Help dealing with fine nape hair that SHRINKS more than the rest of my hair!!

Like most curly girls, I have multiple textures on my head. The very back/ nape is the most fine of strands and that area shrinks about 60% when the rest of my hair shrinks like 30-40% when I do a wash n go. I end up with this baby fro underneath that causes the rest of my hair to sit out on top of it. The nape tangles the most as well.

Anybody else have this issue? Help!! I don't want that Sideshow Bob look!! :nono: lol

Can you braid or twist your nape and wash and go the rest of your hair? I think that would allow your hair to hang down and no one would see the braid/twist anyway.

Wash with your nape hair in one big twist. Will stop it shrinking so much when wet and also when drying. Take the twist out when it's near dry/dry.

I have the same issue. My nape is extremely prone to matting/tangling when I wear a wng (which is 98% of the time)

I try to pay special attention to that area. I add extra leave in, extra gel, etc. If I were to braid it, I would probably have to pin it out of the way since my hair is WL, but shrinks up SL

I would braid or flat twist that section and if possible allow it to dry completely then release. This will keep it stretched so it can blend in with the rest of your hair.

You can also try diffusing that section while it's braided or twisted about 80 percent. Then release and blend it with the rest your damp hair. It won't have a chance to shrink as much while you let the rest of your hair dry naturally.

Update? I put that section in 2 two-strand twists and let it dry about 70% under the rest of my hair then released the twists and it helped so much!! Thank you ladies!!!!!! :)
