On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), what score would you give your hair based on health? What do you have to do to improve your hair's health?

I've been re-evaluating my hair practices and realized my hair has room for improvement. I'd say I'm at 7. After I incorporate more protein and trim off 2 inches I should be at 9 :yep:

I'm at a 5. You know that picture with the 16 different types of split ends? At least ten of them are in my head right now. As soon as I get a haircut I'll re-assess, but I'm pretty sure that cutting will take care of most of my problems.

I was at a 5 in September. Moisture and a trim helped improve my hair by November.

Between a 5 - 6. I'm in need of a good trim (my right side is shorter than my left) I also need to work on two patches right at my hair line.

I'm finally at an 8. I think in order to improve it, I will need to do a keratin protein treatment once a month or every other month and to continue to do multiple water rinses during the week. The more water my scalp gets, the better my hair does. I also need to cut splits when I find them to prevent them from taking other hairs along with them. And stay away from risky styles until my hair is ready to handle them.

I haven't been at an 8 in a while so I'm going to enjoy it. Hopefully it will last :yep:

I was a 10 a couple years ago, but then I overlapped my color and I am an 8 until I can trim the last 2 inches. In the meantime I will be doing a protein dc once a week.

A 5 1/2! I'm working on my trouble spot and in the beginning stages of transitioning. I would like to be an 8 in 5 months!

A 7 and I know it could be much better after my cut. I would say my hair did improve a lot during my 4 week weave break. My hair stopped shedding /breaking as much and my hair definitely thicken up plus my natural hair color appeared to be darker and more vibrant.

I'd say an 8, newly natural with minimum breakage & shedding.. could be better if I had the (close to) perfect products.

I would say a 6. The highest my hair has been is an 8 and during that time my diet and exercise was impeccable. I need to improve in thickness and length.

9.5.....could be a 10 if I trimmed off my color but nah it makes my hair pop and it adds to my personality.

I take really good care of my hair from the inside out. I eat well, exercise, drink insane amounts of water, pamper my hair on wash day with steam treatments & deep conditioners with ingredients my hair adores, clarify & protein treat on a regular, limited trims and direct heat usage. On top of all that.... I.LOVE.MY.HAIR! I've always liked it in the past, but now I seriously love it. The thickness, the volume, the frizz, the length...and I only touch it or wash it when I have positive energy to pass to it. Corny but it's my truth.

I wish I knew... :dazed:

Why the confusion? Was it healthy and then you had a setback?

3. My hair is doing bad at the moment.

Oh no! Stay encouraged though- it's a hair journey for a reason. Why is it doing badly?

6.2 - need to do some more protein treatments.

That's a very precise answer  It seems a lot of us could use more protein and/ or a trim.

This is a very well rounded hair regimen (from the inside out). I'm dusting off the steamer this weekend since I haven't used it in almost a year

I said a 7. It's growing but not like it should, not like I know it can. My water consumption is terrible. I do good for a few days then fall off. My diet sucks. I work 3 days a week and have classes the other 4 so my time for hair and proper nutrition is limited. I've been wigging it for about a month, moisturizing every few days. I don't have time for exercise. Well I could make time if I cut into my sleep but nursing school barely let's me sleep as it is so that's a no.

I need a serious protein treatment which I'll do Wednesday since Empire is over. I will say that my hair is soft and properly moisturized. I'll keep wigging it for the rest of the year. Hoping to be at least at a 9 by the end of the year.

I said a 9. My hair is the healthiest it's ever been. I need about a 1 inch trim and I need to eat better and drink more water. But taking care of my hair from the outside I've seen amazing results and I'm so happy. I love my hair!

I voted "5". I can be very wishy washy when it comes to sticking to a hair routine. I don't protective style as much as I should and my work routine has also impacted my willingness to take better care of my hair.

I have been natural since 2007. You think I would have figured it out by now.

"5".

