I got my money's worth after being here for a whole year and seeing results from trying the techniques I learned here.

More to add….

-- When I linked with another member and she helped me to figure out what was going on with my cousin. Priceless as it gave me much needed peace of mind.

---ABU DHABI!!! I can't believe I am going to Abu Dhabi and that it only cost me $250 ROUNDTRIP! LOL. My $6.50 was worth every penny for this alone.

Now…..I agree with the previous poster that some days I felt like I was owed some money back ………..and they all involved Kim K threads!

I can't pinpoint when so I guess I'll just say when I joined. This forum has been extremely helpful in pretty much all areas of my life.

virtuenow….check the Travel Forum on LHCF. A few threads on there talk about the Christmas Day windfall when Ethiad airlines had a price glitch and folks were buying up tickets to Abu Dhabi, Johanessburg, Hong Kong all for way less than $300 RT per ticket.

I was on here when we paid $5 for a membership and SistaSlick something like that was super active. I learned alot from her about balancing moisture and protein.

I learned how to install a weave here and self relax. Within my first month that $5 was used up!

When I learned about other hair products that cost a whole lot less but just as effective if I doctored them up. They are very good substitutes, which are my permanent staples.

I didn't know the difference between moisture and protein balance.

Product reviews steered me away from some items which helped me save more money.

Clarifying products such as baking soda or vinegar.

I got my money's worth before I paid my then, $5.

I agree. I decided to join because I felt like it was highway robbery not to give something back for the amount of information I was getting from this place.

Honestly, I've tried a lot of stuff that did not work for me on here but the stuff that worked REALLY worked for me and made a huge difference. Plus the learning has been invaluable and just seeing a community of people able to help each other is refreshing.

I'll admit that I don't think I would be natural today without this board.

When I first joined and left years ago (2008/2009), I was relaxed. My hair did well and I had a thick, lush head of BSL hair. Then I decided to transition bc I didn't want to be a slave to relaxer chemicals forever. I hated my transition period. My hair was DRY, breaking off like no tomorrow, and hard to style. Hated transitioning.

I think my first post when I re-joined in 2013 was about naturals who permed again bc my transition was a hot MESS! Sistas on here were like.....go ahead and perm. No condemnation. That was fine. Others gave tips along the way that kept me and my hair hanging on. Everything from using heavier sealants for dryness to figuring out which ingredients didn't agree with my hair to recommending natural products that did agree without a bunch of added chemicals. My natural hair is thriving today because of the tips I learned on here. I am very happy.

^^Agreed, I would not be natural if it were not for LHCF. My skin would not be as glowy and healthy as it is today, my teeth would not be in amazing shape, my nails would be jacked, my vajayjay wouldn't be snatched.. Everyone doesn't have older sisters or an older woman in their life to teach them certain things. This board has been a Godsend for me learning certain things when it comes to being a woman, and being a person. It has it's downsides and it's "gang mentality" moments. But if you can sort through all that and get to the gems, it's SO worth it. Plus I've made two AMAZING friends. :hug2:

When i actually saw the improvement in my hair i knew I'd never go back.

When I proved my haters wrong and they started asking me for advice instead.

Following great advice on this forum changed my hair. Since joining a year ago my hair grew 6+ inches. Scissors touched my hair only once in a year, due to well maintanance of healthy hair practices. Everyone I know now call my just past APL hair long lol.
I was hip length as a child, as I got older mom didn't do my hair anymore.
I thank Lhcf for showing me what I been missing. Which is so simple, dc, ps(bunning), keeping a clean moisturized/ sealed scalp. And limiting hair products.

When I first joined and haven't looked back since! I'm always getting great advice and support. I love the ladies here because they understand what we go through in life and not just hair related. Y'all are like my sistas from other mistas! Wouldn't have it any other way.

ETA- I see I've already answered this lol...nothing's changed.

$6.50 is a small price to pay for all this knowledge and interaction! I didn't realize how much LHCF meant to me until my first year subscription was over. I paid that $6.50 without a second thought. Also, the pictures posted by you ladies were extremely invaluable. That's perhaps the #1 reason why I got the paid subscription as I truly did not mind lurking back then.

I joined in 2011 and haven't looked back. I have saved so much money by doing my hair at home instead of giving $50 to my stylist every 2 weeks like I used to do pre-LHCF. ( and my hair/scalp was a mess)

On the flip side, I've become a PJ :)

The first time someone actually referred to me as "That Girl (the exact words were "You make me sick! You're that girl with the perfect hair, skin and body, plus the husband and kids."). I couldn't help but laugh, smile and strike a pose.
I've always been decently put together and in shape. However, my hair, skin, makeup, etc has greatly improved over the past few years since joining LHCF. The information found here is a goldmine!

Skincare...my skin looks best when I follow my regimen. I added anti aging stuff and my skin glow and looks nice. My mom asks me for recommendations ...can you beleive that.

I remember when i lurked. I would by every thing. Those products worked. I am depending on the hair forum to help my hair grow back from chemo. It has been 8 month and no growth yet. My hair was lush and weave checked by my mom..she could not believe that hair was mine.

Fitness tips..yes the money was well spent. I also can.not mention how many times I have laughed until tears have rolled down my face or the numerous times I nearly choked from laughter. I use so many terms irl I get from here.

I have ventured into other forums and I am learning too much. My twin has also joined. She has read so much of the old threads.

The makeup tips I luv those.

Heck I luv the entire forum...you all have give support, info and laughs..a big part of my day...

I don't know when exactly, so I'll just say, as soon as I signed up. I lurked before paying. I had spent my teen years focusing on how to increase growth from the root, and the ironic thing is that I have average to slightly above average growth already. I just wasn't retaining because I have fine strands. I think one of the most important things I learned was that I had to protect my ENDS. :yep:

When I reached APL without having to wear a sew in.

Honestly, immediately. As soon as I learned what "moisturize and seal" meant, it changed my hair.

But then again I lost money when the forum made me a product junkie

I learned a lot apparently, things I take for granted today because I've known them for so long …since I first joined in like 2008 or so.

Someone mentioned Sistaslick. I remember her. I think it was her and maybe two others who explained the reasoning behind moisture/protein balance. Up until I joined, I had NO CLUE that there was as a difference in conditioners. I remember when I moved abroad and right before I left, I bought the BEST conditioner I could think of - Affirm 5 in 1. I used it every week and I used NO other conditioner for 4 months straight. My hair was a mess lol. I laugh now but that was dumb in hindsight. When I joined LHCF, I learned about protein/moisture balance and only then (years later) did I realize my mistake. Now, moisture/protein balance is as second nature to me as brushing my teeth; I just do it without even thinking about it.

Also, one other had dropped KNOWLEDGE about chi silk infusion and touchups. I was relaxed and OMG, that was a game changer for me back then. The person (can't remember her screen name - sistaslick maybe??) was a chemist I think and she dropped scientific details as to why it works. I was so impressed and my hair was too bc I always followed her advice. When people starting put forth the SCIENCE behind good hair care, I was hooked.

I got my money worth once I understood a relaxer, how it works, and to make it work for you, and what the stylist were really doing. Which is nothing special that a person can't do at home. Been here ever since, also this is the only forum where if a product was made, used, or sold by ANYONE this website know about it and have input on it.

As a lurker and before I registered. By the time I became a member the $5 had already proven well worth it.
