How long before you big-chopped?

I'm going by length not time. At 28 months post, my natural hair is a few inches past APL but not quite BSL. I'm hoping my natural hair will hit a major length mark every 6 months. So something like this:
BSL by June 2014
MBL by Dec 2014
Waist by June 2015
Hip by Dec 2015
Tailbone by June 2016
If all this doesn't happen by the time line I've given myself, it's fine because the relaxed ends will give me the length I need until I get there...being that I'm sitting at waist now.

I think your plan will work just fine if being natural pretty fast is your main goal and you like dealing with shorter hair. When you factor in shrinkage, it will probably be even shorter :(

I'd much rather keep my length, so no BC in my future. The last 6 inches I have of relaxed ends left don't bother me as long as I keep them strong with protein treatments and smooth with roller sets. We stay cool and see eye to eye :)
I do trim around an inch a year just to help with normal wear and tear.

Wow, I have pretty much the exact same plan! Also at 28 months post, I am full APL and grazing BSL. I also hope to hit those goals on those dates. :)

^^^ I'm 28 months into my translation too. But I'm just transitioning to texlax. My straight ends get on my nerves from time to time so I'm trying to get rid of them all this year. My plan was to trim an inch every 8 weeks, but sometimes I chicken out because I don't want to lose the length.

Are you planning to texlax at home?

I feel like stylists will only relax your hair if it's home straight. Otherwise they get irritated

I plan on cutting when I hit a year in August. My hair is about 65% natural anyway after a run-in with a "natural salon." (Long story)

I would transition longer but the two textures piss me off every single time.

...And guess who can't count? This girl. :look: I'm actually 34 going on 35 months post...not 28 months post.

But in my defense, I was APL at 28 months post, which was also a month before I big chopped.

Yeah that's what made me cut it. And I have to say it's easier to deal with than when my hair was relaxed.

My stylist does my texlax. She's really good about. I just tell her how long to leave it in and she does it.

ezina Girl I laughed too hard off of this!!! lol

Almost 3 years post...wow...you go girl. I'll be there in December. Girl I forget that I'm actually transitioning. Once you get in the groove, things just flow and everything kinda falls in place. I just always refer to it as growing out my natural hair cause that's literally all I'm doing. lol

The first time I transitioned for a year with 6 inches of hair.

The second time, I transitioned for almost 15 months with 7.5 inches.

I transitioned for 12 months.. I had no real definitive goal month, but I have no issues with short hair and I was happy with the 4-5 inches of hair I had after chopping. I am now 4 months post chop and stretched my longest layers are shoulder/collarbone length. Sent from my iPhone using LHCF

I also plan to go by length and not time. 1 year of growth means I've gained six inches so I won't feel comfortable until I've transitioned for at least two years (12 inches of growth). I'm only six months into my transition but I can tell by my shed hairs that I have extreme shrinkage so my goal of 2 years might turn into 3 years

I shaved my hair after 5 months. I tried not to chop and do a long term transition but my hair was so fine that I decided to shave it and see how a fresh head of hair would grow in.

Best,

17 months. I could have made 18 but was. Way too impatient! I was SL at the chop.

26 months post, but I haven't chopped yet. My nape is an inch or two above BSL, the front (my bangs area) are and inch or so past my chin.

I'll finally cut at 30 months in October!

Big chopped after almost 2 years. Took 14 inches off and my hair was left a little past SL straight. I could have gone longer but I was sick of protective styles.

My first transition lasted 13 months and my natural hair was just brushing my shoulders. This transition, I'm aiming to BC around 30-36 months (2.5 to 3 years).
