Is this a moisturizing or protein conditioner?

I just checked out the ingredients on drugstore.com:

Water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Glycine Soja Oil (Soybean), Propylene Glycol, Polyquaternium 37, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, PPG 1 Trideceth 6, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Stearalkonium Chloride, Trimethylsilylamodimethicone, Panthenol, PPG 1-PPG-9 Lauryl Glycol Ether, Lanolin Oil, Cinnamidopropyl Trimonium Chloride, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Acrylamidopropyltrimonium Chloride/Acrylamide Copolymer, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Benzophenone 3, BHA, BHT, Zea Mays Oil (Corn), Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, DMDM Hydantoin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

Since it has Hydrolyzed Collagen and Hydrolyzed Soy Protein it probably has moderate to heavy protein.

It's more protein. This stuff is GREAT on my wet natural hair! It really helps with detangling. I just wish my hair felt softer after it dries.

I just bought this yesterday after doing a henna treatment and I am LOVING THIS STUFF!!!!! My hair is so soft and moist!!! I had been looking for a leave-in conditioner and let me tell you, THIS IS IT!!! My hair is funny about protein, but my hair is loving this stuff!!!

I really like this too. I've been using this as a moisturizer especially on my ends because I like the feel of it better than the breakcure and when I got my relaxer done on Fri. my stylist comment on how good my ends looked. So far the protein is not too much for my fine hair.

Funny I walked around the store for a good half hour holding this debating whether I should buy it or not. I put it back figure I would look and see if anyone else was using it. I might go and pick it up later on today.

i wouldn't classify it as moderate to heavy just because it contains Hydrolyzed Collagen and Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, ingredients are usually listed in order of concentration, the proteins appear as the 17th and 19th ingredients and the majority of the ingredients listed 1st - 16th have mositurizing properties

i would say it's a moisturizer with protein in the ingredients

**disclaimer, i am not an expert, it's just my opinion**

This is a staple for me. I love it.

I'm natural and on my wet hair .... this stuff is heaven.

I massage it into my wet hair and put it into a ponytail...put a stocking cap over the ponytail and then roll it on a big pink sponge roller and sleep... it's the only way I can wear a semi-wash and go.

At first I liked this stuff, then after a few uses...out it went. It was sticky and very coating to my hair.

I really love the smell and thought it would be a great moisturizer since shea butter is the 2nd ingredient... but moist & wet always turns to dry & coated. I've added castor oil and used it as a DC with much better results. On the flip side, it worked WONDERS on my 8-year old daughters 4A texlaxed hair, even in braids.

i'm having the same difficulties with this but keep the jar around in case i find something to mix it with.

i've had much better feeling hair (both the relaxed and natural) with the Grow Strong strengthening treatment (love it) and the Break Cure strengthening treatments.

what's odd is that the ingredients of all of them, including the leave-in are basically the same but the consistencies are a bit different (especially the Grow Strong which is more creamy).

This is definitely a moisterizer, it just has a little protein, but it's a moisterizer. Probably one of the best.

Look at the ingredients, Water is first, it's the master moisterizer,
then
Shea Butter
Soybean oil
Propylene Glycol
Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate,
Glycerin,
Lanolin Oil
those are 7 moisterizers.

The ingredients for the rinse out are different from the leave-in. Do you know if these are moisturizing too?

Water (Aqua), Stearyl Alcohol, Cyclomethicone, Cetyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Dimethicone, Glycol Distearate, Panthenol, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, Lactic Acid, Disodium EDTA, BHA, BHT, Zea Mays Oil (Corn), Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Yellow 6 (CI 15985), Fragrance (Parfum)

I absolutely love this leave in. It only leaves my hair feeling coated when I use to much but I have natural hair and my hair may be able to deal with a slightly heavy product. Cantu is truly my wonder product. I use it for mositure and as a styling aid.

This con should be pretty moisturizing. It's got lots of cones in it, so you should have no problem with slip and detangling. Be ware of build-up though and counter it with a good clarifying regimen. I've been wanting to try the poo and rinse out conditioner in this line too, so let me know what you think. All their products have wonderul ingredients.:)

I just started using it this weekend and I am in LOVE eith this stuff. This is the only product that I doesn't make my hair feel hard after it air dries. I used to use Africa's Best Hair Mayo - but that's best used on my already dried hair. When I air dry with this stuff, it makes my hair so hard that i feel like rewashing it.

Thank you HERicane. I haven't tried the poo but I love the conditioner. It really does give my hair great slip. I've been using it for a while, but I just wasn't sure if there was any protein in it. Even though I'm relaxed, my hair really doesn't need protein as much as it needs moisture. At least now I know I can continue using it w/o fear of protein overload.:)

Wal-Mart had this stuff on clearance for 2.00 last week. I bought 8 of them LOL. I like how it moisturizes my hair and it smells really good as well.

So right, Turnergirl...I bought the Shea Butter Daily today. I LOVE this stuff!!!! I put a little on the left side of my hair then realized I put too much:confused: . My hand came away really greasy...so I boar brushed gently and I am so happy. The waves of my Mild lye relaxer hair are nice, glossy and feel as smooooooth as silk. I'll use my Nexxus and Salerm leave ins, eliminate the Amla Lite for a few days and use the Cantu Shea Daily instead {in the bottle} for a few days to see how my hair reacts. So far...this inexpensive stuff is...shall I dare use the expression? Yes, I will...DA BOMB!!!!!!!!
