Where Is Everyone?

I logged in lady year to see what was up and it felt like there weren't that meant participants and like they were trying to copy this hair board with challenges and such.

I remember back in the day they just had hair talk. Not much about growing it long. That was one of the things that I really liked about this forum: people had proof that their methods worked!

I remember the day when skipping LHCF was like a sin (for me). Now, not so much. I go days without logging on. I'm a tech savvy person and like to think I can adapt to just about any interface and situation but I'm totally not liking the new look and feel from a mobile perspective. I have no desire to surf the website from my phone. Just too clunky in my opinion. I log on from my desktop when I have a moment which isn't often. I would always catch LHCF on the go from my phone which was super convenient. Since that's not longer an option, I'm not logged on much.

A TON of people are having a hard time getting access to the site after their subscription expires. They will pay the fee and their account won't be upgraded which makes them viewers of the site and unable to contribute. This happened to me (after a month of sending disputes via PayPal and emails to the admin). I also know of about 20 other of my friends on this site experiencing the same thing. I'm sure it's affected a lot.

I disputed the charge with my bank and now paypal is no longer accepting my payment. If I dont pay LHCF membership fee I wont have access after Monday. Did you have issues with paypal processing your membership fee? And if so, what did you do to resolve it?

I also think that most of the new threads questions can be found in the archives. Many of us have our have a hair routine already... but I still come here to find info...

Funny I haven't logged in for a good minute and I see this thread. I stopped coming because I had a set back. It hurt coming here and seeing everyone else's progress. I will continue to stay away until I get my hair in order but I'll be back to regular posting in 2016.

I did until a few days ago. I wrote to [email protected] in addition to opening a ticket here. It took a couple of tries but Beverly contacted me herself and was very responsive once we connected. The problem was resolved pretty quickly after that. From what I gathered it has been one of those "everything that can go wrong did go wrong" situations. Don't give up yet, try writing to the gmail account if you haven't already.

Simplicity & Peacefulness
The is no new or useful information other than product reviews and sale notices. the best information for retention techniques are in the archives. It was more variety then. The curly girl routine took over and turned everyone into ingredient, heat and regimen nazis. Back then there was info for everyone. It didn't matter if you used heat, relaxed, used silicone or mineral oil. You could wash daily or twice a month. There was support for everyone. The method really didn't matter as long as it produced results. Now everyone is about the wash and go or extended protective styling. There is no in between.
I agree. I'm now in between, and I can't seem to find similar ladies who are talking/concerned about the same things. I'm natural BSL and while more length is still a goal, it's not the main goal. The main goal is styling and enjoying all this hair. What I'm looking for isn't exactly concrete, but I would love to find a board/blog/group of ladies who have blowdry regimens. I've found a few ladies on YT, but I wanted more of a conversation, Q&A, experiments about it - like what this board has offered for other topics in the distant past.

I'm looking for ladies who start all their styles on blowdried hair (or simulated blowdry by flat ironing their hair with one pass on low heat) specifically because it offers a different kind of challenge (keeping it moisturized, types of blowdryers, best products for blowdrying, best products for holding a style, variety of styling options, growing and retaining - all for blowdry ladies, not for flat iron (straight) ladies, not for ladies who airdry to stretch.)

I guess I could start a thread for it, I just don't think I'd get much participation because it's kind of a specific regimen I guess.

With the app being gone and the forum down for such a long time, my interest waned. I got tired of looking for updates and got busy with ordinary life stuff.

I'm back b/c I have challenges and goals I forgot about lol.

I think maybe because there is a very active natural hair group on FBook. A lot of members have gone natural and because the "movement" is still in high gear maybe people have found other support systems, friends and forums to share info.

I have just been super busy. weddings, funerals, moving, promotions, frequent cross country travel ect this year. Usually, I forget all about logging on when I'm at the end of my day, but thank goodness things are slowing down and I hope to have more free time on my hands in the last few months of this year. I still love the forum though just been busy.

Start a thread. Im in. Im always looking for products that moisturize but don't weigh down hair when blowdrying. I havent found my holy grail product.

I rarely log on anymore because I don't like browsing the site on my phone and other than at work I rarely go on a computer. When we had the app we would get notifications when someone posted on a thread we were subscribed to, and I would have to read it immediately, now... I am not even sure what is on here. I am certainly not going to take time to look through pages of threads just to find something to interest me. Additionally, I can't seem to search for the old threads.

I still love the Forum and love talking Hair. I still enjoy it.

Hopefully, this is just "ebbs & flows" of folks being busy and because it is Summer.

I'd like to ask the members from 07 and lower if they've seen a lull like this?

Perhaps it will pick up Fall/Winter? I think things will pick up once folks are kinda 'stuck inside' and not outside as much enjoying the weather, traveling, etc.....Summer is leisurely, even at the Gyms.

However, I'd like to see folks start more interesting and thought provoking "Threads" (like this one) lol.

The Thread topics of times past are what drew me to the Forum in the first place back in 2009.

And we have some very smart, talented, scientific women still on the Forum, I wish folks would just post more interesting/entertaining threads related to healthy hair care etc....

Just my two cents.

From my perspective, the forum is much less active than when I first joined. I remember it used to be that if I left and came back a few hours later, there would be 5-6 pages of threads with new posts. But in the last year or so, it seems like if you go back 1-2 pages you already hit the previous days posts.

Also, like others said, I've been on my hair journey so long that I don't have many questions anymore. I'm on autopilot with my hair. Personally, I've always enjoyed answering questions from newbies, b/c I remember how much help I got when I started out. But most threads now seem really specific in the discussion or expressly target a certain slice of the hair community. So I don't post much b/c I don't know that I have much to add. It seems the forum has long since moved on from basics. Or maybe people just starting out nowadays prefer to jump on youtube and find a quick 5 minute video on creating a routine, rather than read through posts.

I joined back when YouTube was not popular yet. This forum was the only way for me to get information on products, style tips, hair regiments etc.

Now I like YouTube. Instead of stalking fotkis I can subscribe to a persons channel. I am just a visual learner so I can learn better watching a video vs reading a post on how to.

Same here. I used to be big on recording/tracking my hair progress on my fotki (and checking other people's photos), but I kinda let that fall off awhile ago. I reached my ultimate length goal (waist length) years ago and there didn't seem to be a point to keep posting similar looking pictures (since I don't do creative styles).

Since I moved to my new location two years ago I have been off my hair regimen.
My hair got really dry with the hard water out here.
I bought a shower filter several months ago and I am spending more time trying to get my moisture balance back.
I also lost some length due to breakage.
It's looking much better but feeling like I have some ways to go to get my hair back to bodacious.
