Is $230 not an incredibly stupid amount for brastrap senegalese twists?

It's been a while but I paid $100 for these Senegalese twists. $230 seems like way too much.

that's too expensive in my opinion. I'm glad I taught myself how to do them, thanks to youtube. it might not be as professional looking but I can do it on my own time and they turned out pretty good.

I think I'm going to teach myself too after one braider told me $80-$100 for some single braids, not even minis! Sheeeeeeit.

2 thirty and you gotta buy ur own hair? Damn dat! For 230, you might as well get a weave! Dats a car note! Matta fact, lemme break down what I would do wif 2 hunnit thirty dollas

Buy me two packs of newport one hunnits. Dats bout 12 right there

Rent me a couple of good movies

But my own marley hair or whateva kinda hair you want

Put them in while doing my own hair and watch a good movie.

And I still got ova a hunnit left ova!

Take dat and buy a cute outfit to rock my twist in and show off.

Now, go work it out and send us some pics when you are finished!

*mumbles - wish i would give somebody two hunnit for some twists*

Also, you might wind up spending more than that 230 just to find your edges.

Well clearly I'm doing my side hustle all wrong lol, I only charge $80-$100.....that is when I feel like doing them.

I agree it also depends on your location, people charge what they want when there are limited choices available to clients. I had some chick in Phoenix say she would charge $480 for microbraids! That's when I took my butt to youtube.

$480?? Did that include babysitting, lost wages for keeping the hair appointment, or gas money for transportation to said appointment?

But seriously, I've been watching crochet tutorials for hours now. You telling me I could have auntie/homie/sis slap ten braids in my head and all I gotta do is play with a hook for a few hours and get the same damn results?

Girl, thats what I'm saying! How did I not know about crochet braids all this time? Why have I been suffering under hot wigs when I can crochet wet and wavy in? Why have I spent 8 hours getting individual Senegalese twists when I can buy PRE-TWISTED Senegalese twists and have it crocheted in. Why have i spent 8 hrs getting individual braids and 2 DAYS taking them down when i can get pre-braided hair crocheted in?

A whole new world has been opened to me!! Praise YouTube!

I've never paid more than 100 not including hair. I usually pay 15 for 3 packs of Xpressions so once you include hair and tip I pay 120-130.
Anything more is a rip off. Especially in New York

I think I paid $130 for mine, I bought my own hair too. The woman who did my hair did a great job and was done in right under 4 hours. I was impressed.

It's been a while since I've hair my hair braided, but I wouldn't pay that, plus tip, plus providing my own hair. Especially since YouTube can teach me everything I need to know to install it myself.

I asked her how much armpit length would be. This is all via text btw. She said $160 at first than $180. I told her that her prices seemed kind of high esp. since they didn't include hair and they might scare off potential clients. Then I asked what length I could get for $140. She told me not to tell her how to run her business and that she can't help me and good luck.

I was honestly just trying to be helpful. I can't imagine I'm the first person to think those prices are high.

Whoever said the thing about the car note. That's exactly what I was thinking.

And for the record I can braid my hair. I just prefer not to because of the time involved. I really wasn't expecting to pay more than $130 for these, not necessarily including hair.

You saved yourself cause she sounds really unprofessional and unpleasant.

Yeah I guess...I'm really annoyed because the pics she sent were exactly how I like my braids to look. I just could not get down with these prices. What would $140 get me? Neck length?

naturalmanenyc what brand hair was used for these?

I'm really dissapointed about how this situation turned out. I really was not expecting this. At least I have a few other braiders I can check out. I'm really tired of these ridiculously high prices some of these people charge. Just because I have kinky hair!?! It's not rocket science, you know.

I might just end up doing these myself aftertall. I am behind on my movie watching.

they're charging high prices now because it's summer time and a lot of women don't want to be bothered with their hair in this hot weather and humidity. so they feel they can get that off and hit people upside da head with some ridiculous prices.

She just saved you some money and time. How she gone tell someone not to tell her how to run her business when she don't even know how much she charge..quoting two different prices for the same style you asked for. Dummies...
