Has anyone here transitioned from Relaxer to a BKT?

Has anyone here transitioned from Relaxer to a brazilian keratin treatment?

I got a BKT in May and I am relaxed. I'm thinking about doing the brazilian keratin treatment every 3-4 months and just stopping the relaxer since it is thinning out my hair.

Has anyone done this and if so what were your results? THANKS

Bumping this thread, because I'd like to know as well.

italino Did you end up transitioning with BKT? If so, what was your experience?

@GrowGrl09 Well, I'm going to do my 2nd BKT this Sat. and no relaxer in 5 months. My new growth is no joke compared to the BKT part of my hair. I"ll update in a few months and let you know how it is going. SO far though I"m loving the BKT but this Sat. will be the first time I do it on my virgin no relaxed part of my hair (new growth) so we'll see how well my real hair takes the BKT. The relaxer is slowly starting to thin my hair out as well as age so I just want to do something that is more healthier.

This is a recent pic of my hair with the BKT. Sry for the big pic.

Yes, please update!! Im almost 8 months post relaxer and Im wondering how my unrelaxed hair will react to BKT, too. My texture is more of a 4b/4c, I think. I wanna go natural, but Im afraid of the shrinkage and detangling woes, so I would like to be a perenially stretched natural, if that makes since. LOL

Do you think the BKT has helped you to retain more length? Your hair is gorgeous! Have you had problems with keeping your hair moisturized due to the protein? Also, how often do you flat iron your hair? I, too, am in the line of thought that BKT may be healthier than relaxers and perhaps that lesser of two evils. LOL

Sorry for so many questions and thank you for responding :)

@GrowGrl09 I just got my BKT this morning. Here's how it looks. I had about 3 inches of new growth. :yep: I will update you after I wash it. I'm interested in seeing how my new growth will do with no relaxer and just the BKT.

Italiano I'm natural and due to a bad cut and thinking of getting a BKT. What can you tell me about it? Does it stay on your hair like a relaxer and must be grown out or cut out?

No unlike a relaxer your hair slowly reverts back to its original state. If things go ok I'll get it every 4 months or so.
