Do you know many long haired (past BSL) black women?

Eminem, yeah baby!
So my question to all of you ladies is, aside from the hair boards do you know of any black women who have BSL or longer hair, or is it just women who frequent hairs boards such as LHCF?

My classmate in HS had tailbone length hair but aside from her I had never met anyone with long, long hair aside from the hair boards.

I know 1.
Actually, maybe I know more, but i can't tell, because I never see their hair out. In my area, I hardly ever see black women wearing their own hair.

Yes - three friends, my sister (but she rocks a Halle Berry cut now because she hates dealing with her hair) and my niece have all had BSL hair off and on over the years.

I've come to realize that they were using similar practices that I've come to learn about on LHCF without them ever knowing about LHCF - they stretch their relaxers or they're natural, they use low/no heat, they rollerset, they protective style, and/or they wet bun.

If I'd only followed their example years ago I would have grown hair down to my ankles by now.

Me neither. And also why is it that black women always feel the need to hide their hair when it's reached great lengths? Other non black women don't do that...

Yeah it seems like they have good hair care practices without even realising it.

Yep. Some friends (some natural, some relaxed), some family (2 aunts, grandmother when she was willing to keep her hair long) have decent length hair.

My grandmother used to wear her hair about tailbone length until menopause when she almost completely shaved it off. Now she maintains NL to APL. One aunt usually grows it to about MBL then cuts it to SL or so when she wants a bob. The other aunt keeps between APL and grazing MBL because she doesn't like it too long, she just wants a decent ponytail.

I only know two, my teenage neighbor who always wears buns or cornrows (with her own hair). And the other girl is a Pentecostal who is classic length, if not longer.

My sister. But she learned the practices from me, which I learned from LHCF and BHM.

I know a few. I think most black women hide their hair when it becomes long, because it is considered a hassle to take care of. I think otherwise they may cut it off.

What many of us do to get long hair has to be continued to keep it.

It took me 4 years to go from neck to midback length. It took 8 months of throwing the deuces to my regimen to have my hair break its way back to shoulder length.

I'm nearly back to apl now and my hair only comes out to play once or twice a year.

I know about 6. 1 of my cousins, but she's always had long hair. Her hair is indestructible. 1 of my neices, she's natural & has mbl hair & 4 of my girlfriends.

And that's another thing that gets me, the fact that we have to constantly hide and protect our hair in order for it to remain at its healthiest. I just think that it's a shame we have to do that, I mean can you imagine if white or Asian women did that!

The natural trend hit my area around 2009. My two line sisters went natural then and now they're both past BSL. Now we're all natural and two others have hit BSL as well.

There are a few at my church, but I don't know them. Nobody I know personally. Everyone is APL or shorter.

Alot actually. But that number shrinks zero when I exclude at the 3abc mixes. I think that I'm the only one I know in person that has hair that resembles 4 something and has grown it well past bsl.

Sent from my SCH-I535 using LHCF

Thems the breaks. They get to wear their hair down, we get to stay unwrinkled.
