Anyone try this Flaxseed Recipe

I was doing a search and came across this woman who made a Flaxseed Custard. Since Eco styler, Flaxseed Gel (alone) and KCCC didn't give her the results she wanted. Has anyone tried her recipe?

There are more pictures and information in the link below.

Ingredients:
Water
Flax seeds
Aloe Vera Gel, more moisture, makes the gel thicker.
Honey or Agave Nectar, firmer hold, and immaculate shine.
Extra Virgin Olive oil (or oil of your choice)
Marshmallow Root Extract (optional), this makes it more slippery and smoothing
Coconut Oil (or oil of your choice)
Shea Butter (or butter of choice)

First make the flax seed gel
The known recipe is 1/4 cup of flax seeds to 2 cups of water...
I like my gel more "muscousy" so I do 1/4 flax seeds to 1 cup of water

I let it boil a little over 5 mins to get a thicker mucous as well

I boil and strain the flaxseeds twice

After straining, let it cool down for a bit, then add...
1 tablespoon of Aloe Vera Gel
1 tablespoon of Honey
1 tablespoon of EVOO
2 squirts of Marshmallow Root extract

Whip together...

Now melt 1/2 or 1 tablespoon of shea butter with 1tablespoon of coconut oil together...
While the oil is liquid, pour it into the gel, and mix them together. I prefer to use an electric hand mixer...

My ratio is 2 tablespoons of Shea, and coconut oil (all of what you melted) into 4 tablespoons of flaxseed gel...You can play around with the ratio to see what suits you best...but generally you want less butter than gel...

While mixing you will see it turn into an off white gummy cream

Let it cool to thicken...

Tip: if your mix happens to get gritty, don't fret, it's just from the coconut oil that may have been heated and cooled too many times...Just let your custard sit on the double boiler (not directly, well triple boiler) until the coconut oil melts, then whip it again.... Apply gel to wet dampish hair...Dont be afraid to be generous with it!

I just tried the flaxseed gel and it did not work out for me. I had so much trouble just straining it but this looks really good.

She's a member here. Amoreofcurls (I think that's her name). I haven't tried this recipe but I follow her Fotki and saw the recipe posted there.

I had trouble straining too at first. I went to the dollar store to purchase some knee highs and make the gel in a small ish sauce pan, one where the opening of the knee highs can fit around it and Voila. It worked like a charm. I Gel comes out and seeds stay in stocking. Im pretty much a pro now that I barely wait for it to cool and i keep most of my seeds for reuse.

I love my flaxseed gel for everything and it has perfected my "wash and gos" which aren't really wash gos since I left the gel and hair dry overnight...but it looks it.

I also soak for about an hour in the water prior to cooking for greater yield.

Im going to try this recipe when i get a chance this week.

Google no-fail flax seed gel if you're having trouble with the recipe.

I've tried just flax seed gel and Shea butter and liked it, it's more of a thick pudding probably like Miss Jessies. I think I like hard hold gel + Shea butter better for styling my hair.

I tried the stocking method too but wasted a lot of leftover gel. I'll try again with a small strainer I have while its still hot. Thanks for the tips.

I tried making the gel last night and used it this morning for the first time. It was great! left my hair moist, silky and soft, not like commercial gels which leave my hair crunchy, I was pleasantly surprised! It has many great properties;

Benefits:
-Leaves hair soft, shiny, and moisturized
-Promotes hair growth
-You can reuse the flax seeds
-Cost effective (more for your money)
-Nourishing for the hair rich in omega 3
-Gives great curl definition
-Gives hold with no crunch/non flaking/not drying to the hair/doesn’t cause breakage/or shedding
-Fast drying
-Great for wash n go’s/sleek styles/twists and twist outs and sets the twists once dry for a lovely twist out
-Mixes well with oils/conditioners/ many products
-All natural..organic.
-A lot of reviews compare it to Kinky Curly’s Knot Today, but say Flax seed Gel is actually better
-Great for all hair types

My Ethiopian friends use the boiled water as a washout conditioner and claim that it's great for conditioning and hairgrowth. This is the reason FSG peaked my interest. I will eventually try the FSG Custard, but on its own its own its awesome!

I think I might try this. Even though I love me some flaxseed gel, I hate how slippery it is and it gets everywhere.