I think I'm just too new at this - I'm still really confused. I'm not sure I can really tell the difference between shiny and oily. My hair seems to shed like there's an evacuation order on my scalp, but it doesn't seem to be getting thinner. It doesn't react very enthusiastically to any products, but has been growing more. My individual ends don't seem split and I don't notice breakage, but I have different length hairs all over my head. If only hair could talk...

I don't know. Overall its growing but my edges hate me. And its thinning in the back. Gonna protective style it soon hopefully. Family seems to think it could be health related due to my previous issues with health but I doubt a Dr will take notice unless I'm getting bald patches.

Recently I've stopped trying to treat it though. Nothing is helping. I'm this close to cutting it off and starting again.

9 or 10 maybe. Ends are thick, no short pieces at the nape or crown, which were my problem areas as a relaxed-head. Length wise it's where I hoped it would be at almost 36 months post relaxer. It can be very frizzy and poofy but I love it as is.. have zero desire to wear it straight, or color it thanks to it keeping the grays at bay  so far so good!

I voted six. Last time I took my hair out of my Crochet braids I did a henna gloss with lots of conditioner and pack of coconut protein condish because I figured I could do it all in one session. Detangling after I took my curlformers out was horrendous. When detangling becomes a problem for me I know my hair has too much protein. But I thought the mushy feel was from too much moisture. I plan on taking these crochets out sooner then the last to prevent this next time.

I would rate my hair around an 8 right now. I do have some split ends here and there and a little breakage but overall I think I am in good condition and making progress! :yep:

On a happy hair journey
My hair is a 6 right now. My hair is shedding a lot and my edges and the back of my hair has thinned out. A lot of it is out of my control like my hairs growth rate slowing down to nill.
I have been using sulfur and have started to see like hairs come in. I texlaxed my hair and besides not preparing my scalp for the process my hair is in better shape because there is less wear and tear when I detangle it.
So there is still work that needs to be done like I need a hair cut since my hair is so uneven but I'm waiting for my hair to reach SL.

I'd say an 8. I've learned what ingredients work and have my regimen pretty set. I'm still battling ssk though and want to see if I can increase my growth.

I'd say I'm at an 8.

To get my natural to a 10 I need only stay on course and not follow any other regimen since mine works for me. I will, however, incorporate Jamaican Black Castor Oil pre-poos in an attempt to stimulate growth.

Regimen: "Anthony Dickey"
Clarify: Cush Cosmetics Mango Shampoo Bar; 'Sodium' Bentonite Clay w/ACV
Conditioner: Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture
Styler: Watered-down conditioner (above); and sometimes followed by DIY flax seed gel
Protein Treatment: Nexxus Polymedic Emergency Reconstructor (every other weekend)

Before I started protective styling in November, my hair was at a 1. Severe breakage in the back, over processed and thin ends. When I took my braids out in January, my hair had grown out and thickened up..so I would say it was a 3. When I take these braids out this weekend, hopefully I'll be at a 5. It's going to take about another year of hard core maintenance to get it to a 10

I'm natural and I rated my hair a 4. Because of the TLC I've been giving my hair, I'm beginning to see short hairs popping up all over my scalp, on the sides and back. I think after years of relaxing, some hairs got stunted and refused and could not grow to it's potential. It wasn't until I started steaming weekly that I'm seeing hair grow where it was nonexistent years ago. The extreme front of my hair is thin but it's growing but very slowly. My edges also look like it's growing, even so much slower. I'll give myself another year or two, God willing, to give myself a higher number. The only positive thing I can say is that I consistently condition and moisturized my hair so it cannot get any worst than it is today.:afro:

It wouldn't hurt to discuss you hair issues with your doctor and ask for a quick examination of your hair or scalp. If the problem isn't symptomatic of a larger health issue they may recommend following up with a specialist who can assist.

You're on an upswing! Congrats! You'll be 10 before you know it. :yep:
