Toyokalon vs Kanekalon: Is there a difference???

Just wondering....is there a difference between Kanekalon and Toyokalon besides the name of the fiber? If I asked this q before, I forgot....thanks!!! ANy yeah, I am still trying to find wavy 613 and 144 kanekalon hair....but maybe they have it in Toyokalon?

I want to get braids....intend to wash them...keep them in for 2 months......want to have them partially braided at the top and then loose from about the neck to however long I get them (down back)....thanks....

From stuff I've read before, a lot of people here do not like Toyokalon at all. Most prefer the Kanekalon.

I've heard the same thing about Toyokalon that it is not that great. I have used Toyokalon hair before in the past and based on the responses from some people here that also used it, i decided to steer clear of it, until one day while browsing in an african-owned bss, i ran across synthetic hair called "aunty lizzie". I remember this brand because of another member here and at another hair forum that said she could get this kind of hair in her country. Well anyway, once i inquired from the owner what kind of hair, she told me it was Toyokalon. I was a bit skeptic, but i purchased it anyway because it felt so good. Well my hair has been braided for about 2 weeks, and i wash it twice a week, and let me tell you it is fabulous! I want to braid each and everytime using this brand of hair. It is very soft, and my braids seem to hold together better without frizz. I do my own braids, and i can definitely see a difference with this hair. I don't know how different it is from other Toyokalon brands, but this is definitely a winner for me. I purchased two packs (it has one 18" and 24" in each pack) and i did not use it all.

Okay then...no toyokalon for me!

I think it depends on the texture of the hair. For example, I have the Toyokalon hair by Angels Hair, one in wavy and one in straight. The straight one tangles like heck, but the wavy one has the feel of human human hair (and even the smell), and very easy to get my fingers through.

Bumping for your experience in the year 2015. I'm getting ghana braids with senegalese/havana twists. It was suggested by the stylist that I get toyokalon because it is the right length and she won't have to cut it. What do you all think?!

My experience with Toyokalon has been that it feels a little more "plastic-y" than Kanekalon. I've only used it a couple of times but it didn't perform so great when sealing with hot water as Kanekalon does, was too shiny for my liking and generally didn't last as long. I've only used it for braids so far.

But the general consensus is that Kanekalon is better quality and more versatile.

Toyokalon is lighter and fluffier than Kanekalon. Fingercomber hair (Havana twists) is made of Toyokalon.
It takes 3 bags of Fingercomber to complete my Havana twists but it takes 5-6 bags of Kanekalon hair.
Kanekalon looks more "real" than Toyokalon.
