My grandmother wants to color the grays in her hair back to her natural black hair color.

What are some of the best products on the market for this, both natural products and non natural products?

I have no experience with coloring hair fyi.

My Natural Solution to dying my Grays is Hendigo = Less Henna more Indigo.

It sufficiently covers my Gray. It can be time consuming and messy but it works like a Charm every single time.

Done personally with Store bought solutions, so this is the only way for me to go.

Is that one product or is it a combo of henna and indigo? How do you use it?

It's two separate items Henna (For African American and Chemically Treated Hair - Body Art Quality) and Indigo.

I purchase both from Mehandi.com (although you can get it other places)

I mixed the Henna allow the dye to release (I use ACV), make up my Henna with Hot Water and then mix a little of the dye released Henna into the Indigo and Stir.

Must use Gloves to Apply.

Apply to freshly cowashed hair. Wrap in Saran Wrap & Plastic Cap leave on for at least 2-3 hours and cowash out. You have to rinse it out a long time.

Hair will be very black.

If you decide to go this route instead of using commercial dyes, check out some of the Henna Threads for more details.

Only "CON" Henna stain is permanent. You will have to grow the Henna out.

Indigo will fade over time and you will have to do this process again.

If she has a lot of grays, I wouldn't go all the way back to black. It often looks too harsh and unnatural. I would instead go for a semi-permanent dark brown hair dye that lets the grays shine through so to speak.

I use henna + indigo like the ladies above here, but I don't think it will look nice when I -have 70-80% gray.

You want to create as little contrast to the new growth as possible...

I think you're right. She's mostly gray.

What product would you recommend FlowerHair?

I use Bigen oriental black from Sally's. It is VERY black and dark. I don't know how black she wants her hair, but Bigen will be very, very dark. I love it and it looks good on me, but not everyone likes jet black hair. She can try Clairol demi-permanent it works well, but it's not black enough for me. I also know quite a few people that use Wella demi-permanent from Sally's.
