Aphogee 2-Step

I had a fear of this treatment. I put it in today and it wasn't so bad. My hair feels great. Less breakage already.... Everything everyone said was true. It stinks, it's sticky, your hair gets brick hard. But I think it was worth it. My hair feels amazing

I used it yesterday after my relaxer 2 weeks ago. It is truly a staple. Did you use the whole system? (shampoo/2 step/balancing moisturizer?)

I like aphogee. I need to remember to do it more often. To the comment above, I've heard that the balancing moisturizer that comes with it is crap. Better off using your own trusted deep conditioner.

I use Hairveda Strinillah. I don't like the conditioner that comes with it. It's thin and not moisturizing at all.

Yes I used the whole system. Today my hair is extra dry though. Not sure if it had anything to do with it. I was scared to mix other conditioners with it.

Do you see less breakage with hairveda?

I see NO breakage. After a two step my hair stops excess shedding and breaking. BUT, you have to use a different conditioner than that cheap mess that comes with it. I used that once and my hair felt like straw after. I had to go back the next day and do a deep treatment with mayonnaise because it was all I had at the time and I was in emergency mode. I didn't want to start seeing breakage. Once I did a deep treatment with the mayo for about 2 hours (no heat, just plastic cap), my hair was like silk.

After that experience I vowed to never use the step two moisture conditioner that comes with it again.

I do step one under a dryer until the protein is hard as a rock. Then rinse. Then add Hairveda Strinillah for At least an hour with a plastic cap. That process works wonders for me.

Summer where are you?
I need to do a hard protein. My hair is shedding too much and black tea rinses aren't helping. I think it's my seasonal change.

Yes...love this stuff! Every time I try & stray, I always come back. I'll be clarifying & doing a treatment before the year is out.

I was scared to use this for years but it's amazing

I bought it for the first time this year my hair had a smoothness about it that I wasn't expecting at all from it

My hair is coarse so I already knew not to **** around with the conditioner I have only used it with my trusted aubrey organics

I fell asleep with that stuff in my hair! It took a year to recover and I have had two major hair cuts and I trim like crazy! It works, but it is nothing to play around with!

When I 2-Step I always use a different DC. Never use their Balancing Moisturizer. I also do an intense M&S each night following the treatment until I wash and DC again. Protein can dry out your hair, but it's long term effects weigh out the temporary dryness you experience right afterwards.

My advice... Once you 2-Step, do an intense moisturizing DC (add oil too), steam or use heat to DC, rinse, use a rinse out condish and then add moisture following the process.

and shampoo afterwards to remove residue. Got that from several stylists. Then moisturize with a good dc with no protein.

I never shampoo after. ??? I've used it for years and I always shampoo before.
most people don't. That method has helped me tremendously when using protein, especially hard. Just like some folks deep condition before they shampoo.

I actually swear by the balancing moisturizer. It's amazing IMO.

For people who do it every six weeks, do you still use light protein conditioners weekly? For example, can the Aphogee 2 minute be used weekly plus the Aphogee 2 step every six weeks?

I do. I do it every six to eight weeks and use ors replenishing as my regular weekly conditioner.
