wigging it for the past 6 months and it seems to be growing slow as molasses too.

And my thing is that wigging it up for me is thinning my edges. So im really trying to be creative with this legnth hair but sometimes its a bit challenging. :)

^^I know it feels like the options are already limited and then when I start factoring in what I need to do to keep my scalp healthy, my hair moisturized and allow for this and that and my hair laziness, I have shrunken that limited list down to 3 things

I'm definitely in that in between stage. I'm almost shoulder length but my hair is too long to wear out. It looks weird and like shortdub78 it grows in a mullet too. On the plus side, my hair has gotten so thick and now that I've found a pattern that works, flat twist outs are looking pretty good.

I am in the dreaded in-between stage. My bangs are chin length, the sides are neck length, and back is just past my shoulders.

I love the roller sets that I am getting, but I can't wear them out because I look about 20 years older than I am. If my hair were at least APL, the roller sets would fall nicely on my shoulders. :)think: hmmm...perhaps I'm using rollers that are too small...) As it stands, my hair curled stops at my neck. I look like I have a very pretty and shiny hair helmet.

Plus, I also have a naturally growing mullet.

Well since you just described my hair, I got nothing else to add.
Hoping to make APL by September.

This is my hair and thoughts exactly. Can't wait to have long hair

While you all are waiting in anticipation for APL, I'm sitting here anxiously awaiting SL. I'd be content with atleast that right now, lolllll. :) basically I cant wait to get to the point where my hair starts to hang when styled.....when my twist outs will fall down and not project up and out. Yea, I have a long wishlist. :)

I'm glad to have some company here in the middle! :) The last time I was in this phase, I cut my hair out of frustration. Smart, right? This time I'm sticking it out even if I have to hide my hair.

Tried a wash and go this morning. Epic fail, lol. My detangling process is just too time consuming for a quick morning w&g. I guess ill just have to do my mid-week cowashes in the evening. Also, I think my hsair is spoiled. It behaves better when twisted the night before.

I couldn't bring myself to cowash this week. Just felt too tired. I have put my hair into two flat twists in the back. I really think this is going to be a go too style for a while  I really don't feel like doing much with my hair.

I washed my hair on Thursday and blow dried it. Not completely blown out but stretched a little. I haven't done anything to it since. I've been wearing a puff. I like how much fuller it looks. All I've done is add a leave in daily.

Going to see if I can get through this curly stage by perm rodding my twists. Right now they dry out around Wednesday. Going to see if I can rinse them and rejuvenate them. If I can then this style will work for me.
