how low do you let your products get before repurchasing?

This can be applied to the amount of product in the bottle/jar, or to your overall product stock (i.e. you have 5 bottles of a conditioner, when you get down to two you restock).

How low can you go? :look:

Once I get down to only about 3 or 4 more applications, I will purchase more to keep on standby so that as soon as the container is finished, I can immediately open a new container.

Online products are repurchased when I have 4 uses left in the old bottle (about 2 weeks worth of washes). Local products I pick up when I have 1 or 2 uses left.

Depends on the product for me

I usually by my styler and leave in when there is about 1/4 remaining. A little goes a long way with those products and I usually only have to buy them once every 4 month.

As far as rinse-out conditioner I buy it every time I get through with half of it. The amount I use each wash day varies so I never want to be out of it. My shampoo comes in a little trial size with my conditioner so I buy it whenever I buy my conditioner.

I'm currently using 3 new hair products (Argan Oil, Rosewater and a pre-made clay treatment)so I'm still working out how I much I need per use. Hopefully I can get it to where I only have buy them once every 3 months.

I rotate between a bunch of vendors for each category. Most of the time if something runs out, I have other items I can use in its place until replacements arrive.

Leave in: 2 applications

Deep Conditioner: 1/2-1 jar

Shampoo: run out; all OTG so I can just go grab replacements right away

Other cleansers (clay washes, cleansing cremes): 1/2 bottle/jar

I am extremely lazy about this so I tend to wait until I have 1 more use left or worse, until I run out completely. The only time I stock up is BOGO sales or if somethings on clearance.
I have a lot of substitutes for my staples in my stash, so if I run out on wash day, it's no big deal.I also get most of my stash on the ground

I'm a bulk purchaser - I need to have one in-use and several backups in the kitty at all times. Once my backup storage dwindles down to two, that's my signal that it's time to restock. The only products that don't have backups in storage are non-repurchase items. I do this with most things, from soap and paper towels to light bulbs and nail polish remover.

I've never run out of my staples. All of my products are on the ground. The ones I used to buy online (Oyin handmade) are now available at Target, although I'll probably be going back to online ordering during sales. In my stash I have (all unopened) 6 jars of my staple dc and 6 bottles of my staple leave in because these 2 are always on sale somewhere. The only thing I don't have multiples of are protein treatments (except the Joico because I got about 15 tubes at a really good price) because I rotate them frequently and always looking for something stronger. I have yet to find a definite irreplaceable protein treatment staple.

This reminds me that I need more detangling condish. I don't stockpile this because it's only $1.50 and I like to try new scents often so I never want to get 3 or 4 bottles of something I may get sick of. I haven't found a scent yet that I absolutely can't get enough of.

I'm a weirdo who doesn't like to have multiples of a full product even if it's a staple... Unless it's Shea Moisture Purification Masque! Once something is down to half or a quarter left I'll restock.

I have a hair haul once a year on my birthday. Those are the staples that last all year. Anything else I buy is extra, and I refrain from buying the extras to about 3x per year.

I don't purchase anything until I run out completely. I just ran out of Keracare detangling shampoo. I'm not sure if I should repurchase it or try a new shampoo. Decisions :drunk:

oneastrocurlie how do you use this product? i can't get it to be the holy grail that everyone else is claiming it to be (in terms of its ability to detangle and deep condition).

I use it to detangle pre-wash. I spray my hair all over, not making it soaking wet but damp. Next I apply the masque in sections. I'm pretty heavy handed with it too. Then I detangle.

I've actually never used it as a DC after shampooing.

I am like Pjaye I stock up. However I don't base my repurchase timing on amount left(because I always have plenty). Instead, I base it on good sales. Whenever my favs have 20% or more off that is the pefect time to buy 2 or three more lol. I do that once or twice a year and always have between 2-5 extra favorites of a given product in my cabinet at all times.

Thanks! Next time I'll try using it on damp hair instead of dry hair during the prepoo. I'm gonna forego trying it again as a deep condition. It sucked as a deep condition for me but a lot of people swore that it was deeply moisturizing as a DC.

Bent. Not Broken.
Products I can get locally I let go to the last application. Online products will get to the last 3 or 4 applications (if its a weekly use product like DC) or half empty on a daily like pomade.

I'm bad about this at times. With my shampoo, I will sometimes not repurchase until I'm completely out. This means I'll usually delay washing until I can get to the store. :ohwell:

With my conditioners and stylers, I'll stock up when they're on sale so I may have 1-2 extra bottles/jars around at all times.

And this!:yep:

Which is why I like buying from Multiple vendors.:look:

I always have something that can 'dup' another item if I run out.

LOL IDareT'sHair !

Anyhow, my mind can't compute this question. I have backups of pretty much EVERYTHING that I consider a staple. I just can't fathom almost running out of something. It's making me uncomfortable just thinking about it.

When I start my last container of a "category" I'll either add it to my grocery list or come here to find out what its replacement will be, then add that to my list. Now that I'm Using Up My Stash, I'm buying only when there's not another in my stash already in the category, and then it's at half full.

Did that make sense? :look:
