I NEED my Maxiglide back!

I got my maxiglide like 9-10 years ago and never looked back, it was that good. Well it recently broke and I was shocked to find out they no longer sell the original model. I hear the Sonicglide doesn't work nearly as well.

I'm distraught and I've tried 2 other irons that I don't like. I don't have hard hair to straighten and all I need it for is to straighten my edges and nape after rollersets so why is this so difficult. I don't have patience for all this trying and returning. I don't want to pay a lot for an iron just for my edges either but I want a good one.

Any recommendations?

what about trying the edgestick if you just need to do your edges?

The mini glide? I really considered it but I don't think it has temperature control.

ETA....just looked it up, I've never heard of this. I'm gonna look at reviews.

I watched Ateya use the edgestick and she ran it over the same spot 50-11 times and it looked almost untouched....I frowned lol. She says she loves it though. All my maxiglide took was one quick pass and bone straight *curls up and cries*.

I think there are more that one type. Mine has a control for the level of heat. I turn that sucker up and I'm good with one or two passes.

See with my maxiglide I didn't even have to turn it up high, just level 1.....I'm never gonna get over this lol

Re: I NEED my Maxiglide back!

I wish I had bought someone's original maxiglide when mine broke...I ended up ordering the new maxiglide and it breaks my hair off because they changed the edges on it.

So I never use it. It's just sitting there. The only time I use it is if I have a trouble spot and then I just use it to straighten, I don't bend the iron EVER because that causes breakage.

I loved the original maxiglide.

I use a Croc and a Sedu now as my replacements, but I STILL never got over the straightness provided by my original MG (maxiglide).

I got rid of my maxiglide a couple years ago but I still have the skinny mini glide that came with it. I use it for my edges.

I got my 1st maxglide off ebay and when it broke, I had to fight tooth and nail to get another one from ebay. I must of bid on 6 units before i finally won one. It was THAT serious.

I will never use anything other than my maxiglide. I'd marry that thing if i could :look:

Just giving my 2 cents to support the Sonic Glide. I love it, but don't think it will "Hit" the edges though.

I've had it for about a year, never tried the MaxiGlide though.

Funny, I have my original Maxiglide and miniglide in addition to a Splitender that I rarely use.
I also have the FHI Runway flat iron, a hair steamer and a Pibbs dryer that I don't use much. I've been in Havana twists for about a year with protein treatments in between.

I convinced myself and DH that I really NEEDED all of these things at the time. lol

I did a quick search on eBay and found a bunch of original maxi glides for sale. They were between $79-$125. I used to have one years ago, but I love my CHI and will continue buying their flatirons.

I think that I may have to buy one of those while they're still available seeing that the others don't compare. Thanks for the heads up.
